Jamie Fowler2 said:How many "words" does Wing Chun actually have?

Countless! But there are just a few fundamental letters... and honestly, depending on how skilled the practitioner is, the number of "words" they can pull from those few letters changes entirely...β˜•

Did Baker actually go all in on this guy, or is he just messing with us?

George Martin70 said:Like I said, that guy Kevin 😈 teaches Bagua, so he might actually be able to use it in a fight. Have you seen his training sessions?

As you probably already know, you can't exactly just "watch" his training. But from the little bit I've heard and seen... it looks more like Mizongquan than Baguazhang.

I'm way more interested in the modern Jujutsu he's teaching.

uh, I meant letters.

Bruce, say it's got 7β€”press, grab, circle, embrace, drop, round, unify.

Can you drop the most common interpretations here? Or just hit me up in a DM if you're too shy to say it in public... πŸ˜‰

I’ll be putting something up on my blog soon... I'm going through some emotional stuff right now. 😒 🀣 😬 I just don't have the energy for this... πŸ‘Ž Women, women... who even came up with you? And then on top of that, you went and invented Wing Chun... πŸ™‚ 🀣 β˜•

No way Baker lost to some 5'5" Chinese guy. I mean, if Chinese guys were out there beating up Americans in downtown Chicago, we'd have bigger problems.🀣 The thing is, Baker invited him to the club to show off some Tai Chi, and they ended up sparring in Wing Chun. Honestly, the guy didn't stand a chance against Baker. Later on, the little dude was even bragging about how he was totally running circles around him in the gym.😬

Imagine if those guys were out there beating up Americans in downtown Chicago... 🀣 The point is, Baker invited this dude to the club to show off some Tai Chi, and then they ended up sparring in Wing Chun. Obviously, the guy was no match for Bakerβ€”later on, the little man was bragging about how he was basically tossing him around the gym all night. 😬

...and now that I've walked this guy off, I actually have the energy for this again 😬

I mean, how would Howard even do Wing Chun with anyone if he’s never actually trained it? What you're saying is like me asking you to try some Bruce drills right now, and then having some random person jump on this forum later calling you an idiot, a loser, and a total fraud who doesn't know anything...

Isn't the quote appropriate?

Everyone brings their own flavor to sparring... like, Baker uses his Wing Chun stuff, or Howard uses what he knows from Chen Tai Chi Chi Sao. Now, I bet you're gonna tell me: "Wait, Tai Chi doesn't even have Chi Sao!" πŸ‘

Look, chi sao is a game. Tui shou is a game. Different games, different rules. You said it yourselfβ€”they weren't even sparring...

Wing Chun isn't sparring... it's just drilling, nothing more... everything else people try to turn these drills into is just killing the skill itself. Very few people actually grasp the essence behind many Wing Chun techniques, the drills, and all that. 😒 β˜•

Alright, just so everyone's happy: they did some limited sparringβ€”nothing full contactβ€”focusing on sensitivity and redirecting force into thin air... 😠

So what was actually happening then? 🀣 πŸ™ At the end of the day, it looks like they were just fooling around, since someone was clearly trying to redirect "force" into nothingness without any actual contact πŸ™„ 😁 β˜•

😬 😬

was gonna say something similar, but I can't top that...

Basically, they weren't actually trying to hurt each other
