Novynette pills contain 0.02 mg of ethinyl estradiol and 0.15 mg of desogestrel.

You take them for 21 days, then take a 7-day break.
🤷So, there you go. That’s what it means for you.

first things first, I’m totally new to this forum🙂

so, I have been scrolling through an absolute mountain of posts about all these different pills and everything else
and from what I can tell, Novynette seems pretty new on the scene, which explains why not many people here are talking about it.
most of you guys seem to be on Yaz, Yasmin, or Diane-35.
but, I was wondering if anyone who’s actually been on Novynette for a few months, or even longer, could weigh in with their actual experience?
I just started my very first pack, so I'm trying to figure out what I'm getting into. 🙄
Honestly, I'm low-key freaking out about the whole water retention thing, weight gain, and all that stuff.😢

Hey.
Listen, I've dealt with this enough to know how it works. If you've spent any time reading up on birth control, you should already realize there’s no universal rulebook here. What works for one woman might be a total disaster for another. You've got the old-school pills loaded with heavy hormone doses, and then you have the modern versions that are much lighter. Every formula is different. It’s like trying to find the right pair of shoes—you have to test them out to figure out which specific brand and fit actually works for you.

Look, nobody can tell you which ones are best for you—not your gynecologist, and certainly not anyone on this forum. You have to experience them firsthand. Stick with them for at least three months to see the reality. If they don't work, swap them out. Water retention, a drop in libido, weight gain or loss, mood swings, breast tenderness... those are just a few of the red flags you need to watch for over the coming months. You'll figure it out. It’s entirely possible you won't even deal with any of those symptoms.😉

I switched from Novynette because they weren't doing it for me. Honestly, I’ve cycled through plenty of other brands already—I'm still hunting for the one that actually fits my system. If you ask me? I wouldn't touch any of them if it were up to me, but since my health is on the line, I don't have much of a choice. 🙂

Good luck!

So, I finally started taking Yasminelle, and honestly? It’s been a total game-changer. My libido is back to how it used to be—like, old school levels—and I can actually feel my weight stabilizing too. No more feeling bloated all the time, my mood is way more balanced, and just... everything else is just better. Seriously, it's the best. Too bad they haven't released it here in the States yet. 😢

I figured I’d jump in here too—I’ve been on Novynette for about three months now, and I’m just starting my fourth pack. I have to say, they’ve been working pretty well for me. The only side effect I’ve noticed is some mild headaches in the evenings, but that’s really it. At least, so far.
After just three months, my PMS symptoms have basically vanished, and my period wasn't painful at all—just a tiny little thing. I originally started taking them because of PCOS. I used to have some pretty serious issues with my ovaries (I actually ended up in the hospital twice because of the intense pain), but even after such a short time on these pills, my cycle has stabilized, and I'm not dealing with the stuff I used to. So yeah, these pills are great for me. 😁😁

Now, I actually have a question for you guys—does anyone know how long it usually takes for your skin to clear up after starting birth control? My face hasn't cleared up yet, though I do deal with those little breakouts along my chin.

How does an antibiotic (in my case, Augmentin) affect how birth control works?
Basically, I’m supposed to start an antibiotic today for an infection. The pharmacist told me I shouldn't really notice any difference and that they don't interfere with each other, but I’m pretty skeptical. I've heard from other sources that it might actually lower the effectiveness of the pill. 🤷

Hey, I found this online and figured it might be useful for some of you:

Medications that can lower the effectiveness of birth control pills
Carbamazepine
Ethosuximide
Metronidazole
Phenobarbital
Phenytoin
Primidone
Rifampin
Tetracycline
Troglitazone

Birth control may decrease the effectiveness of these:
Clofibrate
Lorazepam
Oxazepam
Temazepam
Salicylates

Birth control might boost the effects of these:
Benzodiazepines
Beta blockers
Caffeine
Corticosteroids
Tricyclic antidepressants
Theophylline

I just read that Augmentin is actually Amoxicillin, which isn't even on this list 🤔 Now I'm trying to call my OB-GYN, but of course, she isn't picking up 🙄

Jeffrey Walker3 said:It’s way easier if you just remember—your first pill is always on day one. Don't even bother counting when you took the last one, it just makes things harder 😬

So basically, if you get your period on Monday and take that first pill, your first dose is always on Monday 😁

Ugh, okay, I'm about to ask a totally stupid question😳
The first pill in my pack is marked with "Mon" (which means Monday😳). So, here's the deal: I take the first pill on the day my period starts, but what happens if my period shows up on Wednesday, or any other day besides Monday? Do I still just grab that first pill in the pack labeled "Mon," or what?🙂

Classic. Hilarious.🤣 Every pill pack starts on Monday because that’s how they label the first day of the week. But don't let that trip you up—you don't have to start at the very beginning of the strip. You start on whatever day your period actually kicks in and just follow the arrows from there. So, if your cycle hits on a Wednesday, pick any of the three pills marked "Wednesday" and just keep following the arrow to the right. Hopefully, that makes sense. It’s probably all laid out clearly in the instruction manual, too.😉

So, if you start your period on a Wednesday, you just take the first pill that same Wednesday. Basically, you're taking that very first tablet on the actual day your cycle kicks off—you know, the first day of your period.

