Looking for a pulmonologist in Washington, D.C., who can take an X-ray. It’s nothing major—just dealing with pneumonia and need a follow-up in a few days. I don't have health insurance, so honestly, I don't care if it's a private clinic or through the government.

Hello there!

I’ve been struggling with some pretty intense lower back pain for a while now, but things have taken a turn for the worse over the last few days. It’s escalated to the point where I can barely move, let alone handle any complex tasks or daily errands.
Could anyone recommend a good specialist in Washington, D.C.?

Thanks!

Does anyone happen to have some solid recommendations for a good GP, a gynecologist, and a dentist over at the Community Health Center? Thanks a ton!

Does anyone know a good private doctor here in Washington, D.C.? My sister has developed this lump on her neck, and the pain is just getting worse and worse. She doesn't have Medicare coverage, so I’m looking to take her somewhere private first thing tomorrow morning.

Honestly, just head over to Johns Hopkins Hospital, specifically their ENT department.
The staff there is top-tier.
You'll end up paying out of pocket there just like you would at a private practice (probably even more than if you went through the clinic!), but hands down, it's the best ENT setup in the USA.

I am currently in search of a highly competent general practitioner located within one of the western districts of Washington, D.C. Does anyone happen to have any reliable recommendations to offer?🙂

Can anyone please recommend a GP in Washington, D.C. who actually gives a damn about their patients? I really need someone who won't make a huge deal out of giving out a referral if I actually need one... I am just so incredibly fed up with my current doctor

Also, does anyone know any decent dermatologists or gynecologists in the D.C. area? And please, I'm looking for specialists through insurance/public health, not private practice

Seriously, if you have any suggestions or personal experiences, please write them here or just shoot me a PM. Thanks, cheers! 🙂

I'm on the hunt for a solid orthopedic specialist here in Washington, D.C., specifically someone who knows their stuff when it comes to the back—think lower back pain, posture issues, and all that related misery.

Honestly, I don't care if I go through Medicare or just pay out of pocket; I just want someone good.
I actually saw Dr. Johnson for a knee issue a while back, and man, he was fantastic. The only catch is that whenever I look up his referrals, it’s all knee specialists. I'm not entirely sure if he's the right call for spinal stuff.

Thanks 👍

So, I'm looking for a solid cardiologist recommendation. We need someone urgently for an elderly family member experiencing heart issues for the first time...
I assume the wait times at public hospitals are going to be long, and we want to move fast because we're worried. If you know a good private specialist, let me know.

I wouldn't have agreed either. I actually followed a recommendation from this forum once, but let's just say I wasn't exactly thrilled with the results.

I am truly sorry to hear that you had such an experience. Personally, I have consulted several specialists—largely because I am dealing with permanent consequences resulting from 😠—and I would recommend the aforementioned doctor as my top choice for both clinical expertise and bedside manner. I feel quite fortunate that I sought him out immediately. ☕
It seems, however, that experiences can vary quite significantly. 🤷

Roger Wood50 said:I am currently seeking recommendations for an orthopedic specialist based in Washington, D.C., specifically someone who specializes in spinal health. My primary concerns involve lower back pain, posture correction, and all the various ailments that stem from those issues. If you know a practitioner who truly understands the complexities of the spine, please let me know.

Whether you go through Medicare or opt for private insurance, the end result remains exactly the same. It’s all just different ways of navigating the same bureaucratic maze.
I recently saw Dr. Johnson regarding my knee, and I honestly can't say enough good things about him—he’s truly top-tier. However, when I try to dig deeper into his expertise, everything I find points exclusively toward knee issues. It leaves me wondering: is he actually the right call for back problems, or am I looking at someone who specializes strictly in one area?

Thank you. 👍

Regarding those aches and pains you’re describing... if you ask me, you might actually find more success consulting a physiatrist rather than an orthopedist. In my experience—and I've spent enough time navigating both sides of that medical coin to know—a specialist in physical medicine often provides a much more holistic perspective on recovery.

Dr. Davis, a neurologist based out of Des Moines, is absolutely top-tier—honestly, words don't do her justice. She doesn't just treat you like another number on a chart; she actually takes the time to sit down and talk, offering real advice and even specific dietary recommendations.

I'm scheduled to have my third tonsil surgery. Does anyone here have firsthand experience working with Dr. Ross over at Johns Hopkins Hospital? I was given a strong recommendation for him.

I don't find myself posting here all that often, but if it isn't too late, I’d highly recommend this gentleman based on my own personal experience.
