Just walk up and tell them, "Hey, could you please die so I don't miss out on everything life has to offer?"

I'm sure your grandmother would just slap you upside the head and say, "Oh, you sweet child, fine, I'll go ahead and die so you don't have to suffer for my sake."

Or maybe they should just show up when you're in your mid-30s to explain, "Please, just stay home. It doesn't matter if you're unemployed. Forget about the mortgage. Kids can survive on bread and water, and I'm sure our dear government will take care of you. Just ignore the massive economic depression waiting for us once this clears up. At least I got two more years of watching Turkish soap operas out of it."

If they were going to mess up this procession, they certainly did it with masterclass precision.
It isn't even about whether something specific happens because of this parade; it’s a matter of principle. Should the Church really be allowed to get away with everything?
Then again, perhaps that’s exactly what they’re aiming for.

The Right to life is a fundamental human right, and there is absolutely no justification for anyone demanding that someone else sacrifice their life.

My granddad is past the point of caring about his own mortality. He’s not even worried if he’ll make it another two months or two years at 85+; he's too busy stressing over what the hell is going to happen to us and how we're going to survive the next massive economic meltdown.

As for me, I’m just curled up in a corner of my room, sobbing quietly and whispering to myself, "Just stay home, please, just stay home..."

Look, there's a ton of stuff being tolerated right now that's way more dangerous than this one parade. Besides, it seems like you've got a massive chip on your shoulder specifically when it comes to the Catholic Church.

It’s just like the right to work or the freedom of movement.

Honestly, based on how you talk, I might actually believe you're telling the truth. 😁

And you just justify everything involving the Catholic Church, don't you?

Look, I’m a believer, but this is just straight-up stupidity.

We’re supposedly forced to attend these processions.

Bravo. Round of applause, I guess.

You can't even sit in a park without the Police chasing you off, yet a procession is perfectly fine.

The guy is calling people to church, while the Pope is out there holding Mass in front of zero people.

I suppose that’s what happens when you think you're a bigger Pope than the Pope himself.

By all means, let’s send those brave grandfathers, grandmothers, and parents—the ones who apparently aren't worried about their own safety—to staff the grocery stores, hospitals, and all those other essential services. And here is our brilliant solution.

As for this whole procession business, it’s an absolute disgrace; I truly wonder if any other group would be granted permission right now to gather hundreds of people for a demonstration that does absolutely nothing to keep the system running.

In the States and Bulgaria, things are arguably even more absurd regarding this issue, as nobody seems to care whether you get sick, die, or whatever else happens... A Bulgarian pop star even claimed it was impossible to catch anything from a priest 🙏 In Mexico, until very recently, everyone was sharing communion from the exact same vessel, though I suppose I don't know if they've finally done away with that 🙏 Good grief, what fools 🙏

And I’m sure everyone will just stay tucked away at home, waiting for divine intervention if they happen to catch something.

Sure, we tolerate much more dangerous things, but those things are necessary. This procession? It isn't.

I’ve got full faith in our hero Willie—since when does he care about a little flu?🤔

Mortality rates are actually lower than the flu!
Imagine how much worse this would be if there weren't global lockdowns in place right now...

Are we talking about that procession from last night? From what I can tell, they limited it to 17 people and everyone kept a decent distance from one another.

The real issue is that nobody seems to grasp what these gathering guidelines actually mean—not even the Police or the CDC. A friend sent me a photo from a park in Berlin, and honestly, it looks just as packed as Central Park on a Sunday afternoon.

The police showed up and checked to see if the groups on the blankets were from the same household; if they were, everything was fine. Everyone was spread out several feet apart across the parks on their blankets. No one was making a scene about it, so it’s pretty straightforward: if you're outside, just stick with your household and keep your distance from others. As simple as that.

Back home, it's like two trenches facing off where everyone's just attacking each other without any compromise. You've got people who don't get that hanging out with friends isn't okay, and then you've got the Police who don't seem to realize that socializing at a distance is perfectly fine.

The procession itself isn't the problem, provided everyone follows the rules. Just maintain distance and keep the group size small.

Honestly, what is wrong with you people? 🙏

It’s either one extreme or the other: you’re either some self-proclaimed genius skeptic who thinks they know everything (🙏), or you’re just someone blindly swallowing whatever the news anchors at ESPN tell you.

There really isn't any middle ground, is there? 🙏

By the way, when was the last time we saw people being hauled off to mass graves in places like Central Park because of the flu? Or are we just going to keep ignoring international headlines unless they happen to be coming out of Sweden?

Things are actually falling apart in Sweden now, so I guess we're pivoting our attention to Belarus instead.☕

Every year, the flu kills somewhere between 300,000 and 600,000 people in the States, mostly concentrated between October and March.
So, looking at those five months, we’ve already hit about 100,000 deaths from COVID-19, and mind you, we still don't know the outcome for about 60% of those cases. If this current trajectory holds, we could easily end up doubling the usual flu death toll... especially since the flu typically infects around 5 million people annually.

But hey, they’re actually getting stuff done. It’s not like they’re banning people from hanging out or anything... It's all about the economyyyyyyy, creating jobs, layoffs...

Not quite. That number usually refers to more severe cases; depending on the year, maybe 3 to 5 million people develop serious complications from the flu, leading to roughly half a million deaths. As for infections, it's estimated that about 9% of the global population gets it every year. That would be around 700 million people, and in some years, it might even exceed a billion.

Fair enough, thanks for the correction. That number did seem a bit low...
