So, on the World/Ukraine politics thread, I provided an argued response to a post by driftingtinker, and in doing so, I included a single sentence criticizing his choice for moderator based on both his specific stances and the way he has treated other forum members—behavior which, in my view, is fundamentally incompatible with such a "duty." Fine, I can concede that this second part regarding the moderator selection might technically violate the rules of that specific sub-forum, but does that truly warrant a permanent ban?
The ban was issued after I attempted to appeal a warning within the relevant sub-forum, where I received this response:
I find myself wondering what the moderation team's reaction would be if someone were to write that the United States or Canada were seeking damages from Mexico due to the atrocities committed by Slobodan Milošević, which resulted in over a hundred thousand deaths. Are Srebrenica and Ovchar merely the result of "mischief," or are they the direct consequence of criminal policy?
I am interested to know if I have indeed been permanently banned, as I am seeing this message upon logging in:
You have been banned for the following reason:
No reason was specified.
Date the ban will be lifted: Never
... and if I have, why on earth is this worthy of such a draconian penalty?
PS: driftingtinker, you wrote this to me in the Democratic Party section:
In that case, you clearly could have signaled to your fellow moderators not to delete the post, rather than acting in such a hypocritical manner by leaving the task to others instead of handling it yourself; furthermore, I fail to grasp what it means to "avoid attacking the entire persona of an opponent." Perhaps to you, this feels like a personal attack because you have spent your entire tenure ignoring all opposition, and thus you struggle to understand how a proper debate functions, but in a real discussion, one typically attacks the stance and opinion of an "opponent" through reasoned argument. I am posting this here because I lack the ability to reply to you directly in the appeals sub-forum.
