Hi,

Does anyone know the typical wait time for a scintigraphy scan, ideally in Seattle? I'm also open to hearing about experiences in Washington, D.C.

Thanks in advance.

So, I’m looking at this laundry list of labs—LH, FSH, estradiol, progesterone, prolactin, testosterone, androstenedione, DHEA, cortisol, and fasting insulin—and it’s got me wondering: where is actually the best place to get all of this drawn?

Hi everyone! 🙂
I was wondering if anyone knows how to actually schedule an ophthalmology appointment at Rebro Hospital? I need to get checked out for Xerophthalmia, and I also need to figure out how to manage my corticosteroid use—specifically regarding eye pressure checks and looking at the posterior segment...
I swung by the clinic earlier today, but I ended up at the lens specialist instead, so I only got part of the testing done. They told me they don't handle the rest of those exams anymore, apparently due to some new organizational changes 🙂

Hi there

I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences regarding getting a medical clearance certificate for work. Does the document actually list every chronic condition someone has dealt with throughout their life, or does it just focus on current issues they're actively being treated for? Also—does it even go into those details at all, or does it simply state whether you're fit or unfit for duty?

Personally, I just book everything online. Rebro Hospital has an email listed right on their website.
I usually just send over an inquiry along with a scan of my referral—it helps if you include your medical history too, like which doctor you've been seeing and the specialist's referral for the specific tests...
Every time I've booked with ophthalmology this way, they've been really quick to get back to me.

This might be a bit off-topic, but I wasn't sure where else to ask.
When you're doing the fecal occult blood test, do all three samples go into the same little container, or does each one get its own?
Are those the tiny white vials?

Every time I've needed ophthalmology, that's how I've booked it, and they’re actually pretty quick to get back to you.

Thanks for the info, 🙂

Each gets its own, obviously. And yes, those are the white vials.

I'm curious about how work fitness certifications actually work. Does the certificate list every chronic condition a person has ever had, or just current ones they are being treated for? Also, do they even list specific illnesses, or is it just a simple "fit" or "unfit" for duty?

One needs to distinguish between two different things here. On one hand, you have the occupational health certification issued by an occupational medicine specialist. That document only provides the verdict: fit or unfit. There are no diagnoses listed there.

On the other hand, an occupational specialist might request medical records from a primary care physician. In that case, the records will include any medical history relevant to determining fitness for the job.

I have an ergometry test scheduled for tomorrow—the kind where you walk on a treadmill... I was wondering about the dress code for this. Should I just go barefoot, or is it better to wear sneakers? Thanks in advance!

Just some athletic pants and a pair of comfortable sneakers.

I've got an outpatient surgery coming up soon—scheduled for about a week. Since I don't have any supplemental health coverage right now, I was wondering if it actually matters which provider I go with? Also, do I really need both supplemental insurance and extra private coverage, or is one enough?

The supplemental coverage is quite substantial, but keep in mind you need to sign up at least a month in advance for it to kick in. As for the government plan, I'm not entirely sure how the private options compare...

Thanks for the info. In the end, I just went with the supplemental coverage from Medicare. I handled everything online—it should be active starting November 11th, which is about two weeks after I set it up online.

It’s just brilliant that they shortened the deadline. I mean, making people wait an entire month just to activate a service? That’s truly 19th-century thinking. 😁 Good luck at the hospital!

I bet they cut it down because here in the States, we used to have a 15-day activation period, and way too many people were choosing them strictly because of that quick turnaround.

I just submitted a request for a surgical consultation via the Dubrava Hospital online portal. It says I should receive an email confirmation once they've received my order, but nothing has hit my inbox yet. Does that usually arrive instantly, or is there typically a delay? How much longer should I wait before following up?

Usually, you get an order confirmation within 24 hours, and an automated reply saying they received everything hits your inbox immediately.
But I guess for the general surgery clinic at Dubrava, you don't even need an appointment.

Really? I had no idea; I assumed it was required. So, I just show up with my referral?
Yeah, I didn't even get an automated response, so I probably messed something up on the form.
