Has anyone tried Calixta? I'd love to hear about your experiences, benefits, or any side effects you noticed. If you have some insight, please shoot me a DM. Thanks so much!
p.s. I'm currently on a regimen of Calixta, Wellbutrin, and Klonopin, but since Calixta is the new addition, I’m curious to see how it stacks up.

I was honestly a zombie from it. I couldn't even wake myself up if I tried. Easily the worst trip of my entire life as an antidepressant user. I couldn't speak, think, look at anything, or even walk... just a complete, total blackout and then crashing straight back into bed. That was my experience.

Oh, just saw the PM now, my bad.

Are you seeing someone privately or heading into a hospital setting? And what kind of meds are they putting you on?

So, I headed into the hospital, and they slapped a "personality disorder" label on me as a working diagnosis. Apparently, the psychological testing confirmed I have one—they just didn't specify which kind. Oh, isn't that just stellar? Great job on the testing, guys. Truly top-tier stuff. 🙄So now the doctor’s gonna have to figure out which one I actually need...
I was on Lexapro for a bit, but I finally called it quits because it just wasn't sitting right with me. Now, I’m just sticking to Xanax when I need to take the edge off. 🙂

Gerald Torres2 said:Don't sweat it... about a week ago, I was also diagnosed with borderline personality disorder... it's not exactly a charming diagnosis, I'll give you that...
And she prescribed Seroquel as a mood stabilizer, but my moods don't actually swing the way they typically do for people with BPD... so I told her I wasn't taking it. There's nothing anyone can do to force me, and she actually admitted she couldn't make me take something I didn't want to, but suggested if I wanted to try, I should. Well, I tried, and it was terrible... I won't touch it again. Taking an antipsychotic felt like getting hit in the head with a shovel. But hey, you have to deal with those numbers and keep working on yourself regardless of whatever those famous F-s say... besides, Seroquel is actually a great substitute for anxiolytics; it knocks you out perfectly, and plenty of people on this forum are really happy with it... I initially turned it down because it made me feel stupid, but now that I'm going through a bit of a crisis due to a breakup, I started taking it again and I'm sleeping like a baby. I'm hitting the sack around 10 PM, and I don't even need anxiolytics anymore... imagine that!

That’s exactly what I’m worried about too. The thought of them pushing some pills on me that I don't even need... man. Even if I end up just tossing them in the back of a drawer and never actually taking them, they're still gonna have it written right there in my medical records that they were prescribed. That stays on my file forever. 🙂🙂🙂

Honestly guys, why is everyone freaking out about what’s written on the medical record? It’s not like you’re going to be handing it over for inspection to some future husband, your mom, your kids, or anyone else...

I honestly don't care, I just don't want people spreading fake news about me on there. Besides, if I ever end up applying for a job where I actually have to hand over medical records, I’d much rather show up with the real deal instead of some bogus F-s.

As far as I can tell, nobody is actually asking for medical records. Like, who even does that anymore? Honestly, I’ve worked a hundred different jobs and not once has anyone ever breathed a word about my history with thrombosis, my knee surgeries, or my F-s...

Working at a school. Even for a janitor position here, they run full background checks because you're working around kids and can't have any sketchy diagnoses on your record.

I mean, come on, that’s straight-up illegal! All you really need to be working with people is a basic health clearance to prove you aren't some walking biohazard carrying around infectious diseases...

Jay-Z is spot on here—no employer out there has the right to demand your full medical history. All they can legally ask for is a doctor's note confirming you're fit to work; they don't get a backstage pass to your actual diagnosis or private health details.

It honestly feels like those of us dealing with mental health struggles are the only ones getting the short end of the stick, doesn't it? 🙂

Hey DireDown, let me guess—was your entire "diagnosis" process just five quick ten-minute check-ins where they barely looked up from their clipboards? 😁

So, you don't need the anxiolytics, but you apparently need the antipsychotics instead? At that point, one has to wonder which is actually more detrimental to your health, because it seems clear that you're always going to need *something* to keep you level.

