Wireless signal interference issues

Hey, quick question. I’m using a Linksys Boeing 737 wireless adapter, and I keep getting hit with that "Limited Access" error. It’s super annoying because I’m sitting right next to the router. I actually noticed something weird—whenever my vacuum cleaner gets close to it, the connection just dies instantly and shows that limited access message. I end up having to physically unplug the USB adapter and plug it back in just to get things moving again. I guess maybe I should try changing the channel on my router settings, or is it something else entirely? Thanks!

Maybe try toggling the wireless setting on your router—just turn it off, wait a bit, and then flip it back on.

Yeah, I already tried that, but it’s the same deal. It just keeps throwing that "limited access" error, and then suddenly there isn't a single network in range to connect to. It's like the wireless signal just vanishes, and I can't even figure out how to get it back. Weirdly enough, if I unplug my USB drive and plug it back in, things start working again, but then after a little while, the whole mess repeats itself.

Could you please reinstall the adapter driver?

Look, I’m certainly no licensed electrician, but a buddy of mine mentioned that if your computer and your router are pulling from the same electrical phase, you can end up with all sorts of signal interference or even total connection drops... It sounds a bit ridiculous, but I used to have this issue where my internet would just cut out every single time I flipped the switch on my space heater. Even today, if I turn on the hot water in the bathroom—assuming the water heater kicks in—my connection goes dead. It sounds absurd, I know, but it's the truth. Maybe that's why it happens right when I fire up the vacuum, too.

Electricity itself isn't going to mess with your WiFi frequencies, but if you've got a phone line running parallel to a power cable, your router might pick up interference through the jack. Most modern setups use switching power supplies for everything—your PC, your router, etc.—which usually have enough built-in components to filter out that electrical noise or any little sparks from the grid.
As for actual WiFi interference? You’re more likely looking at something like a microwave oven or even just the smartphone sitting right next to your PC when it pings the network...
