It feels way too early to quit the antidepressants cold turkey, but on the flip side, I'm basically just sitting here absorbing this constant, low-level mental fog. I really just came on here to see if anyone else has dealt with this kind of stuff and how you guys managed to navigate it. I did reach out to my doctor for some guidance, so now I'm just playing the waiting game to see how this new prescription works out.

It typically takes about two months for things to settle back down to baseline; that was certainly my experience with both Paxil and Ellie, though with Ellie, the transition felt slightly less intense. Generally speaking, Effexor tends to be the most effective at mitigating those specific issues.
Take it from someone who has been there—it will pass. Unfortunately, there isn't a magic pill to make the adjustment period easier, but if you need anything at all, please feel free to reach out via private message.

So, they actually just switched my prescription over to Effexor. Hearing that there's a chance things might get back to a semi-normal state after a couple of months sounds pretty encouraging. 🙂

Starting on an anti-epileptic medication can actually be quite beneficial when it comes to sexual performance—it can really help there—but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to do much for one's libido. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, isn't it?
One really ought to discuss these specific nuances with their physician.

Well, we shall see how things unfold for you. Personally, I only stayed on FedEx for about two or three weeks because the side effects were too much to handle. You should reach out to others who have used FedEx; even though everyone's experience is unique, most people will tell you that you won't see significant changes within just a month. However, please make sure to mention this to your doctor. There are certain antidepressants that don't cause these specific issues, though of course, it all depends on your specific diagnosis.

Checking back in again...
Things haven't changed, but they feel pretty awful...
Anyone else dealt with the struggle of tapering off meds?

Roughly 800 times, if I had to guess. Honestly, I just keep pushing through.

Every time I’ve tapered off, it was smooth sailing—except for when I tried to get off Xanax. That was straight-up hell.

If that’s actually true, they should probably be in the hospital!

What am I supposed to do about being in the hospital? My neurologist ran an EEG and told me there’s nothing physically wrong; she basically said it’s all psychological and just a matter of whether I can mentally tough it out. She insisted it will pass. It’s not just me, either—you see people on YouTube all the time saying they deal with this exact same thing hundreds of times a day. Most people just say they had to take medical leave for about two weeks. My doctor even called a colleague who confirmed that he gets a constant stream of patients complaining about this "brain zap" phenomenon. Since it isn't officially documented in medical literature, she relies on her own experience, knowing that recovering from this kind of mental strain is an incredibly slow process. The neurologist assured me I won't have an epileptic seizure or anything else; she just said I need to hold steady mentally. I actually joked with her, begging her not to hospitalize me because I was honestly feeling completely overwhelmed by her orders. She responded by saying she might just send me straight to the ward. So, there you have it. It’s a miserable situation. I haven't taken any sick leave or time off yet. I'll just endure it. It'll pass in a month or three. I just wanted to vent to you all a little bit; it’s not pleasant, and if anyone else has gone through this, we really should talk about it more. We can help each other out. ;-)

Must be nice if that's your experience. Me and shadowfox75 are going through absolute hell every single day, but we'll get through it. Pretty sure we aren't the only ones either...

if that's how it is? 🤣
Nah, it's not even about that. I honestly don't have anything better to do than troll people who actually follow orders 🎉.

And obviously, I'm not lying. What would I even gain from that?

I'm just saying some days are better than others, but those orders you're talking about are just trash

I'm heading to the dentist now, and honestly, I think the only way I'll actually wake up is once they hit that nerve with that crazy drill.

Personally, I've never had any issues with the supervisors when I was clocking out from any of the sites.

In that regard, I truly envy you. Quite a bit, actually.
