I don't know who gave me the tip, but someone on a forum mentioned everything there was a total steal. Honestly? I am beyond disappointed. I went in looking for those little edible toppers for cake decorations—you know, the ones you put on top of a fancy cake. And get this, that absolute nonsense cost me $93. Like, seriously?? It’s such a joke. And nothing about it felt cheap. Even getting some helium filled for balloons was $1.75. It’s just all so overpriced. Maybe I'm being a bit extra, but in my book, those little figurines are way too expensive, the selection is pretty pathetic, and the staff? Ugh. They barely even give you a nod, let alone actually help you out. So yeah, Vegas gets zero stars from me. 😢

I had a similar experience in Vegas. Everyone kept telling me to head over there to grab what I needed, but I ended up totally disappointed and walked out empty-handed. Just saving you the trip.

The Vegas Disaster for me too! I went there to order invitations, and the clerk was absolutely zero stars. It made me so mad because the price tag only covered the cards, but then you find out you have to pay extra for the envelopes! We didn't even want separate envelopes, so I thought we'd be paying $7.60 per invite, but it ended up being $10, plus $33 for the text formatting fee... Then she had the nerve to ask if I wanted matching thank-you notes at the end. I just said no thanks, I'll get them somewhere else. They are the absolute worst... the service and the prices are just awful.

I already picked up my dress over in San Francisco, but I'm not really feeling the little accessories at the shop where I got the dress. I have a specific vision in mind, so if anyone knows a good seamstress in the area who does great work, please let me know...

First, thanks for the heads-up about the balloons. I was genuinely curious about that, and I didn't feel like making the trip to Vegas myself. Thanks a lot. 😍
I'm not entirely sure about the price of those cake toppers (I think it was around $50, but don't hold me to it because I can't recall exactly), but I am CERTAIN I saw them at Bagaric Bakery in Chepin. They carry them in two sizes, if I remember right.
I ordered my cakes and dessert somewhere else, and the lady there offered to "rent" them to me for the cake (so I could return them later), but I turned her down because I wanted something custom. You might want to check other bakeries... they probably have them. It's always worth checking or, at the very least, giving them a quick call.

First off, has anyone here actually had the desserts or wedding cake at the Admiral Hotel? I'm trying to figure out if they're good enough—if not, I might just bring in my own caterer. Also, regarding the menu—should I stick to the traditional stuff like cabbage rolls (which, honestly, I can't stand), or go with something more modern? I'm overthinking this because the last thing I want is for my guests to leave hungry!
Second, does anyone have recommendations for a hair salon that isn't the famous David? I'm looking for a great makeup artist, someone skilled in skincare, maybe a tanning salon... you name it.
And finally, do you know a talented seamstress who could whip up some little dresses for the junior groomsmen?
Thanks in advance!

When I got married, I went with a more contemporary menu—and I actually requested quite a few tweaks, which they handled for me without bumping up the price. The desserts were absolutely fantastic, though I did pick out the specific varieties myself. Everyone kept asking me afterward where the sweets came from! We had everything from bite-sized treats and cakes to cream pies—you name it. Honestly, I don't think there's any need to spend extra money on outside desserts; you're much better off putting those funds toward something else.

Not sure if anyone cares, but those heavy-duty car bowties are available in Vegas—plus a few other spots I’ve spotted from $0.43. They aren't crazy expensive, but honestly, if you're traveling through Canada—specifically along the corridor—it's actually cheaper there, even though it's the exact same manufacturer. I picked some up while I was out; a 10-pack was only about two bucks, so basically $2.75 or less.

So, if you happen to be passing through that area—since it's pretty close for us Midwest folks—it's a nice little way to save some cash!

rapidfox42! Thanks!
Can you believe I've never actually driven through that corridor? 🙂
What else can you pick up over there that's useful for wedding prep? thanks

I actually picked up those bows in the hallway, though I spotted them over in Vegas too—but honestly, everything there is such a mess and feels so dirty compared to the hallway, which is way cleaner. I ended up grabbing some balloons in the hallway as well, $2.75 a whole pack of 100.

