I had some light spotting on the exact day I was supposed to get my period, too...
but I honestly don't get why this OBGYN is refusing to even examine you...it’s just ridiculous...if I were in your shoes, I’d just find someone else or, if they still won't do the exam, just demand they run the beta test right now.

They kept me under observation for two days while I was pregnant, but they didn't find anything because it was just too early... nothing can be seen at five weeks. Your best bet is to get a beta test done.

Honestly, the most reliable move is just to ditch the beta entirely... because for me, every single time felt like I was bracing for a massive hit, except instead of pain, my digestive system just went like, nooooooo stooooooooop while I was stuck in the bathroom

Noah Howard said:Look, those tests can be total flakes sometimes. Honestly, you’re probably better off just hanging tight for a few days and then trying again first thing in the morning. If that one still comes up negative, go see a doctor just so you can finally stop stressing out and get some peace of mind. I'm rooting for you... really hoping you see that positive sign soon... just like all us girls are hoping for.
By the way, do you have any advice for me???

I'm not entirely sure, but since you mentioned having had a miscarriage, it's possible your body is still recovering, which could explain that brownish discharge. I remember hearing from someone who went through a similar experience that it takes about six months for your system to fully reset before you should start trying to conceive again.
Try not to worry too much right now. Just give it a little time and see if things settle down on their own.
It’s honestly baffling to me why your OB-GYN isn't able to perform an exam.🙂

Thank you so much for the response!

Has anyone else experienced this? I had a pregnancy test come back negative, but it turns out I actually am pregnant. It feels so strange because I’m certain I followed the instructions perfectly.

I remember one day when I was taking the test, the entire little window where the result appears suddenly turned red right after I applied the urine. Then, just as quickly, the color faded away and left me with a negative result—just that single line. (Usually, you're looking for two lines if it's positive.)

Home pregnancy tests work by detecting an increase in hCG levels. Since those hormone levels rise at different rates for everyone, timing is everything... If you can pinpoint exactly when ovulation occurred, testing about 14 days later should give you a clear result if you're pregnant. Most instructions suggest waiting until your period is actually late, and if you still get a negative result but your cycle hasn't started, you should definitely retest a few days later. That short window is usually enough time for the hormone levels to climb high enough for the test to finally trigger a positive, assuming there is actually a pregnancy involved.

I actually ovulated 23 days ago, which means I took the test 20 days after ovulation. I’m going to grab another one and test first thing in the morning. Honestly, maybe I'm just overthinking the whole thing, which might be why my cycle is running so late.🙂)
thanks for such a thorough explanation

Just took another test and it’s negative... like, totally negative. No more doubting it now.

help,
I've been dealing with this infamous brown spotting for two days now, and it seems to be getting heavier.
Then this morning, it actually started flowing—about three or four days earlier than expected. Usually, I get that distinct feeling beforehand, you know? Like a warning sign that my period is coming tomorrow.🤷But this time, nothing. Just total silence.
Is there any chance I could be pregnant? Or am I just being delusional because it feels way too early to even bother with a pregnancy test?😉

Well, if you're actually bleeding heavily, it's unlikely you're pregnant😕

And if it's just spotting and not your actual period, I'd suggest waiting until the day you were originally supposed to start...😉

swiftorca14, congrats. I’m going through the exact same thing right now. My last period was December 11th, and things have been happening right around Christmas. I’ve got sore breasts—not swollen, just tender—and after two days of dark spotting, it’s gone quiet, leaving just some whitish-yellow discharge. Dealing with typical PMS cramps too, but I haven't taken a test yet.

I really didn't want to rush into taking a test just to deal with the potential heartbreak, but my patience finally hit its limit. :-))))

Just take the test and get some actual answers. Personally, I'm still dealing with those nagging aches like my period is imminent, and as for the breast situation... well, let's just say they're finally reaching the size I've always wanted. 😍

analogski12, regarding that spotting—I had it for about two days, right when my period was supposed to start, and then it just stopped. It wasn't heavy like usual, and the color was definitely darker.
And I really hope you're pregnant too, assuming that's what you're aiming for.

First off, huge congratulations on that positive result!!! 🙂

Honestly, it feels a bit off for me too. It isn't heavy, and the color is much darker than my normal flow.🤷
This is our first cycle trying, so I don't want to get ahead of myself.
Still, I know exactly how the first day of my period usually feels, and this? This isn't quite it... ☕

In my case, I had some spotting on the day I expected my period, but it was much lighter than usual, so who knows... 😁
Anyway, wishing you the best of luck

Is it too early in the day to head over to the local incense shop for some more sticks? :kokoš:

Well, if you were expecting that windfall to hit your account in just a few days, I suppose it’s a bit of a wait... 😬

You could certainly give it a shot, though there is always that lingering risk of unnecessary disappointment if the numbers end up in the red. Then again, it might actually turn out to be a gain 🤷

Hey ladies, my period is four days late. Took a test, nothing but a single line. Bummer.

That’s exactly what I’m dreading. Mine is two days late right now, but I've had instances where it dragged on for three weeks before finally showing up.

My cycle hits every 28 days like clockwork. It’s always consistent. So now I’m sitting here genuinely confused about how this is considered "irregular" just because it showed up five days late. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of logic before?

It might just be too early to tell; pregnancy tests can be notoriously unreliable if you don't wait long enough.
hollowpilot58, any insights from your end?
