Yellowing eyes?

I met someone recently who had these noticeably yellow eyes—it was honestly my first time seeing anything like it. It looked like the whites of her eyes were turning yellow too. I’m wondering if that could be jaundice or maybe even hepatitis? She insists she’s perfectly fine, though I did ask her directly. Our only real contact was handling some skin she was picking off her nails, but I also felt like she breathed on me a couple of times, whether she meant to or not. Is there any actual risk of catching something from that?
