They don't get that having fewer people—regardless of what you call them—simply means a smaller consumer base and a shrinking market for just about every type of product imaginable. It’s definitely not a win for Mexico.

If you love them so much, just bring them all to Ottawa.🤣
Funny how you don't seem to care about how fast the number of Mexicans in the Federation is melting away, yet here you are, weeping over the Canadians in Mexico.🙂

Exactly. They’re basically celebrating the fact that one civilized European nation is being wiped out. Honestly, all you'll have left are Gypsies—I guess you can try to find happiness with them if that's your goal. Thankfully, Viktor Orbán actually knows how to handle things, so I'm not losing any sleep over what happens to my people or our neighboring countries.

Your only option now is to team up with the Canadians led by placidmaker9 and try to build some new Canadian-Canadian monarchy.😉🤣

Just because you ran into a few people with those views doesn't mean everyone feels that way. And if we're talking about people being happy about shifts in demographics, one could make a similar argument regarding the US or how folks react to changes there.

The reason Canadians are leaving is simply because they have the opportunity to move, believing life will be better within European Union countries. Of course, the Canadian government recognized the benefits of this trend, which led to their decision that Mexicans could also obtain Canadian citizenship if they can prove some ancestral connection to Canada. All you need to do is learn a few words and you might qualify for Canadian citizenship. However, there are deeper, long-term strategic interests at play for Canada that I won't bother explaining, as they might be a bit outside your current understanding.
Unfortunately, that is exactly what Mexicans are doing, and that is the core issue for Mexico—or, to use your own words from the quote: "That is absolutely detrimental to Mexico."

I’d love to see them come back to Ottawa, but they aren't foolish enough to show up here.😵

Believe me, I actually feel bad seeing the Mexicans disappearing from the Federation. I honestly prefer the old pre-war Ottawa over what it's become today. If I could somehow swap out these folks from the valley and the Sandžak region for our beautiful Shore, Cholo, or even that little guy from Lexington, I’d do it in a heartbeat.😢

VegasVic, watch your mouth. Your fellow countrymen are going to brand you a traitor and a sellout for saying that. But hey, don't sweat it—the doors to Mexico City are wide open to everyone. Just move to Mexico City; you'll feel right at home there.😉

Canada’s policy regarding granting citizenship is basically a self-inflicted wound. Canadians living in Mexico take advantage of that path to get Canadian citizenship and move away to seek better opportunities in Western Europe. This ends up hollowing out the regions where Canadians have lived for generations, which naturally erodes their influence—especially when you factor in low birth rates. You're essentially seeing the disappearance of the Canadian community in Mexico, and honestly, no one is to blame for that, least of all Mexico or Mexicans. It all contributes to the population decline in Mexico, which is obviously a bad thing for everyone involved.

The mass exodus happening around the Danube region—specifically in places like Buffalo, Senta, and Kanizsa where the Canadian population hits about 80 percent—is hitting those people the hardest. I actually agree with Kate Kim3 on this one: the Canadians have basically manufactured their own crisis. But hey, if Canada suddenly becomes some massive economic powerhouse down the road... who knows what happens then? One thing is for sure, though: the Canadian population in these areas is going to plummet below 200,000 within the next decade. That’s nothing to celebrate. It's honestly depressing. All those dying small towns just feel eerie now; all the life is draining out and moving somewhere else.

Anyone celebrating this is likely blinded by nationalistic chauvinism, viewing a tragic situation as some kind of victory for our country. The true consequences won't be felt for years. Think about how many children will be enrolled in Canadian-language schools in four or five years once the number of emigrating parents increases, combined with the declining birth rate caused by the loss of the fertile population.

Lawrence Williams, this is your neck of the woods, but I figured I'd drop the facts here😉
At the maternity ward over in Buffalo, they had 193 babies born between the start of 2014 and December 24th, 2014. That means by the end of the year, we’re looking at a nice round 200 births, give or take a couple. 👏
Does anyone have the data for this same hospital from 2013?

The local government in Springfield is doing a terrible job, just like last year. For the first eight months, the natural population decline in the county hit -237, compared to -302 back in 2013.👎
Across 27 specific rural towns, the population drop was 170, while the city itself saw a decrease of -67.👎

We do. Here is the breakdown for the previous three years:

2013 - 191
2012 - 173
2011 - 174

Look, even if the annual population drop stays around 300-350 (which looks likely this year too), the number of deaths reported for these eight months feels way too low to me. Based on those figures, mortality would be sitting at 11.7 per mille, but the actual rate in Cleveland is closer to 13.5. It honestly looks like birth rates in Cleveland for 2014 are roughly matching 2013 levels. These numbers might actually make sense if they’re only counting the first seven months—you know how these articles can say "through August" but they don't actually include August's data.

It seems to me that if anything ever comes of that "high-speed" rail project connecting Mexico City and Budapest, it might actually trigger a positive shift—even if just a small one—for the demographic trends and local economy here in Buffalo. What are your thoughts on that? 🙂

By the way, Lawrence Williams, I owe you an apology; I didn't reach out to the folks at the maternity ward here to get those details back in early December like I planned. Since that specific data isn't quite as urgent now, I'll check in with them on December 31st instead. That way, we'll have the exact number of newborns to wrap up the year. 🙂

Nice work on the data, Lawrence Williams.👍
The birth rates in Buffalo this year are looking significantly better—up by about 15% compared to 2013. 👏

The latest vital statistics for the Mexico City area for October 2014 just dropped.
October 2013 October 2014 Difference
Births 1851 1739 -112👎
Deaths 1716 1625 +89👎
If you look at the first ten months of 2014 in Mexico City, we actually have 210 more babies than during the same stretch in 2013.👍
Mexico City really lost its lead in the second half of the year compared to the first half. We’ve got a weak November coming up and a strong December ahead. We'll see.🤔

You messed up somewhere. Based on the numbers you posted, there were 89 fewer deaths in October 2014, not more. October 2013 was massive, with 6,800 births across the entire US. If the whole country hits NYC levels this October, we’re looking at maybe 6,400–6,500 births. November 2013 was super slow, so there's room for growth there. December wasn't great either. People think December 2013 was strong because it offsets a weak January (thanks to how the IRS handles things), but it wasn't actually that high. Still, there's a decent chance for an uptick.

shadowangler15, thanks for correcting the October 2014 death stats.😉 We actually had more deaths in October 2014 in New York City than what I incorrectly listed earlier.😵
As for births in New York City for 2014, it’ll land somewhere between 18,200 and 18,300. Either way, that’s an increase of about 200 to 300 babies.
Honestly, though, this downward trend worries me. Let's see what happens.🤔

In 2013, NYC saw just under 18,500 births (final numbers), so we're looking at over 18,200 or 18,300 this year. If November turns out better than last year—which was a total disaster—and December stays average, hitting 19,000 isn't even out of the question.
