The OS might be picking up the GPU, but it looks like the driver is hitting a snag during the load process. Which card are you running?

By the way, instead of starting a whole new thread, just drop your question here. 😉

The graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX series.

The processor is an Intel Core i7.

First installation.

Regarding XP-Nem, everything installs perfectly fine. But Windows 7? It’s driving me absolutely insane.

Desktop processor, desktop graphics card with properly matched Win7 drivers (32-bit or 64-bit). Is this your first time running into this, or have you already attempted to install a week of updates?

It’s my first time, and it couldn't be worse! I tried installing XP yesterday and had zero issues, but Windows 7 just won't cooperate.

Hello.

Is it possible to change the order in which programs launch during startup? I would prefer my antivirus to load before the computer connects to the internet.
Does that even make a difference?

Try this approach: pull out the graphics card (assuming there isn't some integrated chip on the motherboard?), reinstall Windows 7, pop the card back in, and then install the appropriate driver. 😉

Thanks, honestly feeling pretty let down this week, even though I jumped on it because everyone said it was amazing...

Thanks! Thanks! I finally got it sorted. After ten tries, I managed to get it installed normally and everything is working perfectly now. Thanks again!👍

I have a minor, yet incredibly annoying issue. Image:

The problem is I can't get rid of this "uuu" grid. I can't move it down, and I can't even change its settings. I have no clue where it came from.

When I try to delete or modify it, nothing happens—no error messages or anything. It’s like the changes are being accepted, but everything just stays exactly the same.

A couple of times when I tried deleting it, it actually vanished for a single second before popping right back up again.

There you go. If anyone has any ideas...

Hey there.

I noticed yesterday that my C: drive space is just vanishing. After falling down a massive Google rabbit hole, I found out the winsxs folder is eating up over 7GB of my 20GB Windows directory. I already ran some disk cleanup and cleared out the junk, but if this keeps up, I’ll be left with zero breathing room every time I try to tidy things up. I've tried various cleaning tools, nuked old update backups, cleared the history... honestly, I'm running out of tricks.

Anyone got any bright ideas? My partition is only 30GB because that was plenty for a Windows 7 install. Now, suddenly, it looks like it won't even hold its own weight because Windows is spreading across my drive like a virus.😕

Wait, when you hover over that "uuu" network with your mouse, does it jump right back under "Home"? Also, just a thought—check if "Connect automatically" is turned on there.

I open up properties, change something—including "Connect automatically"—hit OK, and the window closes. I reopen properties and nothing changed.

I delete the network; nothing happens. I move it down; nothing. I move the other one up; nothing. The other one is active. I used to have multiple networks defined and they all worked fine. I could edit, delete, or reorder them (except for "uuu" which stays at the top). But with this "uuu" network, I can't do a single thing.

Haven't tried... Would Safe Mode work? Or maybe it can be wiped from the registry or something? 🤷

Hey everyone, what's up? So, through a series of rather unfortunate events, I've recently become the unlucky owner of a Dell laptop, which, if you ask me, feels like it's mostly just a giant pile of cheap plastic. Even though it gets the job done well enough, I’m feeling pretty skeptical about the whole thing. Anyway, setting that aside, I rely heavily on the hibernate option because it's just so convenient—the second I fire the machine up, all my apps are right there waiting for me, so I don't waste any time reopening everything. On every single computer I've owned in the past, this worked perfectly fine, but on this one, it's hit or miss. Sometimes it works, but other times I get slapped with that dreaded blue screen—which obviously can't be a good sign—saying something about "dumping physical memory" or whatever, and then it asks if I want to "start Windows normally." I have no clue what that's even about, though I did hear somewhere that hardware issues might be the culprit here?? Hopefully, you guys can help me out!! Thanks!!

I tried deleting the network. Nothing. Tried moving it down the list. Nothing. Moved the other one up. Nothing. The other one is active. I’ve had multiple profiles set up before and they all worked fine. I could edit them, delete them, or move them (except for the top one, which is stuck). But with this specific "uuu" network, I can't do a single thing.

Haven't tried it yet... Would Safe Mode work? Or maybe there's a way to wipe it through the registry or something? 🤷

After making those changes in Properties, deleting, or moving things around, did you try restarting your computer?

Maybe this will help:
"I was able to delete a wireless network, but only by using Regedit to delete all registry references to the SSID, then rebooting and deleting the network from the list of Wireless Networks." (link; see the last post)

So, I'm running Windows 7, and whenever I try downloading torrents using uTorrent, BitTorrent, or whatever, my computer just resets itself after a few minutes. The screen goes blue and mentions NETIO.SYS along with some driver info, but I can't quite catch what the rest says... basically, does anyone know what might be causing this?
Downloading torrents through Opera works perfectly fine without any issues.

thanks

Downloading via Opera seems to work totally fine!

Well, you'll have to give us more details on those drivers. It’s probably something involving the Wireless Networks drivers. Try doing this:

Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings, and disable the option to Automatically restart. That way, when it crashes again, you should actually be able to see the error message. Just write down what it says.

Maybe this will help you:
I managed to wipe a Wireless Network from my system, though it wasn't straightforward. I had to jump into Regedit to manually scrub every single registry entry tied to that SSID, reboot the machine, and only then could I finally remove it from the list of Wireless Networks. (linkCheck the latest post.

Yeah, I tried restarting...

Anyway... thanks for the advice, but...

First, I tried completely stripping the drivers and removing the card from the Device Manager just to reinstall them (following that "Windows expert" in the link). Naturally, it did nothing. That damn network popped right back up. So then, before diving into the registry, I tried installing the new drivers released last week. Of course, that didn't work either... While I was at it, I saw some new Bluetooth drivers and grabbed those too, intending to install them. Naturally, I hit an error during installation and started getting "missing DLL" messages. Now I'm looking at the driver instructions again, which say you have to wipe the old drivers first if they're below a certain version. 🤦So, I went ahead and tried to uninstall Bluetooth and remove the device from the Device Manager. Naturally, it demanded a restart. Well, I restarted my computer and now, predictably, I can't even get into Windows. It’s throwing some error about being unable to access a critical device or something along those lines, telling me to try a Repair using a Setup DVD. I already tried that, and of course, it didn't do a damn thing. So now, I'm completely locked out of Windows. 🤦🤦🤦

Just so you know, I also have Ubuntu running on that machine via dual boot, and of course, it works perfectly fine...

Honestly, I have that cheap D-Link card and ever since I got it, these issues started happening. Even though I disabled it and switched to an Ethernet cable, the problem still persists!

I'll try this and let you know!
