Exactly. He's caught in the cycle.

God, I just love people who can't stand Mr. Von Trier... 😁
I mean, apparently you don't even need breaks if the movie clocks in under three hours, right?
It reminds me of this one time—feels like a lifetime ago—back when I was hanging out in Seattle at some low-rent indie festival. You know the type: total dive bars, people smoking in the theater, drinking mid-movie, the whole bit. They were screening Solaris. About an hour in, this guy gets up, looks totally serious, and shouts out in his thick accent, "Hey, can I go hit the restroom?" Honestly, what was with that dude?! 😬
Then comes all the whispering, the shuffling, and before you know it, they end up doing a full thirty-minute intermission!

nimblemarlin17 said:Given the kind of movies being made and released in theaters these days, what kind of "movie feeling" are we even talking about?

It's about the experience of watching any movie, really. Personally, I love a good blockbuster with heavy special effects—provided there's actually a decent story behind them—and those are the ones I usually head to the theater for. Anything else, I'll just grab on Blu-ray...

You’re a total maniac! And you can't even hold it! 😁

Who even talks during a movie? I my girlfriend am practically a stranger to her while the film is playing! 😬

Her: "Wait, why did he just do that?"
Me: "Shh! Quiet down, please..."

Yeah—but only if we're talking about movies longer than three hours...

What kind of hellish breaks are these? 🙄

Look, I can probably resist the urge to run out and grab some greasy junk food, but what a few people just mentioned—it absolutely kills the vibe.
A film like this is an artistic medium—fine, I know, we all know what the typical Hollywood blockbusters look like these days, but still...—it’s meant to be experienced in one continuous flow. It's like looking at a painting. Imagine you walk into a museum in San Francisco and see only half of Guernica in one room, then you have to step out to grab a Coke at the concession stand before walking into the next room to see the other half. It's just ridiculous. 🙄

Those breaks are a joke.

I dig action movies that clock in at around 90 minutes. A real action flick doesn't insult your intelligence, and it definitely shouldn't drag on longer than that. Sci-fi is okay up to 120 minutes. These days, real action is basically extinct—where are the damn Die Hard sequels?—and good sci-fi is drying up too, mostly replaced by animated crap like Lord of the Rings. Given how things are going, a bathroom break is probably a good idea during any movie.

From what I’ve read, pauses are for kids and people who watch garbage movies. Pauses aren't for smart, decent people watching actual cinema. At this point, the government needs to make a choice: do they want to subsidize children and people who don't know anything about film, or do they want to support intelligent people? I think the answer is pretty damn obvious.

the ambassador said:the proposal has support👋

she’d probably suggest adding a smoking section (cigarettes☕)😬

🙂

Personally, I think they should just kick out anyone who talks too much or eats loudly during the show😠

Nobody’s actually thinking about health—it’s all just about the cinematic experience for them.

I mean, what about the chemicals? Or the basic need to actually move your body once in a while... poor circulation and stuff like that.
And don't even get me started on the eyes.

Though apparently, the administration is more into the opera than the cinema these days 😁

but haven't you noticed that AMC has the most comfortable seats... oh yeah, definitely just for your comfort...

Oh, for sure—the longer the opera, the better the daughter
once they start adding all those intermissions, they’re gonna be demanding super-fancy massage seats next... and then, who knows what else might follow

robybaggio said:I personally love action movies that clock in at around 90 minutes—real action doesn't insult the audience's intelligence or need three hours to get the job done—and sci-fi films up to about 120 minutes. Nowadays, it feels like decent action is a dying breed (when are we finally getting more stuff like *Snakes on a Plane*?), and quality sci-fi is becoming increasingly rare, mostly being replaced by animated junk like *Lord of the Rings*. In this kind of climate, an intermission is always a welcome addition to any movie.

Look, I don't mind a 300-minute epic if the story actually earns it, though I'm just as certain that almost anything could be tightened up into a solid 150 minutes. If they have that much material to work with, why not just split it into two 90-minute films? That would have worked perfectly for *Lord of the Rings*, where they could have easily produced six 120-minute installments instead.

Ultimately, it’s a matter of principle. I wish AMC would at least give us the option to choose whether a screening includes an intermission or not, similar to how they handle the choice between subtitled and dubbed animated features...

Until they catch up, I’ll be heading over to Broadway (especially since they finally started offering free parking in their garage, just like AMC did). As far as AMC is concerned, they won't be seeing me for quite some time.

intermission at the AMC🙂 ...
at least while we still have any actual options... before we end up begrudgingly paying for a massive Pepsi and popcorn from $33 😢

And then we'll pay them all back in a marble bathroom.😢

I wouldn't be surprised if they start charging a fee just to look at the menu.
If you want to watch this show, you’re gonna need to buy some popcorn.
Popcorn and a large Pepsi... if the movie drags on, you might even have to sit through another commercial. 😬

🤣

People who love trashy movies would have a blast. They’d show up, sit on the toilet, and just shovel popcorn into their faces for two hours 😁 I mean, the movie's garbage anyway..

Jeeez, nothing kills my vibe faster than some random guy in the middle of a movie making a "Rezzz" sound during a projection. My bladder is fine, man—is it really that hard to just hold it for a few more minutes?
Besides, the folks over at Cinema City probably do it on purpose anyway just to trick people into buying snacks during the intermission...