Heh, hey... no worries at all. If I can pass along at least one useful tip, then it's all good 😉. Man, I was really dreaming of those funny little figurines where the bride is basically dragging the groom along, or something equally wild, but once I saw the price tags, I realized I should probably just stick to some nice floral arrangements or something similar. My mom has some old toppers lying around, but honestly, they aren't really my style... 🙂

Oh, that’s awesome about those fancy bows! I checked both Hobby Lobby and Michaels, and they’re coming in at around $1.50 $0.57
I’m planning to head over to Corridor Crafts too, so I’ll let you guys know which one turns out to be the better deal
Does anyone happen to know how much those little roses cost at Corridor? I need a pretty large amount, but here at my local shop, it’s $1.50 only 12 pieces

Anyone got the scoop on that expo out in the Great Plains from February 12th to the 14th?

Found this online just now:
"The 2010 expo season kicks off with an event centered on togetherness, love, and joy. Two major events—the 4th Wedding Expo and the 3rd Indianapolis Children's Fair—will be held together as one massive showcase in Indianapolis at the Great Plains expo center from February 12–14, organized by ReedPop.
Weddings and welcoming a new baby are definitely life's biggest milestones. This expo serves as a comprehensive guide for young couples starting their journey and for those stepping into parenthood. It’s much more than just a show, though; it's a chance to see everything needed for weddings, engagements, baptisms, and similar celebrations. You can compare endless details to match your personal style and get expert advice for newlyweds, parents, and caregivers alike.
"

I didn't even realize there was another expo happening. Thanks for the heads-up, >. I'm definitely going. 😉

Oh boy... Don't scare me like that... 😕
I don't think the number matters at all..

Look, it doesn't really matter. As long as they have enough people on hand so they aren't working themselves into an early grave, I don't care.

I’ve honestly never heard of those little boys' party favors before...
If anyone actually knows what they are, please post it here—I'd love to be in the loop too😉😉

As for the stuff in the hallway, I’m planning to head down there myself to grab some grease, balloons, streamers, cookie boxes... that kind of thing
I’m just really curious about their specific balloons—I wonder if they deflate super fast? If anyone has actually tested them out, let me know 😉
And if any of you girls head over there before I do, could you please drop a comment about the prices?☕😍

I don't know what to tell you. Just sitting here. Not much else to say. kaže:
So, I just stumbled across this online:
"The 2010 expo season is looking pretty packed. We’re kicking things off with an event centered around togetherness, love, and good vibes. Basically, we've merged the 4th Wedding Expo and the 3rd Indianapolis Children's Fair into one big setup. It’s all happening over at the Great Plains exhibition grounds in Indianapolis from February 12th to the 14th, hosted by the Charlotte Convention Center.
Weddings and having kids—those are definitely the big ones, the moments that actually matter. This expo is basically a roadmap for anyone just starting out, whether you're planning a life together or getting ready to tackle parenthood. But honestly, it’s more than just a checklist. It’s your chance to see everything you'll need for weddings, engagements, baptisms, or whatever else you're throwing. You get to compare all those tiny details that make an event feel like "you," and you can grab some actual advice from pros who know what they're talking about—whether you're a bride-to-be, a new parent, or just someone helping out with the kids.
"

I didn't even realize there was another expo coming up. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll definitely be there. 😉

Maybe there'll actually be more vendors at this one than they had back at that expo in the Indianapolis hotel.👍

First time I'm hearing that too... honestly, doesn't seem relevant. Just pick based on how many people you want standing there. That's how it works, right?😉
If anyone actually knows the "rules" for this, they'll probably weigh in....

Just take a look at this... there's a bunch of stuff... might not look cheap, but maybe you'll find something that works for you.😉

Look, I’ve heard from a few people that most folks in that small town in Ohio where there are about five or six jewelry stores end up buying their wedding bands—and basically all their jewelry—there because the prices are great and the quality is solid. Apparently, even our local jewelers source their stock from those shops. Honestly, I’m a bit skeptical, but I’d love to hear what you guys think. If it turns out to be true, I am NOT wasting my money on our overpriced jewelers in SB if the exact same stuff is cheaper in Canada $333 than it is here
