Reddit is down for me

So, what's the deal with why it's been such a pain to actually get onto the Reddit lately? Like, seriously, what kind of massive upgrades are you guys running back there that keep knocking us all offline?🤷

So you route through a proxy server and then try to access a website using that same proxy.

It happened again. I can't access the Reddit
This time I actually went through the trouble of formatting my PC and reinstalling Windows
And wouldn't you know it—even after all that, I still couldn't get onto the Reddit for a couple of days

Which just goes to show there isn't an issue on the end-user side (so cleaning your drive or clearing cookies is a waste of time)
Clearly, the problem lies with the Reddit itself🤷

Your hardware and Windows installation have nothing to do with how the site runs; it’s just a matter of the browser. Sometimes things get hung up—Mozilla usually catches it—but then you just have to clear your cache and cookies...

I thought I finally had my computer running smoothly
but then the issue reared its head again...

You clearly missed the point: the Microsoft Community wasn't working immediately after I wiped the drive and reinstalled Windows.
So, all this talk about browsers, cookies, or registry tweaks is completely irrelevant—everything was at factory settings and couldn't have been corrupted by anything.

If Reddit is the only site getting blocked, and it still wouldn't load even after a clean install, then it’s pretty obvious where the problem lies.😉

I’ve been trying to get onto Reddit for a few days now, but most of the time, I just see the logo in the top left corner and the banner on the right. The subreddits won't load, and I've noticed the same thing happens whenever I try to check my private messages.
Is this an issue with the site itself, or is it something going on with my computer?
Just a heads-up, my PC decided to reinstall everything on its own recently.

It’s probably your computer, or maybe just your internet connection. Reddit seems to be working fine for me lately.

Yeah, I did. Same exact thing happened to me. Reddit just wouldn't load for the life of me.

Well, looks like the server actually went down this time, rather than it being a DNS issue.

When you're staring at a 503 error, there isn't much you can do. 😉

Man, this Reddit site has been driving me absolutely insane lately. I haven't been able to log in for days on end. It’s just constant lag, and then I get those stupid "internet cannot display" errors popping up over and over. Even when I finally manage to squeeze through the login screen after a few days of fighting it, everything breaks again. I can't scroll through pages, I can't even drop a post... nothing works. I barely managed to get back in just now after a massive struggle, but honestly, who knows what's broken. Anyone actually know how to fix this garbage so I can use the site like a normal person again? Everything else on my computer is running fine, so it's definitely something here.

It’s not actually on you; it’s just that the Reddit is currently under a Distributed Denial of Service attack. There isn't much you can do at this point besides waiting it out...

It took me forever just to get logged back in after a few days, and even now I can barely scroll through the pages without everything glitching out. This place is a total circus... honestly, I don't think any other Reddit community is this much of a disaster...

Now that the attack has finally subsided, is there any data available regarding who is responsible or where the source of the attacks originated?

Oh, and almost forgot... I keep getting that "server is too busy" error message, especially on the landing page. It's happening way more often lately

As for paying my bills, I don't know, man—I always settle up well before the deadline... but then again, if things go south, I wouldn't even be able to post on other sites like Reddit anyway. This one is pretty much all I've got. And yeah, the homepage keeps throwing that "server is too busy" error at me constantly. Today’s the first day it actually seems somewhat functional; I can even log in and post something without it blowing up.🙂Now, we'll just have to wait and see how long this lasts...

I can't access the Reddit site from my own PC, even though everything else is working fine. Strangely enough, my brother's computer loads the site without any issues at all.

I've been following this thread, but I'm a complete novice here. What exactly is a proxy? 🙈
What should I do?
