I am looking for some recommendations—specifically someone who can handle both makeup and hair. Does anyone have any suggestions?🙂

I cannot recommend Jane Doe highly enough—she is an absolutely phenomenal makeup artist! She handled the entire bridal party for my wedding, including my mother, the maid of honor, my cousins, and myself, and I have to say, every single one of us was beyond thrilled with the results. If you're looking for someone talented, she has a profile on Facebook where you can reach out to ask questions. In my professional opinion, her work is simply flawless.

Thanks 🙂. Whereabouts is she from? I'm definitely gonna reach out since I don't really know anyone in that area. Also, where did you guys get your Hairstyle and nails done?!

So, I was at a wedding in Des Moines yesterday over at John Doe's Salon, and man, it was such a blast! Seriously, the venue was gorgeous—super spacious with tons of room to move around, and everything was just so clean and tidy. The staff there? Absolutely amazing. They were hovering just enough to make sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive, you know? And oh my gosh, the band was incredible! They kept the energy so high that people were dancing the entire night. They played a great mix of traditional tunes and everything else, too. They actually have a lead singer, which was a nice touch. The group is called "Wild at Heart," and even though they’re basically a rock band, they can play just about anything! If you want to see some shots of the place, you can find them on Facebook—just search for John Doe's Salon.

So, now that a few days have passed since the wedding and I've had time to actually process everything, I can honestly say I soaked up every single second without a hint of stress or nerves 🤣

Zelenkrov's Salon did an absolutely flawless job, just as expected. The food came out hot—even though we were running about an hour behind schedule with the photos—and it was delicious... seriously, incredible. The servers were top-notch and super attentive. Major props there. 😉
The lighting? Total game changer. It sets the whole mood perfectly. Huge shoutout to the guy who handled that setup.
As for the wedding cake, it was exactly what I envisioned, both in how it looked and how it tasted. 😍
Huge thanks to Zoe Photography, our photographer Andrew, and the videographer Thomas. They were such a massive help and kept us laughing the entire time. 😂
The Right Band was awesome, though I do have one tiny gripe: we asked them to stay out front of the church to play a few extra songs, but they didn't stick around. Other than that, everything else was stellar. 😉
Matthew from Studio L nailed my hairstyle exactly how I wanted it. And for makeup? A massive round of applause for Antonia Gavran. She did a perfect job without a single complaint, even with that horrific finger injury... I just want to say a huge thank you to her because she truly made me feel special. 😍
I picked up my wedding dress from Nicholas, and I have to give his aunts a big thumbs up for being so kind. 😉
Fantasy Florist delivered everything I asked for, and I couldn't be happier with the results. 😉

If I missed anything, just ask! Honestly, I was so happy with everyone involved that even that sudden downpour didn't ruin my mood or my happiness for even a second. 😍😍

So, I actually went to a wedding where they played, and honestly, I thought they were fantastic! I mean, the dance floor was absolutely packed the entire night. I can't even remember if they took any breaks or anything (it was a June 29th wedding this year). They played a bit of everything—everything from Madonna and Gangnam Style to traditional folk songs. My only tiny gripe is that things slowed down a little during dinner; they played a bunch of acappella groups and some slower tunes, which was a bit dull, but hey, we were eating, so we survived! We were pretty hungry anyway, haha. 🤣 I guess the newlyweds specifically asked for that acappella style because they wanted it for their first dance. Anyway, big thumbs up from me! Everyone else seemed really happy too.

That’s awesome then. They’re playing our party on October 12th. We're meeting up in the Midwest, even though we don't live there. We'd never heard of them, but we booked them on a recommendation since everyone else we wanted was already taken (we tried to put down deposits in October, and everything was booked up). It turns out if you actually want a specific band and a venue you like on the date you want, you have to book them like a year and a half in advance. What a joke.

Based on what I've seen online, they seem pretty solid to me.

Based on their portfolio, I think they're awesome... Plus, a friend of mine used them and said she was super happy with the results!

I caught a set by the band Passage from Indianapolis recently; they’ve certainly got the vocals down, but honestly, they just lack that certain something.

