Only someone like Mr. Rundek could invent a term like "Coca-Cola-ish" and actually have it make sense ))

It’s honestly flawless in every single version. From that blue album, the title track is just phenomenal, and that violin solo by Isabelle in "Dreaming of Happiness" is nothing short of breathtaking.

Enivej, I haven't had to go into the office for five days straight now, and I'm off tomorrow too. So... my big plans involve doing absolutely nothing at all. 😁

So, I go through all this effort to perfectly organize my life, trying to make everything as seamless and convenient as possible—including finding a job just a five-minute walk from my apartment.
And then what happens? An earthquake completely guts my school, and because it’s a historic landmark right in the middle of downtown, the restoration process is basically stuck in limbo; apparently, it costs a fortune to fix, so there's zero guarantee when they'll even start, and even if they do, who knows how long it'll take given the building was already falling apart before the disaster hit.
Now I'm looking at starting work this fall, and I'm going to have to commute all the way out to some tiny, desolate town in the middle of nowhere. 🤦

get lucky

Man, Jamie Davis9, I feel you. My job situation shifted because they had to clear out my department at the university, though everything is still up in the air. For the last year, I’ve been stuck playing one of those tiny cogs, basically just drafting renovation blueprints. We see it firsthand—everything in this country moves at a snail's pace. It would be a total disaster if the deadline to use those federal grants was that first date they set. And honestly, it's not even a question of whether it'll be a fiasco by next June... maybe just a slightly smaller one... 👎

my example: New Alhambra

I honestly know it all, and I just lost my mind yesterday when I found out we’re moving regardless, because there is absolutely zero logic behind it given how insane the rent is right now.
We are heavily reliant on federal grants, which we can't even apply for ourselves since we don't fall under the right sector, but since we own property in such a high-value area, we're working out deals with an institution that *can* apply—they have spaces connected to ours, so we're negotiating how to split potential funds or offset things through equity in our property, and so on...

It is just exhausting knowing everything about this mess while having absolutely no control over any of it, and man, I am counting down the seconds until my vacation!

Honestly, in this country, everything just seems to happen by pure accident, whether it's good or bad. There’s zero actual planning involved, and then everyone acts completely blindsided by things that should have been obvious from a mile away. I remember sitting in this one meeting where we were going over emergency protocols for an earthquake, and when I started asking some basic, logical questions, the whole room just stared at me in silence. It wasn't even that my questions were weird; they were perfectly reasonable. But hey, let's move on to more cheerful topics.