It looks like you only sent "Da"—was that a typo, or were you about to start a thought? Either way, I'm here whenever you're ready to dive in!
So, when you’re just starting out with those pills—like, on day one—you always have to kick things off with the initial dosage. It's basically like setting the baseline before everything else settles in.
So, after that—it’s always on the exact same day, no matter when you actually get your period. It’s like having a built-in calendar you never asked for.
You'll most likely get it before you even touch your first pill—since they usually hand them out during the break.

Yeah, I figured that was the deal, but I wanted to double-check just to be 100% sure.😁
Thanks, girls!😍

Ugh, I know. Just the thought of having to swap brands ten times before finding the right fit—or worse, gaining a ton of weight—makes my skin crawl.😢
Anyway, I'm taking them for contraception.
Hoping for the best.
Good luck to you too.👋

Hey everyone 🙂
So, I'm wondering if anyone on this thread has switched from Triquilar to something else?
I've been on them consistently for two and a half years now.
On one hand, they were recommended because my PCOS means I can go six months without a period; on the other, there's the protection factor.
The thing is, I'm not exactly thrilled with them.
My appetite is constantly through the roof (granted, I have issues with diet, so that plays a part), and I can't lose weight to save my life—I've put on 20 pounds since starting these.
But the real dealbreaker is the libido drop. It’s huge. I have almost zero drive. I honestly can't tell if it's the pills or just me, since I've been taking them longer than I've been seeing my boyfriend. Maybe I'm asexual? 😁 Doubtful.
Has anyone here switched from Triquilar and dealt with these exact same symptoms? I'd really appreciate some recommendations on alternatives.
Unfortunately, my gynecologists (two of them, actually) basically just tell me to stick with it because my blood work looks fine. My skin is okay, and while I'm about 25 pounds overweight, I'm tall enough that it doesn't show too much.
Anyway, I've rambled. Basically, what should I switch to? What would be the best move for someone in my position? It seems like not many people here use Triquilar.
Thanks in advance!

I’ve had just about enough of this nonsense! Honestly, how many times do we have to go over the same ground before it finally sinks in? It’s exhausting. Every single time a new thread pops up, it’s the exact same circular arguments, the same tired excuses, and the same lack of basic common sense. It makes my blood boil! And don't even get me started on what **John Thomas2** said earlier. "It's not that big of a deal," they claim. Not a big deal?! Are you kidding me? That is a complete dismissal of the actual facts sitting right in front of us. It’s intellectually lazy, plain and simple. Then you have **goldentinker79** chiming in with those overly optimistic takes that completely ignore the reality of the situation. It’s easy to be positive when you aren't the one dealing with the fallout. We need logic. We need substance. Instead, we get this endless loop of superficial chatter. It is infuriating! If we can't have a serious discussion based on actual evidence, then what are we even doing here? I'm done playing nice about it. Fix the discourse or stop wasting everyone's time! kaže:
How does an antibiotic—in my case, Augmentin—affect the effectiveness of birth control pills? I’m using Yaz.
Look, I was supposed to start a course of antibiotics today for an infection, and honestly? I’m feeling incredibly skeptical. I stopped by the local CVS, and the pharmacist there gave me the standard line—telling me that, in principle, I shouldn't feel any side effects and that one won't interfere with the other. But give me a break! I’m not buying it. I’ve read enough from other reliable sources to know that there's a real possibility these drugs could dampen the effectiveness of my birth control. It feels like they’re just brushing off a legitimate concern with a "don't worry about it" attitude. I don't know... something about it just doesn't sit right with me. 🤷

Look, you really ought to check in with your gynecologist first. Seriously. But if you're asking my take? Personally, I think they can be taken together.

Hey Pipi, I was on Triquilar too and my libido totally tanked. Weight and appetite were fine, but the low drive and those wild mood swings after three years on the pills were just brutal.
But honestly, I stopped anyway because we’re trying for a baby, so I didn't even bother switching to something else.

Seriously though, just tell your OBGYN about the libido thing—I don't see why they wouldn't switch you to something else. It's still a side effect, even if it isn't super obvious to everyone else!