I'll probably write up more details later.

Cheers!

That sounds a bit harsh—I think they're fine. Maybe they just don't suit everyone since they don't play country music. I was a guest at a wedding late last year and didn't mind them at all; the only people complaining were the ones begging for pop hits—luckily, there weren't many of them.😉

I have been reading this forum for quite a long time now, and I finally decided to register so that I could share my own experiences, which might perhaps be helpful to someone else. I got married two years ago, and this community truly helped me navigate several of my dilemmas. So, here is my experience—our wedding reception was held at Lucy's Hall (Zuka's), and I honestly have nothing but praise for them. I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, so I needed everything to turn out exactly as I had envisioned. Regarding the staff, the service, and the food at the venue, everything was more than perfect. The servers circulated among the guests all night; it felt as though no one was lacking anything for even a single moment. The food was superb (at least according to those who ate it; I didn't have much time since I spent the entire night on the dance floor 🙂), and some guests were actually surprised when their lamb arrived piping hot, noting that in other venues, it often isn't the case. I later learned they have a contract with a specific vendor who handles the roasting right there that evening. Ivanna, the venue manager, is truly a wonderful woman; she is incredibly accommodating and willing to work with any request you might have. The venue also includes a room for children with beds where they can sleep. A few kids stayed over at our wedding, and the parents gave us glowing reviews regarding the cleanliness of the room, the linens, and everything else. The newlyweds have access to a suite with a private bathroom upstairs. We brought our change of clothes for after the first dance, along with outfits for the following day, the day before. The suite was very tidy, spacious, and lovely. When we arrived at the venue, the head waiter and the manager greeted us and escorted us and the wedding party to our suite for a brief moment of relaxation (which was truly wonderful after two hours of photos). We were provided with whatever drinks we wanted in the room; we stayed for about half an hour before heading back down to the hall. We ordered our own cake, but everything else was provided by the venue. Unfortunately, the bakery where we ordered from is no longer in business (the owner closed up after her husband passed away), but the cakes were absolutely perfect. The band was Art (Mus). When we initially booked them, everyone told us we were crazy because they claimed the band only plays old-school country music and such, but from my firsthand experience—THEY PLAY WHATEVER YOU AGREE UPON! We didn't hear a single country song! They played everything: folk, rock, international hits, Balašević... you name it! Most people only stayed in their seats for the prayer and the anthem; the majority headed straight back to the dance floor because the music was constant. By the end, we practically had to beg people to leave around 6 AM... the band kept playing until the very last person left the floor! As for hair, makeup, and nails: for my hairstyle, I went to Studio 54. I didn't bother with a trial run; I just showed up on the wedding day with a photo of the style I wanted, and the stylist recreated it perfectly! I had my nails done privately by a specialist, and my makeup was done at Zora's Salon. Regarding the makeup, it was exactly what I wanted—a solid 5/5—but I did have to wait quite a while. Naturally, I wasn't seen at my scheduled time because there were other women ahead of me receiving cellulite treatments and eyebrow waxing and things like that. To be precise, I didn't get my turn until an hour and a half after my appointment, which frustrated me immensely since I had to rush through everything else afterward! So, Zora, 👎! My photographer was a friend of mine who has plenty of experience; he brought along another cameraman, but I won't mention his name since he doesn't have his own studio and I wouldn't want to cause any issues. I should mention, however, that the photos and the DVD are no less impressive than those produced by places like Studio 69 or Krizmanić, and both my husband and I are extremely satisfied. I also worked with a woman privately for the flowers, and she executed everything exactly like my inspiration photos, but at a much, much lower price. For example, local florists were quoting me anywhere from $350 to $167 just for the bouquet I wanted, but my total with her (my bouquet, the groom's boutonniere, five small bouquets for the flower girls, the car, and the hall decorations) only cost $300!!! And, I nearly forgot, the wedding dress—Atelier Stefanie. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!! When I went for my fitting, the consultant spent a good two hours with me trying on everything I liked. She helped me dress, undress, and adjust everything, all with a smile and without a hint of eye-rolling like some others might do! Once I chose the dress, she finally mentioned that, in her opinion, it was the one that suited me best, though she hadn't wanted to say anything during the other fittings because she didn't want to impose her views! I only had one fitting just four days before the wedding, even though I had placed my deposit ten months prior, and it fit me as if it had been custom-made specifically for me... All in all, that day was the most beautiful day of my life, and everything turned out exactly as I had imagined (aside from the waiting for my makeup)...

