Alright, first update—you probably already know how the Politics section works (if you don't, go read up), so just stick to those guidelines here too. I basically just grabbed the rules from the main Politics section and pasted them here so you don't have to go hunting for them elsewhere:
General Conduct Rules for the Politics Subforum
Article 1.
Basically, these rules cover how this Politics subforum runs, what it means to be an active member here, and all the rights and responsibilities that come with it.
Article 2.
The owner of the Forum has the final say on making or scrapping rules. It’s all about keeping things organized on the IMF so we can actually beautify the discussions and keep them civilized.
Article 3.
Polite, well-reasoned debate, acting like a decent human being, treating everyone equally, being tolerant, keeping things efficient, staying fair, feeling like a community, respecting people, and actually listening to why others feel the way they do... yeah, those are the big ones. Those are the core values here. Everything else flows from that.
Article 4.
The owner, the subforum moderators, and in some rare cases, the supermods and admins, are the ones who enforce these rules and values.
Article 5.
In the Politics subforum, you can't do any of this:
Attacking people based on race, ethnicity, social status, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or pretty much anything else.
Promoting or calling for any criminal acts defined under the United States Penal Code.
Glorifying or promoting Nazism, fascism, racist ideologies, or anything involving xenophobia, including posting symbols related to those groups.
Insulting other users—whether it's because you disagree or because someone insulted you first. Don't troll, and don't feed the trolls.
Going totally off-topic and derailing the conversation.
Posting massive walls of text over 2,000 characters or pasting stuff in a foreign language without a quick summary translation.
Making duplicate threads (starting a new topic when one already exists on the same subject).
Any other way that messes with how the forum is supposed to work.
If you break these rules, there will be consequences, and we'll decide the punishment based on how bad the violation was.
Keep in mind, these are an addition to the main forum rules, which you also need to read and follow.
Rules aren't set in stone. They'll change, get updated, or get deleted as we go. I'll put the date of the last edit at the top of this thread so you know if anything changed.
Happy posting,
The Mods.
