I haven't really kept up with his recent stuff—to be honest, I feel like I got stuck in the 70s, 80s, and 90s—but even I noticed those newer movies were pretty questionable in terms of quality.
And speaking of which, I feel like Robert De Niro has definitely taken a bit of a dip in the last 15 years or so. I mean, I just remember that one movie that kept popping up on TV with Zac Efron (or whoever that kid was). It just didn't sit right with me. And I think there were a handful of other movies at that same level.

Given that Dema posted that message, I suspect things are looking even bleaker than what we've been told. It’s a tragedy... illness doesn't care who you are. He was always such a great guy, never any drama or trouble with him. 😢 He was basically the definition of a man's man, in the best way possible.

Maybe those weird, rude interviews or how difficult he was to work with—like with Kevin Smith—can be blamed on the illness, but that whole thing about the paycheck? I don't know, that's a tough one to swallow.

His current wife was actually born in Malta.

He wasn't the absolute best actor out there, but he was a great guy—definitely one of my favorite action heroes. My top pick isn't even Die Like a Man or Hellish Shit; it’s Sixth Sense. Also, that comedy Death Suits Her works pretty well, though the focus shifts from him over to Goldie Streep rather than him.

He hasn't finished, he's just catching his breath.

Maybe we should just stick to remembering him for those classic old movies, because honestly, his last few projects have been pretty rough lately.
I mean, 67 isn't even that old, and if you look at him, he's actually holding up pretty well physically
Plus, there are plenty of similar stories out there with guys like Michael J. Fox and Val Kilmer.

He really hit his stride during that era... more or less a run of solid films. Pure A-list stuff.
The Fifth Element. I can rewatch it whenever the mood strikes me... I’ll probably end up bringing up several other films from that era too. 16 Blocks I mean, personally? I thought the performance was top-tier. It’s one of those things where, even if the movie itself isn't exactly everyone's cup of tea—and let's be honest, some people just don't "get" certain flicks—that specific role was executed perfectly. Not everyone is going to love the film, but you can't deny the work that went into that part.

It’s such a shame. I think I’ll always remember him as the Joe Hallenbeck from The Last Boy Scout, which, in my opinion, stands alongside Schwarzenegger's Commando as one of the best films ever made.

The Last Boy Scout is top-tier. The chemistry between him and Damon is just spot on, the pacing is solid, and the jokes actually land...
