There were two options at the trade show. I don't have their exact contact info handy, but someone will likely drop a recommendation in here soon.

Thanks. Honestly, I’m still weighing my options. I spend plenty of time watching MMA, and I find BJJ pretty compelling—traditional Jiu-Jitsu appeals to me too. What I’m really looking for is something substantial; I want a discipline that helps me get back into peak shape but also carries real utility if I ever actually find myself in a fight. I know everyone says Muay Thai and classic boxing are the gold standards, but they just don't sit right with me.

Honestly, this applies to life on the road just as much as anything else—if you actually function well enough to be out there in the first place. I mean, think about how many people out there haven't stepped foot in a gym in their entire lives, yet they’ve got the spirit of a heavyweight fighter. Why is that? It comes down to heart and mental toughness. You go out and train something that actually forces you to grow, something that pushes those boundaries, right? Because if you're lacking that grit, well, then what are you even doing?

Can you train Krav Maga if you're under 18?

I think 16 is usually the cutoff for those types of martial arts where age limits actually apply.

That’s sorted then... heading to Jiu-Jitsu now, we'll see how it goes

Street fighting is garbage. If you want to prove something, go find a gym, a ring, a school, a degree, a career, or even just some girls 👍 All of that will earn you way more respect than brawling in the streets. And once you have the respect, maybe you'll get the influence and the power too.

What kind of "proof" are we even talking about here? I’m hardly some kid. My question was simply about what actually carries practical value. I have no interest in wandering around looking for a fight—that was something I did more often when I was much younger, and even then, I wasn't out there seeking trouble. The reality is that there are heaps of techniques out there that look impressive, sure, but they rarely ever prove useful in a real situation.

I'm curious about Shark Gym over in Karlovac—anyone actually training there? 😁

Can anyone give me some firsthand insight into the pros and cons of Krav Maga? I’ve watched plenty of videos on it, but nothing beats actual personal experience.

I’ve got a quick question for you all. First, some context—I’m 16 years old, about 6 feet tall, and weighing roughly 175 lbs. I really want to start training Krav Maga, but I keep hearing from everywhere that I shouldn't start until I hit 18. My second choice would be Wing Chun. Can anyone recommend a club I could actually get to from the suburbs—somewhere near a place like Naperville or maybe closer to the city depending on the timing? Since I’m stuck in school during the afternoons, I don't get out until around 7:10 PM, so I’m wondering if there are any Wing Chun clubs with late sessions I could realistically make it to! 😁
Basically, my goal is to pick up a solid martial art, drop a little weight, and build up some muscle mass while I'm at it. I’m totally open to other suggestions, though—it doesn't strictly have to be Wing Chun. I just don't want to end up at some gym where they just beat the hell out of me every single session without actually teaching me anything useful.

BTW, sorry about the red text—I just wanted to make sure my question didn't get lost in the shuffle! 😁

There's Wing Chun over in the metro area near the city center.

I mean, I get it, but I just can't make it to training on time! It’s driving me crazy—everything is so close, yet it feels worlds away! 😁 My school is incredibly strict about this stuff; they wouldn't even let me slip out an hour early just to catch my session. They basically only grant permission if you're actually sick or something like that.

Training sessions kick off this Wednesday, September 2nd.
The crew is fantastic—really top-tier instructors—and you don't need any special gear or a specific age to join; they welcome all beginners with open arms.

How do they split up the weight classes for MMA cadets and juniors? Like, what’s the breakdown? 🤷

Then just go to that other one over on Main Street. It starts at 8.

I’m stuck over in Wing C, and honestly, I could really use a little help from the mice around here—specifically if they could find a way to help me slim down, because things are getting a bit heavy.

Ali izoštri reflekse i pomogne u cijelom procesu poboljšavanja forme. Zar ne?
I was thinking—maybe I’ll hit the gym on the side too, just to balance things out...
BTW, thanks for the tip about Bauer's; looks like I might actually head over there. I just need to double-check if I can make the trek from school in under 50 minutes—I think I can, though.
