not every psychotic episode means you're dealing with schizophrenia

They claim this study was conducted on a group of twenty-two people, so they might as well go ahead and throw me in there as number twenty-three.

It’s not exactly a joke, but I'm looking at Solan🙏

and a little bit of Xanax

velvetsailor26, severe depression can sometimes involve psychotic elements,
meaning you might experience psychotic episodes,
but nothing about this is permanent or impossible to treat....

👍

It’s pretty clear I’m staring down a heavy depressive episode; my brain feels like it's already gone numb from the sheer weight of it all.

How are things holding up on your end?

Honestly, I’m also counting down the hours until my appointment with the psychiatrist tomorrow.

I'm trying to keep myself busy with something,
just so I don't sit here obsessing over when my Zoloft is actually going to kick in.

How are things going with you?
🙂

Come on, just try to focus on something beautiful over there—I know, easier said than done, believe me—but you can do this, and honestly, you have to do it for your own sake, lady!

As for me, I'm doing alright. Sure, I've spent the entire night hanging out on this forum, but fine, I'll actually get some sleep tonight.

If you’re going to spend all your time hanging out on this forum, you might as well head over to some
happier threads,
you know, like love, sex, fashion, and stuff like that.

dustyangler2 said:A little bit of alcohol, like a glass of wine or maybe a beer, shouldn't really mess with you too much. Just don't do it right after taking your meds, though. Maybe wait until somewhere between 👍

It’s a whole different story if someone goes overboard with five beers and a bottle of wine 😁

Anyway, if anyone can help me out, feel free to shoot me a DM...

I'm on Effexor XR 2 x75mg and Xanax SR 2 x1mg. I've been on Xanax for about 3g, and Effexor XR 3 mg. Basically, at first, I couldn't sleep at all—like, I didn't feel anything even after 5 weeks. Then things started looking up a bit. But then I just crashed hard for maybe 2 weeks, and now, for the last few days, I've been sleeping almost all day. Like, I seriously can't stay awake 🤷

I'm starting to think this might be more than just depression! And man, the dreams 😲

I’ve been taking Effexor XR 75 mg in the morning, along with Xanax 0.25 and Xanax 0.25 plus a quarter of a Rivotril in the evening before bed, for three weeks now. I don't feel drowsy during the day; I'm functioning quite well, and most importantly, I sleep through the night and find it easy to wake up in the morning...
I have a follow-up appointment later this week, so I will see what my doctor thinks, but I felt an improvement after just a few days. For about a year, I was dealing with galactorrhea, which my OBGYN attributed to elevated prolactin levels, even though my lab results came back normal. Once I started this specific medication regimen, the galactorrhea disappeared within three or four days; it seems it was all stress-related and rooted in my nervous system...

I honestly can't believe it, but after just four days on 25mg of Xanax twice a day—once in the morning and once at night—I'm already feeling so much better. That sense of derealization is finally starting to lift, and I actually feel capable of pulling my thoughts together and thinking logically again. The constant anxiety has completely vanished, and I haven't dealt with any side effects yet; I can finally get my life organized. I have a follow-up appointment in a month, and I’m really hoping this is the turning point. Thank God.

I don't feel like doing it either, but it helps pull you out of the hole bit by bit.
Doing things this way just makes us dig ourselves in deeper.

Xanax and Effexor were essentially my lifesavers too, and they worked incredibly fast... I felt a little bit buzzed on the first day, almost like I was tipsy, but everything has been smooth sailing since then. No jitters, no internal restlessness... nothing at all. It’s like the weight just lifted. If I had been smart—which, let’s face it, I wasn't—I would have reached out to my doctor a year ago. Instead, I foolishly thought I could just white-knuckle my way through it on my own, but I was really just sinking deeper and deeper... I suppose everything turned out alright in the end, though.

Look, I’m not even going to stress about it—I’ve got cyclothymia, or whatever they call it these days to make it sound more official... I just have my cycles.😍

Are you taking nothing else besides the Xanax?

Are you being serious?
I've been staring blankly at my screen for several minutes now, struggling to find the right words to say.🤣
Wait, did a psychiatrist actually diagnose you with that, or is it just your own conclusion?

I’m definitely ditching this Alventa ☕ After 3 months, I just don't feel any different compared to when I was on Lexapro or Faversim... Not sure why my psychiatrist is so obsessed with keeping me on Alventa 🤷

Well, I guess everyone reacts differently to the same meds...

What dose were you on?

Thanks

It hit me like a freight train. Out of nowhere. I was on 20 mg a day for a month or two, and then—boom. Total disaster. 🤷

Listen, if you actually have bipolar disorder, then your medication is completely to blame.😢😲

I don't even know where to start with this one. It’s absolutely infuriating how much nonsense we have to wade through just to get a straight answer. People act like common sense is some kind of rare luxury, but clearly, I’m asking too much. It’s like trying to drive through downtown Chicago during rush hour—you think you’ve got a clear path, and then suddenly, everything just grinds to a halt because someone couldn't follow basic rules. Unbelievable. ambermason16 says:
And yeah... I've got a question.😁

Why is mixing alcohol with antibiotics such a disaster? It’s common sense, really. You take a prescription to fight off an infection, and then you go out and pour liquid fire on your liver and stomach lining. It’s like trying to put out a house fire while simultaneously dumping gasoline on the living room. The math just doesn't add up. Alcohol can mess with how your body processes the medication, either making it totally useless or cranking up the side effects until you’re a shaking mess. You’re basically sabotaging your own recovery. If you want to actually get better instead of just spinning your wheels, leave the drinks alone until the meds are finished. It isn't rocket science; it's just basic survival.
I’m not even joking when I ask this... I genuinely want to know: am I out of line for wanting to go out and grab drinks with my girlfriends on the weekend?
Honestly, I’ve reached a point where I can’t tell if I’m actually losing my mind or if I’ve just finally stopped pretending to be sane. It feels like I'm more unhinged now than I ever was before.😍

Thanks!

Sorry I’m late to the party, but let’s be real: there is no bigger depressant on this planet than alcohol. After I went through that massive blowout, they put me on Disulfiram along with a whole pile of other meds—honestly, I might as well start collecting mason jars just to organize this ridiculous cocktail of prescriptions. So, take my advice: stay far away from the booze, honey. If you keep going like this, you won't even have people showing up to your funeral.

There’s something pretty wild about how Esperal works. For the first couple of days, when my body was still trying to flush out all the booze, I couldn't even stand the thought of touching the stuff. It felt impossible. But the second I finally forced down that first pill? Man, what a ride. I found myself staring at a cold Budweiser sitting on the bar, and honestly, I was so tempted I could have swallowed the whole damn bottle just to get the craving under control.

I’m finally starting to feel like myself again. I won't sit here and pretend the dark clouds have completely vanished—I still hit those walls every now and then—but the constant, crushing weight of wanting to end it all? That’s dropped from being my entire reality down to maybe thirty percent of the time. It’s progress, even if it doesn't feel perfect yet.
