I mean, should I go with a KMS or a MAK key?

I'm talking about using legitimate (original) Windows 7, so I'm just not sure whether to install via MAK or KMS.

I found this helpful video that breaks down the difference between MAK and KMS activation.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/dd936198

MAK is meant for individual machines, while KMS is usually for systems with about 25 networked computers.🙂

Did the Bluetooth actually start working again once you plugged it back in? Did the device pair successfully?

I figured I'd ask here.

I'm having trouble using the radio feature in Windows Media Player 12. 😠

Whenever I click on the online stores, it either says "no online stores" or tells me they aren't available in my location.

Even when I try clicking that little downward arrow next to the online stores link, absolutely nothing happens. 🤷

I've already tried disabling my firewall and switching my region settings in the Language and Region menu to the USA, but no luck there. 🤷

It used to work perfectly fine back when I was using Windows Media Player 11 on XP. 🤷

Just grab VLC Media Player and you'll be all set—otherwise, you could spend some time digging through the Windows Media Player 12 network settings, or honestly, just uninstall it and roll back to Windows Media Player 11.

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on it. Now, the whole thing freezes constantly and I have to do a hard manual reset. It happens when I right-click an icon, or even just during a software installation... Plus, the USB ports are being totally hit-or-miss.
Is this an issue with Windows or is the hardware itself faulty? I really don't want to waste my time taking it back to the service center if it's just a Windows problem...

Thanks

It isn't because of Windows 7.
I've been running 6.1.7600 ultimate x86 on a Compaq Turion X2 RM-74 2.20GHz with 2GB 800MHz RAM and Intel HD Graphics 256MB for three months now without a single hiccup. HP provides drivers for every OS on their official sites—I didn't even need a disc. Windows 7 handles most of it automatically, but I also used Driver Genius Pro 2009. So, bottom line: absolutely everything works perfectly fine... 👍

Personally, I just use Winamp for radio streams and it has never once screwed me over—though, granted, Windows Media Player 12 might actually have better sound quality...👍

I’m having a nightmare with PC Studio... it's the driver for my Samsung phone. And now, thanks to my brilliant mother deciding to "clean" my room 😁, she tossed the whole thing in the trash. Great. Now I'm screwed. Apparently, nothing online is compatible with Windows 7, which is just fantastic.
I've been scouring the web for days and found absolutely nothing; it seems like everyone else is dealing with this same mess.

It functions, technically speaking, though sending a file has become an unnecessarily convoluted ordeal; I now have to navigate through the file transfer menu, browse for the specific file, and then manually designate the destination... it's quite a chore. Previously, it was a simple matter of a right-click followed by "Send to Bluetooth."

Installing Windows 7
I’ve been trying to get Windows 7 up and running, but I keep hitting this wall right at the very end—maybe about five or seven minutes before the finishing touches are supposed to complete—where the whole process just... stalls. It doesn't even freeze or crash; it just sits there, completely motionless, as if it’s forgotten what it’s doing. I guess I’ve tried leaving it alone for two days straight, thinking maybe it just needed time, but nothing happens. I’m using a SATA hard drive, and I suspect that might be where the issue lies, because when I swap it out for an old 20GB IDE drive, the installation finishes in about 25 minutes without any drama.
I currently have Windows XP running on this machine, but I really want to have Windows 7 installed alongside it.
Does anyone have any idea what could possibly be causing this hang-up?
Can anyone help me out here?

Olivia Watson46 said:It works, but I have to go through the whole file transfer process—browsing for the file, selecting where to send it... it's such a hassle. It used to be so simple; just a right-click and then "Send to Bluetooth."

There might be a quick fix for this. Try holding down the Shift key while you right-click the file; that should expand the "Send to" menu and hopefully show you more options—maybe even Bluetooth.

Also, instead of saying "Bluetooth," it might actually list your phone's name, which does the exact same thing.
I can't seem to find that "Send to folder" option in Windows right now—I don't have much time to dig around—but there are plenty of little utility programs online that let you customize those menus. Just give it a quick search on Google: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa...+to%22&spell=1

Code:
shell:sendto

Just type that into your Start menu and you're good to go.
http://on10.net/blogs/sarahintampa/W...-Tordquo-Menu/

If only we had a "Move To" version of this menu.

I've already set up some custom functions for "Copy to..." and "Move to..." via the right-click context menu—but honestly, I'm not thrilled with them. They aren't true menus; you have to manually browse to the destination every single time... and it doesn't even remember your history. If you're sending something to a specific folder, it won't save your last selected path—it's pretty frustrating.

Does anyone know how to build a "Move To" menu (essentially just a "Send To" that actually relocates the file)? Or maybe there's a little utility out there that can replicate this functionality?

Personally, I think this is a great idea—just pin the Windows 3 D flipper directly to the taskbar http://on10.net/blogs/sarahintampa/A...ws-7s-Taskbar/. It really should have been a standard feature in Windows 7, right next to that "show desktop" button.

That said, even with that addition, I’m struggling to see much practical use for all these flashy Aero effects and flipping animations beyond them just looking fancy. I rarely find myself using those features, and I doubt having them on the taskbar will change my habits; I'm pretty much strictly a mouse user whenever I'm not typing away at something.
Without that shortcut on the taskbar, I'm stuck reaching for the mouse just to hit a bunch of keyboard combos—which is honestly just a hassle.

True, there are plenty of options out there, but honestly, I’d much rather just get it working on Windows Media Player 12. 😉 If that doesn't work out, then I guess I'll look into installing something else. 😉

Anyway, if anyone else is running into this issue or knows a fix, please let me know! 🙂

Man, I really need some help getting Windows 7 64 bit up and running. Right now, I’m stuck on Windows 7 32 bit, and I’m dying to make the jump to 64 bit. I managed to grab Windows 7 build 7057 (64 bit), but it’s being a total pain. Every time I try, it just throws this error at me: "This installation disc isn't compatible with your version of Windows. To upgrade, you need the correct installation disc. For more information, check your computer's system information. To install a new copy of windows, restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc, and then select Custom (advanced)". I did some digging online and apparently, I have to do a clean install if I want to switch architectures. But here's the kicker—no matter what I do, I can't get the disc to boot. I'm almost certain the disc is actually bootable, though. Does anyone have a decent guide on how to pull off a clean install? Or, if the disc is somehow bunk and not actually bootable, is there a way to fix it and make it work? Thanks.

Don't even bother wasting your time with anything older than build 7600. You can find it online pretty easily if you need to "buy" it. Everything else you're looking at is just an RC version, and it'll probably crash on you every two hours.

I'm running Windows 7 32-bit right now and want to move up to the 64-bit version—do I need to wipe the whole drive and start fresh, or can I just run an update?

You just need to format it... that's actually pretty easy when you're working with Windows 7

My setup’s been stuck in English for a week now—bought it as a laptop combo from Best Buy.
How do I swap the language over to American English?
I tried hunting down some Microsoft packs online, but all the links I found are ancient and totally dead.
thanks!

You can actually just do it through Windows Update.
