I feel like a broken record here... they won using a car that was simply in a league of its own 😁
I really hope we can all see eye to eye on that one...🙂

Hopefully we can all agree on that...🙂

1. McLaren
2. Ferrari
3. Red Bull

Alright, here we go. It’s been about three seasons since Vettel hit the Formula 1 scene, so there's plenty of data to actually judge him by.
1) He’s killer in a bad car—he drags whatever junk he's driving to its absolute limit, no doubt about that. But put him in a dominant machine? Total flop. Honestly, he reminds me of Giancarlo Fisichella. Just look at how Fisichella fought in those inferior cars at Indy 1997, Indy 2009, Indy 1999, and Indy 2003—pure magic. Yet, when he had the top-tier car at those same tracks, like Indy 2005 or Indy 2006, he wasn't nearly as brilliant. So it's not the track, and it's definitely not the car—I mean, obviously, the 2006 Renault was lightyears better than the 1999 Benetton, both relatively and absolutely.
2) He started getting outplayed by some shady Australian guy who nobody really knows. On paper, he was born in '74, but word is he was actually born in '69 and the docs were faked just so he could stay in the junior leagues longer. The FIA knows the deal but decided to look the other way. Whatever, even FIFA looked the other way with Chirota. They know what's up, and hey, it's not hurting anyone else. Except maybe Vettel—but even then, if a 41-year-old loses to a guy like that, it just tastes even more bitter.
3) In a head-to-head on track, he loses to more aggressive drivers in worse cars (like when Lewis Hamilton blew past him in Los Angeles)—which is basically the trademark of drivers like Jarno Trulli, Timo Glock, and Heikki Kovalainen. Hmmm.
4) When he's supposed to overtake someone slower ahead of him, he gets soft and just gives up (think Bahrain 2009 or Los Angeles 2009).
Bottom line: Vettel is somewhere in the middle of Nico Rosberg (who was pretty much on par with Mark Webber back when they were at Williams) and Fisichella. So, a solid driver. A future champ? Hard pass.
Anyway, discuss.
James Harris34 said:Once Michael Schumacher left, I wasn't really rooting for anyone—and honestly, before Vettel started grabbing titles, I always felt like everyone else actually earned theirs. With Vettel, I just never got that feeling; I always suspected he was only winning because he had a dominant car and the team clearly favored him over his teammate. I knew the truth would come out eventually, and here we are: he’s just an average driver who happened to be in the right place at the right time (and almost blew two titles thanks to his own mistakes). He can only win when he's sitting in the fastest car on the grid and his teammates are basically retirees. For all intents and purposes, his career is done—he should probably just call it quits after this season before things get even worse. His titles don't mean squat to me; I still think drivers who never even had a shot at a title are better than him. But hey, that's how it played out. Adrian Newey... this Vettel guy has 4 titles, so there's nothing you can do about it.

It would be a whole lot easier for all of us to stomach Vettel if he only had those 2011 and 2013 titles that felt inevitable.
But it wasn't just those two...
We have to deal with all four, because unfortunately, there wasn't anyone competent enough to stop him back in 2010 and 2012.
That loudmouth who kept repeating
"Petrov-Rosberg, Petrov-Rosberg" all winter long after 2010 did more damage to Sebastian Vettel's reputation than anything else.
James Harris34 said:I think you're misinterpreting me—it’s not that there wasn't anyone competent enough to take his titles away, it's that he wasn't quite competent enough to snatch a few more wins with that car before the season ended, which is what should've happened.

It’s wild how someone could spend an entire decade living years ahead of everyone else, only to never truly be understood.
RIP (pfft, if you can even call it that)
silvercobra68 said:So, the verdict on Vettel is that he lands somewhere between Nico Rosberg—who was basically neck-and-neck with Mark Webber back when they were pulling duty for Williams and Fisichella—and whatever comes next. He’s a solid driver. Nothing more, nothing less. Future champ? Hard pass.
