I was hoping I could pick your brains for a few details....

1. Lighting...does anyone have any solid recommendations, and what kind of budget should I realistically set aside for this?
2. Catering for the pre-ceremony gathering...I would love to hear all your suggestions, tips, or even just personal experiences you've had with different vendors.
3. Wedding venues...how far in advance is it generally recommended to get everything booked?

Thanks so much in advance for any help you can provide!

1. Check out Semprefree or whoever runs that setup over in the downtown high-rise building... $533 they do great lighting, disco balls, and all those fun little fairy lights.

2. For catering, go with Mimi. I actually promised myself I wouldn't recommend them because they called me the Friday before my wedding demanding full payment upfront or they wouldn't show up! But honestly? The food was so incredible everyone was floored. More than half the plates were licked clean—total credit where it's due!

Does anyone know a good hairstylist in San Francisco who does house calls? Also—just curious—what’s the going rate for a prom makeover these days? And how far in advance should I be looking to book an appointment?

rustywalker34 said:When it comes to the music at a party, everyone has their own specific taste, and what one person finds incredible, another might find utterly grating... there really aren't any rules to follow here, and you can clearly see from the endless chatter on this forum that people will claim just about anything is good... Don't listen to anyone else's noise; just go hear the band for yourself and decide who actually hits the mark, because at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is whether you're having a good time...🙂
Your only real decision is whether to hire a duo, a trio, or the entire band, though that ultimately hinges on the size of your budget... A full band is certainly more expensive, but you’re paying for a level of quality you just can't replicate elsewhere; you get a much wider selection of high-end repertoire, a far superior sound, and a significantly better vocal harmony... A duo is the cheaper route, of course...
At the end of the day, it all comes down to what you choose for yourself and how much you're willing to shell out...🙂

For me, it’s all about the atmosphere. You can have a band that’s incredibly hyped up, but if they don't know how to actually set the mood—it's all a wash, everything falls apart.😢
And, interestingly enough, the price gap between a full band and a duo or trio isn't even that massive... whatever, we'll just take a shot in the dark and if we hit the mark, it'll be great!😉🙂

It’ll all turn out just fine, I suppose... if we're lucky...🙂

Hey there, ladies and gents.
I know this might be buried somewhere in the archives, but could someone please drop some contacts for makeup artists in San Diego? Thanks in advance!😉

Why on earth would you book a venue without first confirming if any of the bands you actually want are even available on that date? And now we're stuck...
It’s far better to settle for a mediocre venue than to be stuck with a terrible band! Learn from this mistake next time...🙂

I don't have many options left—the price tag is getting pretty steep...
As for venues, I only have one single lead, which was at a hotel I actually passed on because the layout was terrible—it’s split into two separate rooms...
So, I've settled on a space a bit further out from the city center, somewhere totally isolated with zero amenities—not even a kitchen! Honestly, I'm in complete shock right now...😢
The reason I picked this specific date is because it holds some sentimental value for me...
Everyone kept questioning why I was rushing the planning, and looking back, I realize I'm actually running behind schedule.
Anyway, I have a few questions and would really appreciate any help you all could offer...

- Does anyone know Milan Terza? He has a few original songs and performs in a trio...
- What about Foto Stojan? Are they any good? I can't seem to find any of their work online.
- Lighting recommendations (besides Semper Fi, since they're already booked for that date)
- A catering service that can handle full dinner service and provide their own servers...

Quick question for the ladies in San Francisco 🙂
Where are you all getting your hair done? Looking for a solid recommendation for a good stylist 😉

Does anyone here have some solid recommendations for wedding dress boutiques in San Francisco? I’ve already checked out La Perle Glamour, Vesna’s, and Nikolina—I’ve been through their collections already—and I even made a trip out to Aspen. I am really searching for something with that specific aesthetic you see at Penelope's... does anyone know if there's anything like that available in San Francisco?
