It goes smoothly at the ER; they give you an injection and an IV, and everything is fine😁

My sister has been dealing with this for almost a year now. She could tell down to the exact day when her period was coming... she wouldn't go anywhere that day. Mom would already let Dad know he’d have to leave work early to drive her to the emergency room, and that was that.

My sister’s been dealing with this exact thing for almost a year now. She can practically sense the day her period is coming—it's like clockwork. On those days, she isn't going anywhere. My mom already gives my dad a heads-up that he'll need to leave work early to drive her to the emergency room, and that's pretty much the drill.

It's all in your head.😉

Psychologically speaking, that whole internal battle of growing up—especially hitting that first period which basically signals you're officially becoming a woman—is a massive stress trigger. You’re already dealing with the chaos of puberty, and adding that layer of anxiety on top of everything else is a huge reason why functional dysmenorrhea starts cropping up in girls. It’s just one more thing to deal with when everything else feels like it's falling apart.

My sister’s been dealing with this for almost a year now—she can practically predict the exact day her period is coming. On those days, she isn't going anywhere. My mom usually gives my dad a heads-up that he'll need to leave work early to drive her to the emergency room, and that’s basically the routine.

So, look, if the pain is genuinely bad enough that you're hitting the ER every single month, maybe it's worth actually looking into long-term solutions? Like, I don't know, switching to birth control pills might help—assuming there aren't any medical reasons why you shouldn't.

Personally, I used to get slammed with pain on the first day, but never quite "emergency room" levels of bad. Voltaren Rapid usually did the trick, but then I figured out this little hack: take one in the morning and one at night right before the actual bleeding starts. Then do it again the next day... and by the time the period actually hits, I barely even feel it.

AND NO, IT IS NOT ALL IN YOUR HEAD!!! 🙄

For me, the first day used to absolutely wreck me, but never so bad that I needed an ambulance. It’s more about 🙄 where it’s coming from, like maybe an endometriosis issue?😁

Look, Doc, after a pregnancy that ended in a D&C—and yeah, let's just say it was a rough ride—my pains pretty much vanished. My actual doctor explained that since my uterus is more stretched out now, everything feels different... less cramped, I guess.

Before I got pregnant, my life was basically a constant battle against pain so intense I felt like I was hovering right on the edge of passing out; honestly, I tried everything from various pills to injections, but nothing could touch it.
Then, suddenly, after the pregnancy, all that agony just vanished into thin air.
So, listen up, ladies!😉 😁

Honestly, I just pop some Voltaren and call it a day. You can't just sit there and take it, especially when the pain is hitting you hard.
For me, the ache just stretches all the way through my back, and sometimes on the first day, I get diarrhea too—so yeah, that’s a real "fun" experience right there. I read somewhere that it’s all because of hormones, which honestly, isn't even surprising, right?! If you can actually handle these pains without breaking, then they probably aren't even that bad. Hang in there!

There is an entire massive thread dedicated to this over on the Health board. 🙄

And regarding those pseudo-experts who claim "it's all in your head"—the actual cause of the pain could be endometriosis, a retroverted uterus, fibroids, cysts, or other physical issues.
Now, let's turn our attention to Zen Buddhism. 😛

And don't even get me started on those so-called "psychology experts" who love to claim "it's all in your head." Give me a break! Real physical pain can be caused by endometriosis, a tilted uterus, fibroids, cysts, or any of those other actual medical issues.
But hey, let's pivot to Zen Buddhism instead, shall we? 😛

Oh, please. Don't give me that psychological nonsense. Spare me.😍 😁

I used to deal with all of this before I got pregnant... just constant, unbearable pain. Honestly, the only things that actually touched it were heavy-duty stuff, you know? Like Advil or Aleve... nothing else really worked.🙄It was absolutely brutal, if they actually messed things up for me back then...
But once the pregnancy was over, the pain just... vanished. Completely gone.😛

I’ve always dealt with constant pain. I used to rush to the ER and swallow Voltaren like candy until my sister-in-law shared her secret—you know those hot water bottles our grandmothers used to use? You just fill them with hot water.
Lie down comfortably, place it directly on your stomach, and within thirty minutes, the pain is gone. It’s that simple. I’ve been using this method for a year now and haven't touched a single dose of Voltaren.

Yeah, total scam. You might as well just throw your money straight into a shredder, honestly. It’s basically the same thing as letting some con artist walk all over you...

Ketonal is basically the law... honestly, Voltaren just messed up my whole cycle... nothing beats some mint tea, stretching out on the couch, and grabbing the remote 🙂
but for me... my favorite phrase ever: "honeyyyy, be a doll and bring me..." 👍

Walter Myers4 said:Yeah, heat pads work. You could also just have a guy carry you on his back; it helps just as much...

Why does it matter to you? 😬

By the way, having a partner definitely makes a difference. When things get this bad, my husband lies down behind me and rests his hands on my stomach. He massages my legs—which cramp up from the pain—and brings me my medication. Bottom line: men can absolutely be helpful.😉

It’s all in my head. That’s what they tell you, right? But that doesn't change the fact that the pain wakes me up more times than I can count. And the worst part? When I'm actually asleep, I don't spend my time worrying about whether it’s going to hurt or how much it's going to ache—I'm just out. It’s only when I wake up that the reality hits.

I’m actually planning on getting pregnant soon, so we’ll see how it goes. It doesn't hit me every single time, but when it does? I'm done for. The pain usually lasts about an hour or two. The absolute worst part😳 is when it wakes me up in the middle of the night right before I have to head into work in the morning.

For the first couple of days, I make sure to take some Voltaren—Ketonal always messes with my stomach—and then just sink into a hot bath. I know, I know, it’s probably not the best idea... but honestly, it feels amazing...
On all the other days, there isn't any pain at all.
