Ronald Cox96 said:I emailed over to the orthopedics department at Salat on Monday to set up an appointment, but I haven't heard back yet. Is it pretty normal to wait a few days for a reply, or should I just head down there in person?

They usually get back to you in a couple of days, BUT honestly, they’re often totally booked up. My sister actually gave me some great advice and suggested I try booking at the Mayo Clinic instead because the doctors at Salat handle all the surgeries too, so the crowds are just insane. She was super sweet about it and specifically mentioned that the doctors there are *also* top-notch 😂. I made sure to emphasize that I need a consultation specifically for my knees, though I’m not sure if they’ll refer you somewhere else depending on what kind of pain you're dealing with.
When I tried to book about a month and a half ago, they told me the earliest opening wasn't until next year! Meanwhile, at the Mayo Clinic, they were able to squeeze me in within two months.

If you need more info,
http://www.mayoclinic.org/contact
preliminary.appointments(at)mayoclinic.org
If you're doing the email thing, they asked for a scanned copy of the referral (I just took a photo of mine 😁). Pro tip: try to ask for a referral without a specific date on it.

---

Anyway, I also need recommendations for a primary care physician in the Brooklyn area.
Ideally somewhere near Upper West Side or nearby.
Just a heads-up, I’m a bit of a hypochondriac, so I really need someone who won't make me feel like I have to present a massive dossier of my medical history and pains just to get them to actually examine me and touch the spot that hurts :/
:bad experiences:

I'm going to go comb through this thread in detail and then I'll check back in with some questions. Usually, the really good doctors aren't taking new patients.😁🙂

Oh, while I'm at it, I could use some more info... any dermatologists in NYC?
Mine switched over to private practice; it's regarding some moles—specifically getting them removed.

Thanks in advance! 🙂

Can anyone point me toward a GP they actually trust and feel comfortable with? I’m looking in NYC—specifically near Brooklyn—but honestly, I’m open to suggestions anywhere else.
I just don't feel comfortable seeing my current doctor anymore—it’s like she treats me with this underlying skepticism, acting as if she doesn't believe a word I say about how I'm feeling, even though I barely ever go in.
To make matters worse, I ended up having to turn around and come back because the first time I went in, she basically sent me home to work while I was running a fever—and when I finally made it back, I was in even worse shape, which just turned the whole thing into a total panic.

I just found out I have a pituitary adenoma. I need to get some endocrine testing done, and I'm trying to figure out where to go—maybe Mayo Clinic or Johns Hopkins? If anyone has suggestions on which facility or even a specific doctor I should look into, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks.

Hey there, my favorites,
I’m really hoping to find someone who actually deals with Hashimoto’s but still has totally normal hormone levels and ended up needing medication—can anyone tell me at what level things usually trigger a prescription? My TPO Ab was sitting at 751 (that was back in 2007), and while my TSH was a little high then, it eventually settled back down into the normal range. Since then, I’ve just been doing annual checkups, basically waiting until everything goes sideways before I bother going back to see my doctor. But now, after a year of this, I’ve gone ahead and requested full antibody testing—both TPO and TgAb—because I seriously need a second opinion from a specialist. I am feeling absolutely miserable right now; I used to know this feeling, but it was always temporary, whereas this current bout is just long and utterly horrific, and I need another expert's take because the way things are going makes zero sense. I keep seeing news about certain doctors who specialize in how to treat Hashimoto’s, so I want to see what they have to say. Honestly, I could deal with the constant cold or even accept the weight gain (even though I never used to struggle with my body like this), but this exhaustion is literally killing me... I’m actually crying because I’m just so exhausted!

I'm looking for a recommendation for a private urologist, general surgeon, or dermatologist—maybe even a multi-specialist clinic
given how sensitive the issue is.

Elizabeth Price85 said:So, I’ve actually been going to Light Clinic for over ten years now. I don't see Dr. Gabrić, though—it's always Dr. Morena Gavrić. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about her and the whole clinic.

I'm also seeing Dr. Gavrić, and I have to say, I’m really happy with everything; she’s great at walking you through all the details so nothing feels confusing. I guess the only real downside with Light Clinic is that the wait times can be pretty brutal—like, you show up and end up just hanging out in the waiting room for an hour or two. But then again, I ran into that same issue with Dr. Bilić too. It seems like there's always some kind of waiting game going on... 🙂

I can't seem to find the right thread, so if this doesn't belong here, I’m asking the mods to please move this to the appropriate section. Basically, I want to know if anyone has actually gone through one of those food intolerance tests. Does the Siget Center offer blood work and hair follicle testing, or is this whole thing just a massive waste of money?

Looking for a solid dermatologist in Chicago to do a full-body mole check.

Edit: Just called Klapan Clinic, they do the exam $192. Never even heard of them though, anyone know if they're actually any good?

Anyone here have experience with a decent clinic?

Honestly, I’m looking for some solid recommendations for both a primary care physician and a dentist. My "must-have" list of virtues is pretty straightforward: I need someone who won't bury me in unnecessary paperwork or red tape, someone who doesn't act like they're the smartest person in the room, and—this is huge—someone who isn't going to be having a bad day and taking it out on me when I show up with a referral! As for the dentist, I'm looking for someone whose expertise goes way beyond just swapping out old silver fillings for white ones. Ideally, I'd love to find someone located around the Chicago Trnje or Tresnjevka areas. But hey, if you have someone great further out, I'm open to it!
My current "subscription" to my providers expires in a few weeks, so I am more than ready to make a switch! 😁
