Carol Thomas52 said:My cycle consistently runs longer than the standard 28 days—I’m looking at anywhere from 28 to 33. It feels like I'm constantly waiting for something that's overdue...

And how on earth do you not realize you're most fertile during these specific days rather than right after your period ends?

She probably already knows, she was likely just double-checking if getting pregnant is actually possible! There's no need to come at her; this forum exists so people can ask questions without feeling ashamed and get some answers instead of a lecture.

Look, I'm not attacking her. It’s just hard for me to wrap my head around how someone who's sexually active wouldn't have even a vague idea of when their fertile window is.

Oh, believe me, I know exactly when your fertile days are...

Asking is always a safe bet, isn't it? 🙂

Honestly, not really.

A friend of mine went through the exact same thing.

She walked into her OBGYN's office acting like she was heading into an ER at Mayo Clinic.

The doctor basically kicked her out. He couldn't handle the fact that a woman in her early 20s didn't understand the basic mechanics of her own cycle. It was embarrassing for him.

It isn't really about whether you knew better or not; when something like that happens, a wave of panic just hits you, and suddenly you find yourself questioning everything you thought was certain.

Hey everyone!

I'm not totally sure if I'm in the right spot here, but I was wondering... could these crazy cravings be a sign? Like, I have been obsessing over pickled peppers so hard that I basically drove all over town looking for them (but they were nowhere to be found!) and I've just been dreaming about them for like seven days straight. They sound so incredibly good... thank god my husband finally tracked some down for me yesterday. Also, about two weeks ago, I had this massive craving for apple pie that was so intense I just had to bake it myself—I could practically smell it in my nose while it was still rising in the oven...

And oh my gosh, the smells... last night I could smell cheeseburgers right after we were intimate, and today I'm catching whiffs of everything from bakery bread to street tacos just walking through downtown. It's like everything smells like something! And last night, I had this weird taste in my mouth, kind of like canned food or metal, or maybe just sour...
I don't know, maybe I'm just imagining things because we really want a baby. We've been trying for about two months now, though we haven't been having much sex lately because my husband has been under a ton of stress at work, so he hasn't really been in the mood... We actually decided to stop tracking everything and promised not to stress about it and just let it happen when it happens, but honestly, we both want this so badly and would be over the moon if it happened right away.

So, I'm 21 and he's 29, and we've been married for a little over a year. My cycles aren't super regular—they usually come every 35 to 40 days—so I try to guess my fertile window, but it's never really exact. I did miss my period back in November and December, but that's happened once every couple of years before. I saw an OBGYN twice a few years ago and everything was totally fine then.

As for other stuff, my breasts feel swollen, my discharge has a weird scent, and I'm peeing constantly (though I usually pee pretty often anyway). I've never felt anything this intense before, like I'd do literally anything just to have someone bring me what I'm craving, and those smells!

Sorry again if I'm posting this in the wrong place!
Best,

Hey
I was hoping some of you kind souls could weigh in with some advice.
So, I’m 24, have a boyfriend, and we’re actually planning to get married next year and all that. Last week, around March 1st, we were out having a few drinks and he tells me, "I'm gonna make you a baby tonight." I figured he was just being drunk and messing around... but then we had sex on day 12 of my cycle, right at the start of my fertile window, and he finished inside. Now I'm wondering what you girls think... when should I actually take a pregnancy test to get an accurate result?
thanks in advance

Hey everyone!
Just another worried mom checking in here—and honestly, I’m begging all you experienced ladies for some advice because I can’t even bring myself to ask my own mother. She’ll absolutely lose her mind thinking she’s about to become a grandmother and just spiral from pure joy! 🙂
So, my husband and I were together during my most fertile window—I track everything religiously, and since my cycle is a perfect 28 days, this was day 14—and he finished inside. Since then, over the last few days, things have been... intense. My lower back is aching like crazy, my breasts are so sensitive that even looking at them hurts, let alone touching them. I feel like I’m running to the bathroom every five minutes, and by the evening, the nausea hits—though I somehow manage to hold it down. And this morning? The smell of bacon wafting from somewhere was so overwhelming I actually got out of bed and opened the window just to see if a neighbor was grilling! My mood is a total rollercoaster right now; one minute I’m sobbing, the next I’m laughing.
I’m not even sure if this belongs in this specific thread, but I’m so high-strung I don't know what else to do. We want this baby so badly, but God, am I being too optimistic? Am I setting myself up for massive disappointment? Could all of this actually mean I'm pregnant? My period isn't due until March 16th, so I know there's still a wait, but is it okay to hope? I'm terrified these aren't just PMS symptoms, because while I've dealt with PMS for fifteen years now—ever since I started my period at ten—my back has *never* hurt this much before.
Please, I need some insight! Based on everything I've said, is it reasonable to start hoping?
Thanks in advance.

I think you can hold out hope 🙂—you’ve got all the textbook symptoms, though—unfortunately, those can just be psychosomatic when you're this desperate for a baby. Just wait until the 16th and take a test. Wishing you a big

Best,

Just grab a pregnancy test if you're expecting your period soon. It’ll most likely come back positive. That metallic taste in your mouth is usually a giveaway, and that weird discharge can happen too.
Either way, just get it ordered through your OB-GYN.
I hope you get that bonus.😉

Looks like I’m the last one left here—clearly, there aren't many of us just sitting around waiting for the clock to run out before we finally bite the bullet and buy a test. 🙂
I was actually tempted to go grab one of those early detection tests—you know, the ones that claim they can spot a plus or minus sooner than others—but I held myself back. I'm sticking to the date, March 16th, unless I somehow find out earlier, because honestly? I still have no clue if this is actual news or if it's just my PMS acting up again. I am beyond frustrated right now—just completely on edge. My husband has been trying to play peacemaker, keeping me calm and making sure I don't have to lift a finger, just "to be safe," as he puts it. He’s basically handling everything—doing the dishes, running the laundry... today, I pretty much just managed to whip up some soup. 🤣 Writing this all out is the only way I can keep from losing my mind. Anyway, the symptoms haven't budged. The only thing is my breasts—they are incredibly sore and, oh my god, HUGE. It feels like an eternity until the 16th.

You can get an answer sooner with a blood test. Just check your beta HCG levels and then you'll know for sure. I had mine done after I saw a 😛 + on a home test at a local clinic—like if you're in NYC. The first test is usually $40, but every follow-up to make sure the levels are doubling correctly will cost $20.
That's the move for the impatient ones, if you really can't wait until the 16th...

Thanks, but I’m going to wait until I actually have to pee before I take the test! Honestly, I have no idea how I’m even going to pull this off—it's going to be a struggle—but I'm giving it my best shot.
