It's Friday. I'm all about those unravelings and softening out.
Just one more week, then maybe I'll start being a little gentler with myself.
D.C. boogie 🎉
Fine, I'll do it... 🙂
I actually wanted to start a thread yesterday, but I just couldn't get to it.
('pigeons' is gorgeous, and so is 'another song'. Now we just wait; there's a new one coming out Monday.
If I've got this right, at this rate, the whole album should be out by September. Pretty smooth move from Bill and Drag Records.)

By the way, if you feel like it, let me know what you think about Wild Love, which I posted as a recent recommendation on Recommendations

Neither Lasevskaja nor Šumski have been around for a while now, which is honestly such a shame.
Precisely!😛 And Ivo: 🙄
“Between Jin and Jang, how many eons pass?”
Can you even build a nest mid-flight?
Just look, you madman, at how many holy Ithacas emerge from a single voyage. 🙂😁

Honestly, I’m way more into her than her more famous sister—there's just this raw sensuality dripping from every single beat. Even the music video can't hide it, though those "group" scenes totally give me alternative cover vibes for Electric Ladyland.

It’s wild—every single time I think I’ve finally moved on from them, they drop something brand new that absolutely knocks my socks off. Even after ten years of listening, I still get floored by them. I just love them way too much.

for the title.🧐 Just letting you know I'm lurking and reading along.
Small things, like finding some forgotten concert uploaded online, make me pretty happy. It's been a few months now, and I'm still feeling it.😁
Now that I've said it out loud, they'll probably just take it down tomorrow.🙄
It’s about the Pips and their God—specifically promoting that album "Phenomenal Day," which toured theaters in several cities. Supposedly, attendance was low everywhere except in New York City.
It marks the end of a major lineup that leaves us with a handful of unforgettable performances and one killer collection of songs. Despite all the chaos, everything somehow fell into place. Musically and lyrically, it’s easily their strongest album, at least regarding that original lineup.
That's how it usually works: when something disappears, something else beautiful grows from it—like trees and rivers—but that's a different story entirely.
Darkness, Rosita, Narco, God, Sao Paolo, Coach... it's hard to choose. Really hard. Every single one carries a specific memory, an emotion, or an event.
The Sao Paolo part—and I definitely need to get out of here—is one of my favorite Pips moments. Coach has this specific vibe; that song was on every compilation and hits every note. Your Avari tribe is waiting for you. Darkness... what can I say? One of their peaks. Trying to make sense of their longest track yet is quite the undertaking. The music video is fantastic. Even today, if someone walks into my office, I tell them: take off your hat and relax. Rosita is classic pop-rock, basically made for the radio. God lives up to the album title—a total classic. I love everything except—and don't cry in public 😁 vidati... you can already hear the ideas for the next record; it feels like a reliable older brother or sister, I don't know. Motorcycle Boy is that shadowy track that sticks in your head after a few listens—it's where time stands still for a moment. Narco... that intro is intense. Our friend Samuel (better known as Srđan) played the sitar on it. That's the number where the band truly tore themselves apart and paid the highest price. The result is probably the most beautiful song on the album. Because at the end of the day, you won't know if I'm kidding, but you'll be sure who 🙂
.
Time flies. I remember us singing "How is it, how is it!?" back in the early 2000s. Somewhere in a National Park, haha.
It was good to see them again, even if it was just through a recording. I've been listening to the concert often since it was re-uploaded. Sometimes it takes me back to those uncertain but beautiful teenage years at the turn of the millennium... Brown beer bottles and blue Walters for a couple of bucks.😁
God.
And that's a good thing... 🙂

I’m just lurking and listening here, just so you know 😏
Little things, like finding some forgotten concert uploaded online, genuinely make my day. Honestly, I’m so happy about this, even though it’s been a few months 😁
Now that I’ve admitted that, someone will probably take it down by tomorrow 🙄
It’s all about the Pips and their track "Bob," specifically the promotion for the album titled—what an incredible day—which was played in theaters across several cities. Supposedly, attendance was pretty thin everywhere except for Chicago.
It marks the end of a legendary lineup that leaves us with a handful of unforgettable performances and one stellar collection of songs where, despite all the chaos, everything somehow fell into place; it’s definitely their strongest musical and lyrical work, at least regarding the original lineup.
That’s how it usually works, isn't it? When something vanishes, something beautiful emerges from the wreckage—like trees growing from rivers—but that’s a whole different story.
"Day of Darkness," "Rosa," "Narco," "Bob," "Sao Paolo," "Coach"... It's honestly tough to choose, really hard, because every single one triggers a specific memory, an emotion, or an event.
The part from "Sao Paolo"—and I seriously need to get out of here—is one of my favorite Pips moments. "Coach" has such a unique vibe; that song was on every compilation, covering every possible feeling—it's like your tribe is waiting for you. And "Day of Darkness"... man, what can I say? One of their absolute peaks. Trying to make sense of how they pulled off something that long is a massive undertaking; the music video is fantastic, and even today, if someone comes to my office, I tell them: take off your hat and relax. "Rosa" is, well, playing it safe with that pop-rock sound, perfectly crafted for American radio. "Bob" lives up to the album title—a total classic. I'll stand by everything except for—and don't cry in public : D. As for "Vidal"... you can already hear the ideas for the next record bubbling up; it's like a reliable older brother or sister, I can't quite tell. Then there's "Motorcycle Boy," that shadowy track that sticks in your head after a few listens—it's like time itself stopped to catch its breath. And "Narco"... the beginning is just wow. The sitar was played by our friend Samuel (better known as Serdan) Sacher, which was the number where the band truly pushed themselves to the limit and made the ultimate sacrifice. The result is arguably the most beautiful song on the album. Because, after all—you won't know who I'm talking about, but you'll be certain when you hear it : )
Time flies so fast; I remember back in the early 2000s we were singing—how's that, how's that!? In some national park, haha.
It was great just being able to see them again; I listened to the concert frequently once it was re-uploaded. Sometimes it pulls me right back to those uncertain yet beautiful teenage years at the turn of the millennium... brown beer bottles and a blue Walter for eleven bucks 😁
Bob
And that's a good thing... 🙂
hey! 😍 🙂
You wrote that beautifully... brown beer bottles and a blue Walter for eleven bucks. 😁And that’s actually a decent outcome. 🙂
hop! 😁
