I didn't get a chance to check in here yesterday to do my usual rounds, but there’s absolutely no debate here—Elvis Presley definitely has my vote (alongside The Byrds, Sade, and maybe a few others on that list). It’s one thing when some legend like David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, or The Doors doesn't snag Album of the Week, but when a true icon of this magnitude gets overlooked, it honestly feels like a failure of our entire culture... ☕

Dammit, way too many people voted for stuff that just doesn't move the needle at all. ☕

Oh, right... that's just that high-octane, brain-dead kind of humor. I mean, who actually finds this funny? Who thinks this is actually good?...

Amanda Lopez50 said:*I'm just messing around, really... though I agree, Elvis Presley is a total disaster of an icon. But honestly, the older I get, the more Zen I become about it all. Just live and let people listen to whatever they want... even if some of my absolute favorite artists from back in the day turned out to be complete idiots later on. 🙂

I generally tend to agree, but if something looks and smells like garbage, I'm definitely going to call it garbage.

Casey Flores said:Look, I get that a concept like this eventually becomes necessary, but I didn't even get a chance to vote, let alone suggest an album. The Byrds would’ve definitely taken the win—maybe along with Glass Bead Game. Thank God that primitive hack Elvis Presley didn't make the cut. Are there actually people here who can stomach his brainless humor, or even worse, that trash rock? 🤮

I mean, if the average age here was around 16, I might actually get some of this...

Americans—acting like the perfect little obedient servants they are—always brag about being so sophisticated, but we all know they're just a bunch of hicks, even more than any other group out there. I'd bet anything that 80% of them are out there cutting their wrists to some cheap, newly-minted country garbage.

The only decent thing coming out lately is that country music from the Ozarks.😁

Album of the week from 1967? Look, I love The Doors, and I really respect the hustle here, but man... that one...

Starting the bidding. This is easily one of my top 5 albums from all of 2020.—no contest.

OP here!
First off, it’s a woman! And she's new! 🙂
(I honestly, I was hooked from the first second...)

I'm going to skip making any suggestions this round—I think I did enough preaching last week, so I'll just sit this one out and listen. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing what we end up playing. 🙂

Women first this time! And fresh too! 🙂
(Honestly, they're winning me over instantly...)

I'm gonna skip the suggestion round this time—I did enough preaching last week, so I'll just stay quiet for a bit. But I'm definitely stoked to see what we end up playing. 🙂

Looking back at my absolute favorites from this past year—mostly 80% Americana, country-rock, and singer-songwriters—nearly half of that comes from female songwriters. Once I get settled, maybe in a few days, I'll drop my lists of the best songs and albums from 2020.

I’ve probably been spinning Waxahatchee, Phoebe Bridgers, and Jason Isbell more than anything else.

Giving a huge shoutout to my buddy Quarter, The Sound has been such a massive discovery for me lately. I've spun the whole album a few times this week already—it's just incredibly well put together.

To be perfectly honest... since I’ve always leaned more toward that polished, pure pop sound, I think I might actually prefer the mini-LP Shock of Daylight from '84. It just hits differently. Plus, it features my absolute favorite track, A New Way of Life.

Anyway... I'm just genuinely happy about it. Truly.😉

Just a side note, those damn Armenians have suffered so much as a people it’s actually tragic. Generally speaking, Christians in modern-day Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and those kinds of places have been absolutely screwed, both now and throughout history.

p.s. I was thinking about suggesting Rage Against the Machine today since we were talking about Armenians.

Honestly, this isn't just beautiful—it feels like I'm listening to a soundtrack for an early Denis Villeneuve film (just way more traditional, obviously)😍

The Wire case in point: my favorite from The Godfather, his absolute favorite movie 🙂
Denis Villeneuve is Armenian, of course, but he was born in Egypt and raised in Canada.
