Wireless vs. wired: which is better?

I'm looking to pick up some peripherals to go along with my new rig, so I wanted to see what you guys recommend. Should I stick with wired gear or go wireless? Also, is the wireless signal actually strong enough if the tower is tucked under my desk a bit far away? And how bad is the battery life on these things?

For standard use, the signal strength is plenty strong anywhere you go, and battery life really just comes down to the specific device—some of them hold a charge surprisingly well. The main downside to wireless is still that laggy response compared to a wired connection, which is a big deal if you're a gamer.

It’s a decent enough selection of peripherals, though if I were in your shoes, I’d grab that first mouse before anything else. Personally, I always lean toward wireless gear just because I can't stand dealing with a mess of cables cluttering up my desk.
