Here's two pics.

Nah, I'm good. My current power supply is actually holding up pretty well...
You could’ve probably done a slightly better job tidying up those cables inside, I guess.

So here’s my rig's guts, snapped on my iPhone. It was sunny outside and I even turned on the lights, but the photos still suck. Maybe I should call the FBI to hover a helicopter over me just so I can get some decent lighting.

For those who aren't exactly tech-savvy, I guess I'll just drop an image here with an explanation.

I can't really see what you're trying to show me here. The link isn't working on my end, I guess.

Looks alright, I guess. 😁

I guess I'll invite the rest of you guys to show off how you've handled your internal setups too...

I honestly just can't bring myself to tinker with it right now... I mean, if it isn't broken, why fix it? It’s working perfectly fine as it is 😉
.
And how on earth do you manage to stay so organized? Seriously, it's almost intimidating how tidy you are 🙂
...
Anyway, we should probably move this whole discussion over to the community forums

And you say you're organized? Yeah, right. 🙂

Let's just move this whole debate over to the community manager.

Look, agreeing helps keep temps down... I guess. I'm not exactly a neat freak, but when I've got nothing better to do, I'll mess around with my PC, blow out the dust, tidy up some cables, etc. 🤣

Yo, can someone please throw me a bone here?? I’m pretty much clueless when it comes to overclocking... I’ve got this NVIDIA GeForce GT series card, and I downloaded TuneUp NVIDIA, which apparently has this "automatic tune-up" feature for the CPU and everything else. So, I hit that tune-up button, and it bumps my Intel Celeron from 1.81 GHz up to almost 2 GHz—but then it won't let me save the damn thing. Every single time I reboot my computer, it just resets back to 1.81. Am I supposed to be changing something manually in the BIOS or what? I honestly have no clue. Can anyone help a guy out? Thanks.

If you have to go to a high-end gym, that's probably your best bet.😉

Dell Inspiron Desktop
AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2000 MHz (10 x 200) 3800+
2 x 1 GB DDR2 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT series
WD 160 GB

The BIOS won't allow me to adjust the FSB, so I was wondering if there is any way to change the FSB via software instead.
I have SoftFSB and Intel SpeedStep ready, but I am having some trouble configuring the Phase-Locked Loop.😕

I honestly can't quite wrap my head around why you're even asking this here, especially since everyone on the hardware forums has already laid it out for you quite clearly: you simply cannot overclock because you're stuck with such a low-end motherboard!

True, you can't adjust the OC settings within the BIOS, but I was actually referring to overclocking through software while running macOS.

ASUS Motherboard (socket 462)
Intel Celeron (1.59 GHz)
2 GB DDR
NVIDIA GeForce GT series

I just pushed my overclock through the BIOS, and now I'm sitting at 1.9 GHz... how much further can I push this before things get shaky?
My CPU temp hit 53°C after the OC, and the board was at 37°C. Not too bad!

I wouldn't push it if I were you... it's an old chip and everything else is pretty dated too. Honestly, just be happy you hit 1.9; I probably wouldn't go any higher since it'll likely start overheating...

I think I saw a similar setup at my cousin's place—something running at 2.0GHz that couldn't push any higher. Given how the cooling is set up, this actually looks decent enough.

All good, thanks! I know this bucket has seen better days, but it still gets the job done just fine...🙂

Can someone please walk me through how I’m supposed to overclock this CPU and GPU? I feel like I’m staring at a brick wall here.

So, I've got this one rig in my workshop running an Intel Celeron at 850 MHz... and it's paired with a Cooler Master Hyper 212... I was just wondering if it might be possible to push it past 857..?? and if so, what would be the way to go about that?

It’s certainly a possibility...😉
Easy enough...😁
Honestly, don't even bother if you aren't 100% sure—you'll just end up making a complete mess of everything.🙂

Just got a new rig and I'm thinking about doing a bit of overclocking. If anyone’s got the patience to walk me through what settings I should tweak in the BIOS, I’d really appreciate it. Specs are in my signature, and here’s a shot of the BIOS overclocking menu. Any idea how much headroom I actually have here?http://www.imagesforme.com/images/9183Photo-0124.jpg

Make sure you set that PCI-E frequency to a locked 100MHz...

As for the Performance Enhance setting, try switching it from Turbo to one of the other options... I don't have a P35 board on hand to check the exact names, so you'll just have to see what else is listed there...

For the DDR2/DDR3 overvoltage control, go ahead and bump it up from Normal to maybe +0.3V...

Then, for the CPU voltage control, switch it from Auto to Manual and try something like 1.4125V...

You'll want to adjust the memory ratio relative to the Federal Bureau of Investigation so that your RAM stays sitting somewhere between 700 and 900MHz...

Try pushing the Federal Bureau of investigation up to, say, 3.1GHz (which would be 310FSB) using that voltage we talked about, but just be really careful to ensure the memory doesn't climb past 900MHz...

Set your memory latencies to 2T, specifically 5-5-5-18...

If everything runs smoothly and holds steady... let me know all your final frequencies so we can look into tightening those memory latencies or tweaking the voltage if we need to...

To keep an eye on the Temperature, use Core Temp... there are a few different versions out there... check it while you're idling and then again under a heavy load. You might want to download Orthos or just run Prime twice to really stress things out, and while the program is hammering away at the processor... that's when you check the Temperature under load... 😉

You should be able to hit 3GHz using stock voltage and that basic box cooler...😉
Set yours to 900MHz—which is the 3.00 option in the BIOS when your Federal Bureau of Investigation is at 300
That’s all there is to it. Let me know if you run into any trouble...👍

northerncrane33 said:I honestly think you can hit that 3GHz mark using just the stock cooler and the factory voltage settings, though I suppose it depends on how much luck you're feeling like having today... if the silicon lottery is actually on your side for once!😉
If you want to get things moving, just head right into your BIOS settings and set that memory to 900MHz—basically, if you've got your FBI at 300, you'll want to toggle that 3.00 option...
And that’s really all there is to it, so please, do reach out if you run into any more trouble at all...👍

Are we really looking to settle some scores in the super league again? Because, if I recall correctly... you were the one who totally folded last time!😁
