Word on the street is they’ve got five photographers and five videographers on staff. I mean, honestly, who can actually vouch for any one of them personally? It’s just five of this and five of that... feels like you're playing the lottery, I guess.🙂 :-)

If you're looking for bands, here's my take:

GABRIEL from Boise 😍—it’s five guys and one girl, and honestly, they are incredible. They're super easy to work with, can play just about any genre, and they know exactly how to get the party started. I'm definitely booking them, plus their price is actually reasonable at $1,500.
I'd also suggest the JESSY band out of Boise; they bring an amazing energy too. They were my second choice, but Gabriel happened to be free on my date. They're a group of four, including a woman, and they cost a little more than Gabriel. They used to play at Blue Coffee (not sure if they still do), but you can find both bands on Facebook if you want to check them out...

I wouldn't change a single thing about them if I had the chance. I recommend their services to everyone, from the bottom of my heart.

Hey everyone 🙂
Has anyone here actually attended a wedding at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Chicago lately?
I’d really appreciate any insight you can give me—seriously, every little detail helps. 🙂

Does anyone have a solid DJ recommendation for the San Francisco or Savannah area? I’m not looking for a live band, and I definitely don't want some pretentious DJ who cares more about their "aesthetic" than the actual vibe. I just want someone who will play basically everything—just please, no turbo folk! I’ve called a few people already, and they were all incredibly stuck-up "artists." I’m just looking for someone down-to-earth who is actually willing to sit down and agree on a setlist. Thanks in advance for any leads!

rustyfox25 said:If you want the widest variety of rings, you should check out Vegas Jewelers; they're tucked away in that little alleyway right between the main plaza and the farmer's market. They specialize specifically in wedding bands, so if you have a unique vision in mind, you can pretty much custom order whatever you want. Most other jewelers in the city can make anything you desire, provided you actually have an idea of what you're looking for if you don't want the standard stuff. I ended up getting mine at MediaCorp near The Pentagon—it's right next to Tiffany & Co.—because I snagged a 20% discount at a bridal expo. Hopefully, that helps even just a little bit.😉

Just wanted to give you an update! 😁

So, we ended up browsing a few different jewelry stores to see what was out there, and in the end, we learned exactly what you suggested! 👍 By the way, the shop is called Vagus, not Vargas. 😉

They did a custom set for us. What did I have in mind? Plain white gold. His is a simple band, but mine features four zircons set in a square pattern!
It’s simple, but I think it's absolutely gorgeous!
$1000.
We haven't done any engraving yet. They told us it's always free, so we'll probably wait until the church ceremony to engrave them; for now, it's just the civil ceremony.

Edit: My engagement ring is from Media Jewelers! 😍

Petra, did you already get everything sorted? How is The Anchor Group? How on earth did you find them?? How many people are in the band, what's the damage like price-wise, and are they seriously as good as everyone says?

Can we please chill with the self-promotion in the very first post of a thread? Mayo

Has anyone actually worked with Salo Bolero Photography before? Who are their best photographers or videographers?

Thanks

We used "Photo California"...
The cameraman (can't remember his name) was honestly pretty mediocre,
but they recommended Miro for the shots and they were actually phenomenal, which was my main priority! 😉

Alright, I’ll throw in a few quick thoughts of my own just to help out:

LidoAurora Florist - absolutely perfect, hit the nail on the head there!
Marino's photography - honestly, just go check his work on Facebook; his shots speak louder than a thousand words, another total winner!
Fabula venue (the lower hall, fits up to 120 people) - such friendly vibes, and the servers are super low-key and efficient, a total home run!

😁
Really hoping this helps someone out there!🙂

Thanks so much for such an incredibly thorough post! 🙏
I just have one quick question: how much did you actually end up paying for the chair, considering you went through the trouble of switching up the menu? And what exactly was on it? Was it just the standard setup with the cold appetizer and the veal medallions, or did you tweak things even more than that? 😁

I mean, my price actually stayed exactly where it was, and honestly, if I’m being totally real about it, I actually ended up losing another dollar per person because of that milk supplement thing—so that’s like, what, $234 less in my pocket altogether? It’s just ridiculous.
I honestly just swapped things around a little bit, you know? I figured it might make more sense to serve the roast first, then move on to the beef stew and those medallions... I guess that's just how I saw it working out.

