Ulcerate

Such intense characters... maybe the production masks them a bit so you don't take them too seriously right away, but man, those lyrics are gold.
Even the Gang of Four wouldn't be ashamed of this cold track.

It is dishonest, nay, a sin to stand for any anthem that attempts to drown out the roar of oppression
(...)
Swapping parts and roles is not acting, but rather emancipation from expectation
Collectivism and autonomy are not mutually exclusive
Those who find discomfort in your goals of liberation will be issued no apology
And fuck Tom Brady!

🤣

The Total Football comes from a tactical theory of the same name which was popularized in 1974 by the Dutch national team in the World Cup. This tactical theory explains that all the outfield players (any position that isn’t the goalkeeper) can play all the other outfield positions without having to be substituted by a player from the bench. In football terms, and as an NME interview puts it, “no one part is bigger than the sum of the team.”

Parquet Courts sends out a call to everyone—artists, teachers, working-class folks, you name it—to push back against oppressive leaders and dangerous cults of personality, kind of like how a team-first sports strategy prioritizes the group over any single superstar.

Every time I finish listening to The Strokes, I just get this sudden urge to dive into

It's obvious!

Honestly, they're hands down the best band out there—no contest!
The Strokes remind me of so many different things—but I’m honestly not complaining! They actually give me occasional vibes of Costello too, maybe just because of the vocals. Looks like I'm definitely not the only one who feels that way.

Since yesterday, I've been on—well, you know how it goes! Just getting back into the swing of things—it’s been quite the ride lately. this one—Honestly, I just couldn't take my headphones off—I was seriously struggling not to start dancing right there in line at Target! It was one of those moments... yeah.
Just watching this music video right now—honestly, Alan is such a handsome guy!

There’s this time every year—maybe once a year—where I just end up listening to nothing but Nila for like a week straight.
This is probably his most beautiful recording from what is easily his best live album.
