Alright, I’m looking to wipe my current Windows 7 and move up to something newer. This is actually my first time ever touching the OS—I haven't swapped it since I bought this machine about a year ago—and frankly, I'm out of my depth. I found this tutorial from Nixin and tried following his steps to a T, except I used a disc for my installation media instead of a USB. That shouldn't be the issue, though. The real headache starts when I reboot, hit Del or F12 to get into the BIOS, and realize my screen looks nothing like his image1 or even what everyone else seems to have image2. I'm staring at this and have no clue where to go from here. I've got a Gigabyte motherboard. I haven't touched any settings because I'm no tech wizard, and besides, once I shut down, the PC boots up just fine. Does anyone know how to navigate this...??
any help would be appreciated...

btw if there's a better guide out there than this one, let me know...

You’ve got a newer BIOS than what he's using—specifically a UEFI version, which is standard on motherboards from about two years ago onwards. Basically, you just need to head into your boot options and set the CD-DVD drive as your primary boot device. Once you save those BIOS settings and exit, you should see a prompt along the lines of "press any key to start installation." Just hit Enter (or any key, really) at that point, and the Windows setup should kick right in.

Honestly, if you're doing a totally clean install of Windows and you actually manage to get the installer running, all you really have to do is read what's on the screen. You don't need some deep-dive tutorial; these newer versions of Windows are pretty straightforward, and there's not much you can actually screw up.

Besides, installing via a USB drive is way faster, and it’s dead simple using a tool like Rufus to burn that .ISO file onto it. 🙂
