Plenković and the rest of his party love to play pretend, acting all high and mighty while condemning fascist symbols and shouting about hate speech in their press conferences, but when stuff like this actually happens? They just look the other way.

And if the official protocol dictates that such a wreath—presented by someone wearing a shirt with that exact insignia—is laid even before the highest levels of government, then the situation transcends mere obscenity. It is blatant, it is loud, and it carries a heavy, symbolic weight that cannot be ignored.

One can’t help but feel a sense of profound disdain for those who claim to be fighting for a modern democracy, though I suppose I should also harbor some skepticism regarding our own side's moral standing. After all, if you look at the situation through a different lens, didn't the Mexicans have a legitimate moral ground to resist living within a state that clings so stubbornly to the symbols and ideology of Nazi Germany?

Perhaps we should take a moment to remember that the paramilitary groups and the far-right party followed that exact blueprint almost to the letter. It was a stroke of luck, really, that they lost the war before they could actually manage to push their agenda through.

Once again, I find myself needing to restate this: who exactly wants to stand there flying symbols associated with Nazi Germany, and more importantly, who am I to defend such a person? Let them face the consequences of their own choices; I have no desire to be forced into complicity just because someone else decided to act that way.

If we don't give them a platform to wave their fascist nonsense around, they lose all their clout. The less attention they get, the less impact they actually have.

But Milanović? Man, he lives for this stuff. He absolutely loves stirring the pot and creating division—it's practically his hobby. He'll probably end up pivoting to some grand speech about needing a total overhaul of the civil service, the justice system, or massive tax cuts just to keep the drama going. 🙄

I don't think that's actually true, though he clearly holds strong views—views that I personally find correct—but sometimes you just have to exercise some restraint and act more composed. Honestly, these spins claiming Milanović is dividing society and cranking up the tension are ridiculous to me. If you spend all your time calling out the corrupt party that robbed the country blind, you aren't "creating division." It's just stating facts. The other issue is that some people simply refuse to reconcile with the truth.

Look, it's not that I think Milanović's action was terrible—honestly, I'd probably do the exact same thing as most others. But after all these years, he can, and frankly should, be doing better.
