Things might play out differently this time around. Back when the R9 280X was the gold standard for mining, we saw a massive coin surge that sent everyone into a frenzy, causing people to dump their hardware like crazy. But the landscape has shifted. Mining isn't going to see those explosive, irrational spikes ever again, so I don't expect a sudden flood of GPUs hitting the market. At most, we might just see things stabilize slightly regarding both new stock levels and the pricing for used cards.

Bitcoin crashed back then because mining got way too intense once ASICs hit the scene.

Now, Ethereum is holding relatively steady, but mining isn't nearly as profitable as it used to be. I think a lot of people mining on standard gaming GPUs—stuff they could actually flip for a decent profit—are going to pull the plug and just recoup their hardware investment.

There was another currency out there too, though the name escapes me right now. It really flexed alongside Bitcoin, which probably gave it some momentum even after Bitcoin took a dip. My point is this: even if Ethereum takes a hit, it’s not like the whole market is going to go belly up and everyone will just quit. Even if that happens, there are still plenty of other coins holding steady or climbing. I truly believe there will always be something worth mining; basically, this industry isn't going anywhere.

It’s definitely not going to happen like Bitcoin did. Since you can't mine Ethereum with an ASIC, it won't completely wipe out GPU mining overnight. That said, for a lot of people, the returns are getting dangerously close to the cost of electricity. They might just be better off selling their cards while they still hold some decent value for gaming.

Don't they offer those specialized USB mining sticks that tend to be more cost-effective and efficient than standard graphics cards?

Well, something along these lines: https://www.google.com/search?q=usb+mining+sticks&aqs

It would truly be a game-changer if miners finally started investing in these devices and moved away from relying on SD cards altogether. However, I have decided to exercise a bit of patience for now; there isn't a massive rush on my end, so I went ahead and canceled my order. Perhaps I will pick something up in the middle of winter, though I suspect that by then, everything I’ve been eyeing might have seen a bit of a price drop.

Exactly what I was getting at. Using AHIC for Bitcoin. But Bitcoin’s already moved on, and you can't mine Ethereum with AHIC—that's just not how it's built.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some honest takes on the Nvidia quadro p600. Do you think this thing actually holds its own for someone who basically lives inside Photoshop, Illustrator, and AutoCAD? I’m doing a mix of photo editing, video work, vector stuff, and some 3D modeling too. If you think I’m dreaming and need to step up to something beefier, please, don't hold back with the suggestions. I'm definitely trying to keep things budget-friendly, but I can swing up to about $3,500$1333..

Decent pricing on these $833 killer RX 580 8GB models click here, click here
.
There are some basic 4GB versions available for about $5 less, but honestly, there’s zero point in grabbing those when you can have these two instead.

I have a rather specific question, and since I am somewhat unsure which subforum would be most appropriate for this inquiry, I shall pose it here: Over the last few days, I have noticed several vendors on eBay claiming that the graphics cards they are selling still carry an active warranty, even going so far as to present a warranty certificate from ASBIS. However, the document explicitly states: 'Usage Instructions: No manual is provided with this product as it is intended to be installed exclusively by an authorized technician. Installation by an unauthorized individual will void the warranty.' Does this not imply that these cards have effectively lost their coverage, given that they were removed from their original systems and are now being installed by unauthorized parties—namely, the end consumer?

When you factor in shipping and sales tax, we are looking at roughly $300. It is quite a significant amount of money to commit during these economically challenging times, especially considering the card isn't even expected back in stock until December 8th.

Then there is this option; based on the technical specifications, it is an exceptionally high-quality case for such a reduced price point. I would honestly pull the trigger on it myself if the physical dimensions weren't still just a bit too large for my current setup: https://www.caseking.de/bitfenix-aeg...-gebf-165.html

Doesn't that basically mean they lost the warranty the second they pulled them out of a rig to sell them?

I guess I've never heard of anyone actually getting screwed over because of that, unless you break something and then they claim you messed up the install yourself...

Including shipping and tax, it’s $276. That’s a solid price given how expensive everything is right now. It should be back in stock on December 8th.

Check this one out too. Based on the specs, it’s a great case for the price. I’d grab it myself if it weren't still a bit too big for my setup: https://www.caseking.de/bitfenix-aeg...-gebf-165.html

Decent deal on an RX 580.
I'll pick it up when I get home.

Is there a way to pay them directly without having a foreign currency account?
I picked the prepayment option instead of PayPal, but when I got home, the PayPal price had already changed.

I picked the upfront payment option instead of PayPal, but by the time I got home, the PayPal price wasn't even showing anymore.

Depends on your bank and how their system handles things.
In theory, sure—your account gets hit in dollars—but honestly, it rarely works smoothly in practice. For me, using Chase is a pain; I always have to select a specific account just to make sure the currency stays as ECB.

Give Wise a shot. Their fees are decent, and they usually pull from your card or a local transfer. It basically works by keeping the money domestic; they take your cash here and then pay out the recipient from a local account over there.

I truly cannot stress enough how much you ought to give it a try. Furthermore, I find myself wondering why you wouldn't simply utilize PayPal, unless, of course, you don't currently have an account set up?
