I honestly don't get why everyone is making such a big deal about which stage is which—I mean, you show up to a concert to see the band you actually love, right? Regardless of where they're set up on the festival grounds. I just don't see how the logistics of the stage placement has any impact on their performance or our ability to have a great time. 😉

My point is that people are discussing the stages in terms of scheduling logic. If Grinderman is headlining a side stage, the organizers still need at least one more big name to headline the main stage.

That’s why it "matters"—it isn't about who is watching whom...

There’s easily 500 artists worth checking out if you actually look around:

IN FLAMES, ROB ZOMBIE, Motörhead, SLIPKNOT, FOO FIGHTERS, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, MANIC STREET PREACHERS, DISTURBED, LINKIN PARK AND STUFF...

Local acts here just play the same old crap every single time.

So, I just caught wind that TV on the Radio announced they’re dropping a new album this coming spring and hitting the road for a tour. 🙂

A friend of mine swung by the Best Buy over in downtown Chicago today—I think that’s the one she went to—and the guy behind the counter told her they haven't even received the tickets yet... so, honestly, who knows what's actually going on with this...🤷

And looks like the Foo Fighters are releasing their new album on April 11th... though it sounds like they're mostly planning to spend the tour circuit playing the big summer festivals... mmmm... 😍 🙂

While dates haven't been set yet, Vip.hr reports they might headline one of the major summer festivals here in the States. Organizers for the biggest music festival in America told us they "can't comment on ongoing artist negotiations," while other festivals have stayed silent.

Just wondering what the deal is with this?
Is someone actually trying to confirm something or what?

"Organizers for the biggest music festival in America"

That would be Coachella, right?
Seems a little sketchy that Vip.hr put out this article.
And I'm curious where they even got that info.

Man, I hope they just confirm it before someone else snaps them up. This is moving way too slow for me.

As far as I know, neither AF nor Grinderman have ever even played in the States. ☕

Oh man, Fleet Foxes would have been touring the States right about then too... that would have been absolutely incredible 😍
But I doubt that’ll actually happen 😢

Maybe we could at least catch Crystal Castles 🎉

Yeah, right—as if that'll ever actually happen. 😢

Maybe Crystal Castles, at least. 🎉

It's either Xiu Xiu or Black Moth Super Rainbow... If only BMSR would make an appearance.

Does anyone know if they actually check student IDs at the gate like they did last year? Also—can a friend who isn't a student anymore sneak in using my discounted student ticket?

The ticket you get with a student discount is identical to a standard one.
Once you buy it, anyone can swap it for a wristband at the entrance.

They’re dragging their feet with the ticket sales again this year... I just hope they aren't cooking up some new student ID requirement where you have to show your actual government ID at the gate.
Or maybe they’re just waiting to announce another headliner—giving people an actual reason to open their wallets—since a few folks seem a bit restless about the tickets being live without a full lineup yet.

I'm just lucky I haven't finished my deep dive yet, so I might be able to slip away with $97 😁

And then we get back to that whole idea that you shouldn't always do things right when they're due 😂

I'm just waiting to see how this all plays out, but honestly, The White Stripes 👍

Either they're just waiting to announce another headliner to give people a real reason to pull the trigger on a purchase—since apparently some folks are getting restless seeing tickets on sale without a full lineup confirmed yet.

🤷

Honestly, they’re being totally unprofessional here. It’s a miracle this festival turns out alright every single year. I really hope they don't treat the artists with the same lack of care they're showing the fans.
You can grab tickets through Eventbrite, but there hasn't been a single word about sales at Madison Square Garden yet. If that isn't a lack of professionalism, I don't know what is. My guess? They probably messed up the printing process or some other nonsense like that.👎

If we're buying through Eventbrite, then I assume I can just print them out at their physical merch booths... but seriously, isn't it incredibly unprofessional that the tickets aren't even live yet? It’s so frustrating because we were all complaining just a second ago about why they even put them up for sale when they've only announced one (or zero!) headliners. 🙄

quietsailor97 said:but hey, now you're just trying to get a rise out of me!

I'm just trolling everyone who doesn't hang out here much 😁 and honestly, sometimes even them too 😬
But truth be told, I mostly agree with you—it would be way better if they brought in bands that haven't played here before, or at least haven't been here recently. Though, I have to admit, this sudden attempt at being "objective" feels a little weird coming from you, because I'd always just shout, "WHY DIDN'T THEY BRING MORRISSEY?!" Who cares about being objective when you want legends? 😬

and hopefully the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival becomes a massive staple one day.

😠
What are you guys even after?! 🙂
The festival is getting bigger and more organized every single year—you can really feel the difference.

this forum is actually turning into a fun place again 😁

I'd love to see Fleet Foxes, but I highly doubt it... they aren't even close right now. I'd definitely vote for TVOTR, though! 😁

edit: PJ Harvey is on tour and tons of her shows are already sold out... I really hope she extends the tour!

Look, buddy, go ahead and print your own ticket for $130, but as far as I know, tickets have usually been sold at Madison Square Garden, and they were printed there, not home-printed. I've always just gone to Madison Square Garden to grab mine as soon as sales started, like I did last year for the big show. And yeah, it is unprofessional—or at least looks amateurish, regardless of how you put it.