Hi everyone! I’m looking to gather some advice and firsthand experiences regarding live bands and photographers. For our band, we are specifically searching for a group with a female vocalist. Our top choice was originally SoundCloud, but unfortunately, they are already booked for our date on 😢. Right now, we are considering Twisties, The Band, or The Beach Boys. Personally, The Beach Boys and Twisties seem to have a much more upbeat and energetic vibe, but I am debating whether it is truly worth paying an extra $200 or $300 for them. If anyone here has attended a wedding where they were performing, I would love to hear your impressions...
As for photography, does anyone have experience working with Click photo and video? We looked into some of the major production houses, but their quotes are just astronomical. I have a feeling it might be possible to find high-quality work for significantly less money, wouldn't you agree?

I think all of those are great choices! Just stay away from Passage Band.
I've heard The Beach Boys and Twisties are wonderful!
Good luck!

I was at the convention center in Indianapolis this past Saturday, specifically in the Crystal Ballroom, watching the Viva Box band. Photography by Photo Krešo

I have to give them huge props for the venue itself—it was incredibly comfortable inside, and honestly, nobody was sweating through their clothes like they were in those other halls we visited

The layout was so easy to navigate, too. They had these lovely round tables set for eight, complete with beautiful satin bows on the chairs—though I will say, be careful because if you lean back too hard, those Velcro fasteners might just pop right off!
The food kept coming, and there was absolutely no shortage of drinks... I’m almost at a loss for words when it comes to the service. Everything was top-notch. If I were getting married in Indy, I’d definitely book them for my wedding guests without a second thought!!!

As for the band, they were absolutely perfect. It’s a duo with both a guy and a girl singing, and the girl is such a pro at keeping everyone engaged—she was entertaining the kids and the adults alike. Nobody stayed seated; everyone was out on the floor dancing! They really read the room, playing whatever the crowd wanted, from local hits to all the big international tracks

I haven't had a chance to look through the actual photos yet, but their thank-you note was sweet. Plus, seeing how many different services they offer and how high-end their equipment looks, I have zero doubts that the final shots are going to be stunning...

Anyway, that’s my two cents for anyone still weighing their options

We are currently hunting for the right venue. Regarding the music, all three mentioned groups are excellent—it really just comes down to personal taste. We attended a wedding where The Band played, and frankly, it was great. We recently reached out to them and grabbed two available dates while we finalize the venue. Please send over any suggestions—specifically, a solid venue that accommodates roughly 250 guests. Thanks in advance..🙂😉

If I had to choose, I would go with the second ballroom, though having attended several weddings there, I can confidently say the atmosphere is perfectly fine.

Kevin Smith7 said:Hi everyone,

I could really use some help. My makeup artist's schedule is completely packed, so I won't be able to book a trial session with her. Does anyone know of a talented, high-quality makeup artist located in the VK-ZU area or the surrounding towns? Please let me know if you have any recommendations!

Also, could someone explain how hair trials actually work? Is the stylist just showing you a rough idea of the look and then letting the hair down?

My stylist suggested she would just show me a preview and then immediately undo the style. Is that really how the process usually goes?

Thanks so much!

Did you manage to find a makeup artist? My professional has an incredible assistant who does phenomenal work and is willing to travel to you. If you are interested, I would be happy to send over her contact information via private message.🙂

I am looking for a talented nail technician in the Indianapolis area who provides high-quality service. I don't usually bother with professional manicures since my natural nails are quite healthy, but I would love to have some subtle, elegant enhancements for this upcoming special occasion—nothing too flashy or over-the-top.
