Hey there. I’m running into some connectivity issues with my triple-play bundle—phone, TV, and internet. My laptop keeps dropping the connection entirely. It’ll report speeds around 54 or 65 Mbps, yet there's zero actual throughput—essentially a ghost connection. Other times, the bandwidth just feels throttled. Even after a clean OS install and grabbing the latest drivers from the HP site, nothing has changed. Meanwhile, my phone handles everything perfectly without a single hiccup. If I reboot the router, things stabilize for a few minutes before the cycle repeats. Is this a hardware failure on the laptop side, or is my router acting up? Any advice on how to troubleshoot this?

Are you actively downloading torrents when this starts acting up, or is it just happening randomly during your usual routine?
If you really want to get to the bottom of this, try plugging your laptop directly into the router with an Ethernet cable to see if the wired connection holds steady. Given the symptoms you've described, I have a feeling the connection will drop even on a wire, and if that happens, stop troubleshooting and just call customer service to report a service outage.

When I plug my laptop directly into the router, the connection stays solid—steady 100mbps without any drops. However, while I was installing the driver, a warning popped up about some kind of virus, and honestly, I’m at a loss as to how one even goes about scrubbing that out of the system.