I honestly don't even know how to respond to that. My entire existence lately has been centered on the hope that my SSRIs will finally do their job so I can stop leaning on anxiolytics altogether. Let's be real: those pills aren't a sustainable long-term fix; they're just a temporary patch on a sinking ship. In the evenings, I take 30 mg of Calixte alongside my Misar, and if nothing else works, I usually manage to get some decent sleep. That feels like a monumental victory to me, considering I used to spend half my life battling chronic insomnia.

So, what’s your take on that Calixte? I personally stick to 7.5 mg right before bed, strictly to combat insomnia, because when it comes to tackling anxiety, it doesn't do a damn thing for me.

Only had twenty minutes with her, and honestly? The doctor completely missed the mark on half the stuff. She really should've focused on the big picture instead of getting everything twisted. 😬

I think everyone here already gets the point—you aren't touching an antipsychotic, even if your life depended on it. You don't need to make it your whole personality every single time someone mentions meds in a thread. 😉

I don't really know what to say—I just keep hoping my antidepressants will eventually kick in so I won't need any anxiety meds. They probably aren't meant to be a long-term fix, I guess. At night, I take 30 mg of my supplement with dinner, and if nothing else, I usually sleep pretty well—which is actually a huge deal for me since I used to struggle with insomnia all the time.

Thanks! 🙂

For me, it works wonders for sleep if the Ambien isn't doing the job, but I can't tell you much regarding anything else beyond a 15 mg dose; I personally take half of that, otherwise, the weight gain becomes quite noticeable.

If you can swing the cost of a private specialist, honestly, just go for it. It’s much better than being stuck in some endless loop of medical bureaucracy over things you can't even afford to fix. 😁

Personally, I’ve mostly had ten-minute appointments where they just hand me a handful of pills and call it a day.

I tried seeing specialists three times a week, paying an hour and twenty minutes of my life every single time, and they ended up cutting off all my treatments. Don't even get me started on the lack of actual progress. :mig

Man, I tried seeing a private specialist once and he wasn't even that much better.🙄
I’m actually thinking about heading over to that KBT center. I don't really need the meds (except for my Xanax), and honestly, every time I've been to KBT, things have gone great.👍

Look, I've always just gone through my insurance referral, and honestly, the doctors have been top-tier every single time.

I went to a private specialist thinking I’d get more thorough care, more effort—nothing. She actually had the nerve to tell me during my last visit that there are 500 psychiatrists in the whole country, and apparently, I’m the only one who doesn't like her style after her 25-year career. Like I’m just being difficult. So much for "private" service. If I have to go back, I'm sticking to the public clinics using my insurance; at least it won't cost me extra.

Matthew White4 said:So, I tried to head out for a weekend getaway without my meds, and let me tell you, nobody in town would even look at me twice. I showed up with all my official paperwork, everything clearly stating that I’m on a permanent prescription and absolutely cannot be without them!
They actually looked me in the eye and told me—literally—that they could help if it were for blood pressure or something with my blood sugar, but this? This was a hard no.

I mean, what am I supposed to do? Just push my depression aside until Monday morning and hope for the best??

"Sorry, we can't help you. You aren't an EMERGENCY!"

Wanted to jump in on this post, but it slipped my mind. 🤦

Timeline: This time last year.
Location: Chicago.

Scenario 1) - They refused to let me refill my prescriptions (my main doctor suddenly went on vacation, and the covering physician wouldn't authorize the refill over the phone, nor would she do it when my mom went to see her—I was away at college in a different city at the time). Even though I had my full history and had been on the exact same dose for months, I only had enough pills left for that one day.🙂

Scenario 2) - My regular doctor prescribed 4mg three times a day. The pharmacy didn't have the 4mg tablets in stock, so I asked if they could just give me two boxes of the 2mg ones instead (since I could just take 2+2 to make 4). They said no. They only gave me one box of the 2mg stuff, so I ended up taking a reduced dose for a whole month because I couldn't get a new supply—apparently, my doctor couldn't see that I hadn't received the correct strength (because, hey, it's my fault for agreeing to the weaker ones, right? If I hadn't taken them, I wouldn't have been stuck). I found out much later that I could have just said "no thanks" and gone to a different pharmacy. But the lady behind the counter talked me into it, saying I either take the weak ones or wait for an order that wouldn't arrive until Monday or Tuesday (it was Friday afternoon), claiming since they already printed the paperwork showing my meds, there was nothing they could do.🙂
