It isn't possible. You are already an admin 😛

Best of luck to you, my friend. I wasn't posting; I was just reading 👍

I have to admit, I haven't spent much time reading The New York Times lately; it’s just too painful to wade through all that nonsense and lack of class.
I did check out the banned users section and the complaints about your moderation, though, and realized we actually see eye to eye on most things.
So, I'm honestly sorry to see you stray from your principles.
But seriously.

Honestly, that was easily your smartest move yet. Between the constant heat from the forum users and now clear pressure from the admins, mistakes are bound to happen. It's inevitable.

Look, I’ve had my fair share of disagreements with driftingdriver over the years. Sometimes I didn't care for his takes, sometimes he was off base... just the usual back-and-forth.😁
But what’s happening in the politics section lately? It’s honestly gotten out of hand. Either there aren't enough mods, or they just don't give a damn anymore. Trolls are running wild, bot accounts are everywhere, people are hurling insults left and right, and it’s just a free-for-all. No one is stepping in to moderate the chaos.
The "edge" comes along every once in a while to ban some guy for having an opinion and calls it a day. That's about it. He doesn't care about anything else, and as for the rest of the mod team? They're practically nonexistent.
So, after thinking it over, I’m just sitting here feeling completely defeated. driftingdriver, please come back!!!!

Is there any chance driftingdriver would ever consider taking the job again? Regardless of how many flaws he had, at least he actually tried. He worked things the way he thought was best. There was some semblance of order under him. What we have now? It’s just senseless.

Thanks for the input, Walther. 🙂 If I could just turn back the clock to October 5, 2008, I’d certainly do things differently; everything seems more coherent than the political landscape we're stuck with today.
I actually have the desire to step back into political moderation, though I find it hard to believe the admins would ever go along with your proposal.
Isn't it true that those who take on too much are naturally more prone to making mistakes? I truly believe that working in closer coordination with the admins would lead to much smoother operations than what we've seen in the past.
I've been around this forum since its very inception, and I hold onto so many fond memories from years of interacting with all the different members here. I am always ready to lend a hand to the site in whatever capacity might be needed.

I am standing in solidarity with the founding members,

What is happening? The admins are pressuring the moderators while letting the trolls run wild!

I have a feeling we might lose one of our long-standing members soon. If this trend continues, more will inevitably follow.

Regards,

And Albatros, 👍 hang in there!

I’m fully behind Albatross on this one, because when it comes to the politics subreddits, you can never have too many moderators. It’s pretty obvious looking at how much the trolls and clone accounts have multiplied lately—it’s honestly becoming painful to watch, let alone read. I’ve even noticed some genuinely decent people disappearing from the discussions altogether. Not to mention how certain users, like "Asshole Sheep" and his ilk, have been running rampant for a while now without anyone lifting a finger to stop them. To be specific, there was this massive thread spanning over a hundred pages that just completely died out after that guy showed up; he never contributes anything constructive, yet he’s always there to call everyone else "idiots, hicks, or primitives."
I really think Reddit needs to maintain a baseline level of tolerance that shouldn't be breached.
That’s why I think we should give Albatross the green light to continue; he’s handled the role with real seriousness, and I have every confidence he can keep doing exactly that.

Look, I haven't always seen eye-to-eye with some of the mods—including albatros. Sure, sometimes it was their fault, but more often than not? It was mine.
But honestly, that’s all minor bullshit compared to the absolute circus currently running this site. Compared to what’s happening right now, those old disagreements are nothing. This place has become the Wild West.
There aren't enough mods to cover the sheer volume of threads. Between my own life and everything else, it's impossible to keep tabs on every single discussion and what's going down.

The insults, the belittling, the constant trolling, the spam, the off-topic nonsense—it’s gone off the rails. And don't even get me started on the clone accounts and the chaos they cause. Just look at the amateur hour being put on by sajo, kurac od ovce, user123, and that whole crowd of idiots.
Personally, I’ve lost the drive to even show up here. It sucks because we’ve lost so many high-quality regulars. We're talking people who were here for years, not just a few months, who just walked away because staying makes zero sense anymore. You’ve got User29 threatening to hack users and throwing insults around, while sajo and his crew ruin every thread before it even gets started. Where does this end?

I think it’s high time someone actually did something to save the reputation of this forum and bring back some order. Because of that, I am 100% behind albatros and his decision to step back into a moderation role.

A bunch of clones Viper, Mia Kiamosi, Saje, condor_, Lui konj, Sajotegleda, Krule... have made our entire forum policy completely pointless, because with just one short, stupid sentence, some moronic trolling remark, or just off-topic chatter—and most often just crude, low-class vulgarity—they destroy EVERY SINGLE THREAD. On the thread their idiotic strategy is laid out in much more detail...
And sure, I agree we need more moderators, but ABSOLUTELY NOT unstable, self-serving bullies like Albatross!!!. As for that guy's actual personality, I have no intention of wasting my breath, since he’s already been labeled on countless threads in this PDF as a two-faced, bottom-of-the-barrel, inappropriate creep...

We barely managed to get rid of that Albatroll, and then there was that even more shameful version of Writer... 👎

Also, that Johny BDL is definitely not fit to be a moderator for Mad House.
Because of those trolls, he keeps locking perfectly good threads instead of banning them????
I never thought I’d actually say that Mad House needs moderation, but Sajo, Viper, Mia, Kolasin, kurac od Ofca, Keijos... condor_ have totally ruined the charm of Mad House as a place for satire and experimental communication with their mindless drivel. Honestly, we should urgently thank Johny BDL for all the time he didn't spend and the effort he failed to show... especially the knowledge that, due to objective circumstances, he will never, ever have the chance to demonstrate... 👋

@granitemarlin77

So you're going to sit there and complain about the mods and certain users...🙄So, you're coming for me now?