I guess I should probably start by saying that I don't usually go on these kinds of rants, but honestly, after seeing what’s being said, I just can't stay quiet anymore. It feels like everyone is just jumping to conclusions without actually looking at the facts, and frankly, it’s getting pretty exhausting to watch. I mean, maybe I'm being too intense about it, but there's just something about the way this whole situation is being handled that feels completely off to me, you know? It’s like we’re all just nodding along to whatever narrative is being pushed instead of asking the real questions. I don't know, maybe I'm just cynical, but I think we deserve a bit more transparency than what we've been getting lately. It’s frustrating, really.
I mean, honestly, I don’t even know where to start with this one, but here we go. I guess I just have to get this off my chest because it feels like everyone is just completely ignoring how ridiculous this whole situation is getting. It’s like, does nobody else see what’s happening right in front of them? Maybe I’m just being overly dramatic, or maybe I’m the only one actually paying attention, but it feels like we're all just sleepwalking through this. I don't know, it's just frustrating, you know? You try to make sense of things, you try to follow the logic, and then suddenly everything just shifts and becomes total nonsense again. I guess I'm just venting now, but seriously, it's exhausting trying to keep up when the goalposts keep moving every single day. kaže:
Does anyone have any good recommendations for makeup artists or hair stylists over in San Francisco? I'm looking for someone who actually knows what they're doing.
And even for the wedding cake...🙂
So, about that haircut... I think Tomislav Gelo is heading over to Studio Sandra at ST3, you know, the spot right behind the Kauri building.
So, about that makeup session with Anamarija Rupčić... honestly, I’ve actually got her number if you're interested, so I could probably just shoot you a DM with the details?
I was just thinking about that wedding cake from Zenit, and honestly, I’ve got some thoughts. It’s one of those things where you look at it and you just can't help but wonder if they actually put half the effort into the flavor as they did into the presentation, though I guess that's always the gamble when you're picking out something so massive for a big day. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but sometimes these high-end bakeries focus so much on the aesthetic that you end up with something that looks like a masterpiece but tastes like sweetened cardboard, you know? I mean, don't get me wrong, the design was stunning, but I can't help but feel like there's a fine line between "elegant" and "just trying too hard," and I'm still sitting here debating which side of that line this one fell on.

I really wanted to be a good sport and read through this entire thread, but I hit a wall halfway through, so please forgive me if I end up repeating a question or stumbling onto an answer that’s already been given 😉. I'm looking for a band—nothing too fancy, honestly. Most of them seem to play basically the same setlist anyway. My only real "must-have" is that they need both male and female vocalists. The wedding is happening near San Diego, so ideally, I’d love to find someone based in that area, or maybe somewhere around Zadar or the San Francisco region. I figured bands from further away would probably just tack on extra travel fees anyway.

Is anyone actually active on this forum who’s stayed at the Hilton in downtown Chicago? 😢
I've got a decent offer from them—fixed price for food, though drinks are extra based on consumption.

They're claiming it's around $50-$23 per person, according to the hotel staff.
Does that sound realistic or is it a total joke? Seems a bit low to me...

Honestly, I have no idea what you expect to get for just ten bucks a head.
I’d be terrified to even book something like that. You run the risk of dealing with terrible food, incompetent staff, and basically everything else going wrong... 🤷

Even if someone offered me a standard menu for twenty dollars per person, I’d still find it suspicious or just plain too cheap.
Look, I’m not trying to break down their wholesale costs or anything, but you have to remember they actually need to make a profit while covering the cost of ingredients and paying their employees. How on earth can they stay afloat with only ten dollars per person?

In my humble opinion, just run the other way.

Clearly misunderstood 🤷
mostly, the $50-$23 per person is just for drinks
food price is $46 per person, plus I pay for the BBQ separately
ends up being about $35 for me in the end

Supposedly their food is great, and for the grilling, I'll just work it out with the chef who knows a local guy who can handle it

The point is, this is perfect if I need to host people coming from out of town and need a place to put them

That's why I'm asking if anyone actually has experience with this hotel. The hall doesn't look bad at all—large terrace, ocean view

And yeah, if this falls through, were you guys worried about the lodging itself, or was it more like "we can reserve a room for you, just let us know and pay later" type of thing?

I actually attended a party there once. The hall is fine—there are certainly nicer places, as the decor has a bit of that old-school mid-century vibe. The food was great, and the service was solid too. If they gave it a modern facelift, it would be perfect, but if your main concern is where the guests will sleep, it could work out okay. At the end of the day, a party is a party, and I don't think the quality depends on the room as much as it does on the people involved...🙂

Okay, that sounds much more reasonable now. Clearly, I misread the initial details, because $50-$$23 seemed a bit ridiculous to me.
$35 is a fair price, and from what I've gathered while asking around, that's pretty much the lowest rate you can find.
If the reviews from people who have been there are positive, then I'm on board. 🙂

Sure, the price seems fine, but the whole beer situation is the issue
It’s not a flat rate; they charge based on how much you actually drink. From what I've heard, it ends up being about $50-$23 per person, which... 🙂 does that sound too low to you?
Anyone here actually dealt with this before?

Yeah, another restaurant told me their food is great, but I'm looking for feedback from someone who was actually at a wedding there. How's the service, the food, all that?

I have a decent offer from them, but the beer thing is stressing me out. My only fear is getting absolutely fleeced on the tab and having the final bill be $23 instead of 4 times higher than expected :S

I've been there once, and honestly, I'm praying I never have to go back. That's all I've got.😢
