I actually took a test when I was 11 days past ovulation and it came back negative, but now that I’m at 16 dpo and my period still hasn't arrived, I’m thinking about giving it another shot tomorrow.🙂

You can technically take it as early as 12 days post-ovulation, though if you want any kind of peace of mind, I’d say holding out until at least 14 days post-ovulation is the way to go. 😉
But honestly? You really have to factor in whether you actually had late ovulation to begin with.

I started bleeding last night, so I ended up heading over to the ER at Mount Sinai today... since that's what they told me to do. The doctor who saw me wasn't exactly thrilled to see me either 🙄. Now I’ve got a whole list of tests to go through, and it just keeps going... there's never an end to it...😢

Carol Moore27 said:If I'm following you correctly, you're in your fourth week now? Your period is late, but you took that test over a week ago. Honestly, just go take another one right now—it might actually show up this time. That first one was probably way too early, and I don't think the doctor can see anything on an ultrasound just yet anyway.

Too early? Oh, man, you're right. I totally forgot about my crazy endometrial lining issues.
The real kicker is that my breasts have been incredibly sore for a few days now. Like, seriously painful—I can barely even touch them! On top of that, the cramps in my stomach are getting more frequent and intense every single day. It feels like a constant wave hitting me.
I think I'll hold off until Monday before grabbing a new test, but I just wanted to check in so I don't drive myself crazy with worry.

Ethan Rivera95 said:Sorry to barge in here, but I have a bit of a silly question! My local pharmacist mentioned that you can take a pregnancy test as early as the fifth week. It got me wondering—is it actually possible for a doctor to miss a pregnancy on an ultrasound during the fourth week? Thanks!

A bit late to the party...

If you haven't heard back yet, yeah, you can technically take a test starting around week 3—or more accurately, the very first day your period is supposed to show up. But honestly, waiting a day or two until you're actually late is probably your best bet.

As for that ultrasound at week 4? It's almost impossible to see anything. We're talking microscopic stuff. At that stage, any little bump or even a tiny cyst in the uterus could easily be mistaken for an embryo.

You usually don't see that tiny little dot until maybe week 5 or 6.

Ethan Rivera95 - I honestly think you could probably take a test right about now... like, how many days until you expect your period to show up, and what was your day after ovulation? From what I remember, your doctor mentioned a thickened uterine lining, and if I'm not mistaken, that’s just the body getting everything ready for a pregnancy, though I can't be totally sure... 😉
ekonomski - hey, did you end up taking a test yet?

Could use some advice 🙂 So, I had my period on August 29th, but it was weirdly short and much heavier than usual—plus, I didn't have any of my typical symptoms, like cramps, breast tenderness, or those sugar cravings... after three days of bleeding, I had this heavy discharge that lasted for four days (which has honestly never happened before)... then about a week ago, my breasts started feeling sore... today they're doubled and actually painful... even though my next period isn't due yet. My breasts never hurt like this for no reason. If I were pregnant, I guess I'd be about three weeks along—would a test actually show a clear result by now? Looking for advice from people who've been through this 🙂 Thanks 🙂

I don't claim to be an expert, but I am in the exact same boat as you! Only, by my math, I might be a little over 4 weeks along. I took a test last Monday and it came back negative, but apparently, tests won't catch a pregnancy until you're at least 4 weeks in. That’s what the pharmacist told me, and I trust their word. So, my advice? Just hang in there and wait another week or so. My breasts and stomach are starting to ache more and more every day, too.

Based on how things work, if you're pregnant, you've actually been pregnant since month 8, which makes your "weeks" count higher.

To get an actual calculation, you'd need the date of that period from July.

August 29th.
Let's say last period was July 30th + 7 days = August 6th, first day of conception (roughly speaking).
If that's the case, you might be around 5 or 6 weeks along right now if you are.

Just go grab a test and take it in the morning. Seriously. If you've been pregnant since last month, it should definitely show up by now....

(PS: Experienced lady here, had 6 pregnancies...🤣)

There's one more catch 🙂 I saw my OB-GYN back on August 19th and everything seemed fine—he even mentioned the following day would be my peak fertility window if I was trying for a baby... so, we went for it 🙂 which means I might be about three weeks along now (if that's even possible), though I can't say for sure...
I’d take a test myself, but honestly, if it comes back negative while these symptoms persist, I think I might lose it—because I really don't think I'm imagining this—the breast tenderness alone is just... well, you wouldn't believe it 🙂)))))))))))))))))))

Snoopy Pregnancy is actually calculated from the first day of your last period, rather than the moment of conception. I suppose you're assuming that this recent bleeding wasn't your actual period, but perhaps just the date you expected it to arrive? If that's the case, maybe it might be worth taking a test now.

Yeah, but I’m such a mess—it doesn't really count until after fertilization, I guess 🙂)))))))))) honestly, I've just totally lost track of everything... nothing much to say, I suppose I'll just wait a few more days before finding out 🙂
My period is usually incredibly late, so when my last one actually showed up, I was genuinely caught off guard. My previous one was around July 30th, so I wasn't expecting this one until about September 5th—but it arrived way ahead of schedule (my cycles usually run about 34-37 days)

I'm completely confused, I don't even know what to think anymore 🙂

Are you anticipating a bit of extra luck, or would a sudden windfall catch you completely off guard?

God, I would be absolutely thrilled!!!!! But honestly—I'm a little nervous about actually taking the test, just so I don't end up disappointed 🙂

If you were actually pregnant, you’d probably be nearing the six-week mark by now, which means a test should have given you an answer. I suppose if you truly have the temperament to just wait until your next period or until some other symptom shows up just to be certain, then I guess I have to admire that level of patience. Personally, I don't think I could 😁

So, if your doctor told you back on August 19th that tomorrow would be your peak fertility day—basically ovulation—and you guys went for it the next day, August 20th... then that spotting on the 29th sounds like classic implantation bleeding. It fits perfectly since it’s about nine days after ovulation.
It feels a little early for Ryan Morris15 to be looking at August 29th if ovulation was actually around the 20th like the doctor said. You should probably just take a test right now!

Carol Moore27, I find that just as unsettling—honestly. I’m planning on taking a test tomorrow, assuming it isn't too soon, I suppose—so we’ll see how things go... I'll definitely let you know 🙂

If things are going the way I think they are, a daily urine test should already show whether you can hold it for about four hours. But, hey, maybe wait until tomorrow when you're feeling more patient. Good luck. Definitely keep us posted!