He was just hurling insults and swearing at me, all because I wasn't born in America.🤷And now you're sitting here whining? You weren't even there.

Got a red card so hard I can't even swear about it. The whole topic just vanished like magic... yeah, right.

Would you even bother picking up the cardboard?🤷
Give me a break...

As for driftingdriver—he didn't spend enough time in the moderator seat for us to even begin judging whether he’d be any good at it today.

Posmatrač is actually pretty great...👍

Maybe the issue isn't actually how many moderators we have on staff. It might just be that they spend way too much time obsessing over politics. If they don't have the bandwidth to deal with it, then honestly? Just let them step down from moderation.

You’re over here complaining about the moderators and certain users again.🙄Well, you've got me.

He was hurling insults and swearing at me just because I wasn't from America.

He’s basically just a giant heart wrapped in a box of chocolates, so you shouldn't feel too bad about getting stung. I'm positive granitemarlin77 loves you. Honestly, who wouldn't fall for a girl like you? 😍

I just figured he’d be siding with Waste Management too.
It’s honestly pretty sad how people only bother supporting those who already agree with them. It's easy to hang out in an echo chamber where everyone thinks exactly the same way. That's just lazy.

So you’re really gonna sit there and complain about the mods and certain users on here? Seriously?🙄So you think you've got me figured out? Please.

He was throwing insults and swearing like crazy—all just because I'm not from America. Seriously?🤷And now you’re sitting here whining? Please—you weren't even there.
Got handed a red card so bad I can't even swear about it—the whole thread just vanished into thin air. Magic trick? Yeah, right. Just don't.
Would YOU even bother picking up the cardboard?🤷
Give me a break...

I already laid out exactly what needs to happen if we want to salvage any shred of dignity left on this political sub—because let’s be real, this place is a total circus right now. Not even going to get started on the Mad House. So, is the board actually going to bring back driftingdriver, or are they picking someone else? Whatever they decide, please, for the love of god, don't let it be anyone like what Stoker was describing—basically just a bunch of old-school fossils.
Look, it’s not really my thing to go around throwing insults—especially not at some random guy on a forum. I don't even care enough to sink down to that level.
If I acted like that toward you—well, just be real and admit you earned it.
Look, this thread isn't about you and me—so back off.

Harold Sanders10 said:I just figured he'd be backing Waste Management too. Simple as that.

No point even bothering—it's just a three-day break, not like they're retiring or anything.👍

granitemarlin77 said:I made it crystal clear what needs to happen immediately if we want to restore some shred of dignity to the politics section because this whole thing has become a joke, not to mention the Mad House.
Usually, I don't go around insulting people, and I definitely don't stoop to swearing at forum users like that.
If I actually treated you that way, rest assured, you earned it.
But this thread isn't about you and me, so back off.

Look, I agree that the politics section has been a total train wreck over the last few months. 🤷
And "you don't stoop to that level"? Please. Now that there aren't any actual topics to talk about, it's easy for you to act high and mighty with your vocabulary...

"Earned it," 🙄 please, give me a break. You attacked me, not the other way around, and I didn't say a single personal thing to you... so since you're clearly feeling privileged by the moderators, don't start complaining now...
Anyway, I agree with you—let's stop wasting this topic so the other users with a clean conscience can actually share their thoughts...

Here's my suggestion, Hroboatos

driftingdriver and I aren't exactly on the same page here, but from what I've seen, he handled the moderator duties just fine, and honestly, I think they should offer him that role back... provided, of course, that he actually wants it (since he was the one who stepped down in the first place).

but don't act all high and mighty about it. Now that there's nothing left to debate, it's easy for you to sit back and judge someone else's vocabulary...

We already laid out the situation on the politics board and what actually needs to happen to fix things—this isn't about you or me.
Go back and read your own posts from before and compare them to what you're saying now. Ask yourself what the hell you're even doing here. Don't act shocked when someone snaps at you—you basically invited it. When I go off on someone, believe me, they earned every bit of it. Honestly.
Stop trolling this thread and either make a real point or just move on,☕

I’m not sure if you’re being serious here, but since you asked, let me give you my take. Ideally, mods are supposed to stay objective, though we all know how hard that actually is in practice; personally, I think the fix is simple: have two mods lean left, two lean right, and two sit right in the center.

And why stop there? Let's throw in a White American Woman and Crokoala just to hit our female quota.
So far, I haven't run into any sharp-witted leftists over there—except for him, and he's more of a centrist type.

As far as I can tell, there isn't a single sharp-witted leftist over there—except for himself, of course, since he's part of that whole "civic option" crowd.

Look, my grammar was perfectly fine. When I used the term "leftist," I wasn't making any assumptions about the moderator's gender. And let’s be real, those Americans from the Diaspora don't even factor into this discussion, especially when you consider they take more pride in their American identity than anyone else ever could. Simba Os is a right-winger, and driftingdriver is one, too. 😕🙏

I originally just wanted to poke fun at your betting odds, but now you've given me an excuse to mock your spelling, too. Thanks.

And these Americans from the Diaspora aren't even considered in the political conversation, even if they take more pride in their American heritage than anyone else.

Oh, right. Second-class citizens. I guess we should just treat observers like they're completely invisible, then. 🙂
