Honestly, I don't want that classic straight nose Glumičić suggested during my consultation—I want the tip to tilt up a bit. Is Tony Stark or John Smith better for that?? thanks

Glumičić definitely does the cutest noses if that's what you're after.
He’s actually famous for that!!! He won't second-guess you—if you want a tiny nose where you can barely breathe, he'll just do it. He's a true plastic surgeon.
Unlike the ENT/maxillofacial surgeons who refuse to put aesthetics before how the nose actually functions.

I have a question, and I’ve been scouring everything online so I don't end up bothering you all for no reason, but I haven't found an answer anywhere.
So, here's the deal: I recently had some sinus imaging done, and it turns out I have chronic sinus issues caused by a deviated septum. Basically, I broke my nose back when I was a kid and never bothered seeing a doctor about it, so it healed all crooked. Now, I’m facing surgery to fix the septum. What I really want to know is: based on your experiences, which specialist or hospital would you recommend for this under Medicare? Also, is there any chance they can perform a cosmetic correction on my nose if I request it? If that isn't an option, would it be possible for me to just pay the difference out of pocket while they are already fixing the septum?
Thanks!

He’s basically built for that! He won't even hesitate—if you want a tiny nose that makes it hard to breathe, he'll do it. He's purely focused on the aesthetics.
Unlike those ENT/maxillofacial surgeons who refuse to put looks ahead of how well your nose actually functions.

I couldn't reach an agreement with him at all. He showed me on the computer what I'd look like after the surgery... it was an aesthetically fine, straight nose, but it wasn't what I wanted. When I explained my preference, he just said no—he argued the difference would be so subtle nobody would even notice. And I'm supposed to pay 14 $0.00 ?!! No thanks, I'm looking elsewhere... nobody mentioned anything about Tony Stark, and I need to decide fast because I have a consultation there today.

That's definitely doable. Maybe try Mercy Hospital; I've heard good things about them. A colleague of mine had nose surgery there and mentioned they handle just about everything.

I’m curious—how is it that nobody seems to be using nose molds?😬 I mean, I notice Dr. Glušac isn't doing it, so I'm wondering if those things are only used after a full-on nose reconstruction or what...

I told him exactly what I was looking for, but he just said no—claiming the difference would be so subtle that hardly anyone would even notice. And then I'm supposed to pay 14k for that... $0.00 Nothing yet... still looking... nobody's said a single word about Tony Stark, and I need to know ASAP since I have that consultation there today?!

Tony Stark does straight noses—definitely not him if that's the look you're going for...
Just go... then you'll finally understand. He isn't going to work like some little kid trying to mimic Glumičić's nose... he's looking for someone who actually fits your face, your head shape, your beard, and your lips. But most importantly? He needs you breathing in the exact same rhythm as him...
Maybe you should head over to Kincl...

If you go to Glušac, he'll definitely give you that upturned nose you're looking for.

I don't know about Kincl... I've been reading about how he treats his patients here, and honestly, I don't think we'd get along. On the other hand, I met two girls who had nose and breast surgery done by John Smith, and they actually recommended him. His website shows great profile shots of noses, but looking at them head-on, they just look the same as before... I don't really get it, but oh well. As for Tony Stark, there aren't even any photos to show what he can do. I think I might just cancel my consultation.

I wouldn't go quite that far—that much is certain. With so many plastic surgeons in NYC, I guess it's risky if something goes wrong... I really don't want to have to travel all the way to the coast just to get it fixed. Not really my idea of fun.

It also kind of bugs me that everyone keeps insisting I shouldn't get nose surgery.

Look, if you want a killer nose, traveling is totally worth it. 😁 As for complications... honestly, if things go south, you're screwed no matter where you are. But let's be real: in this day and age, major issues like that are pretty damn rare.

I also have one more question: roughly how long is the waitlist at these hospitals for that kind of procedure?
Thanks so much!🙂

I'm not exactly sure about the wait times, but maybe you could just give them a call and see how far out their schedule is booked. From there, you'd just grab a referral from your primary care doctor and you're good to go.

Signature. Honestly, I'd pack my bags and leave the States entirely if I had the cash—and I definitely wouldn't be heading to Washington, D.C.

Nobody actually answered my question... rustygardener172?🤷

Bravo, I truly applaud you for that response! That is exactly what I used to say myself, and man, did I learn my lesson the hard way. I once went to a doctor who lived just thirty minutes away from me, and he completely botched my procedure. I won't get into all that drama since it's not the main topic, but it taught me a massive lesson. I know for a fact that a girl flew all the way from Australia to see Dr. Glušac because she heard his work is top-tier. Personally, even though I live six hours away from Dr. Glušac, I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else; I'd travel that distance every single time to see him. Now, two of my close friends are planning to go to him for their own rhinoplasty because they are absolutely obsessed with how mine turned out. What is a few extra hours of driving compared to spending the rest of your life walking past store windows, catching your reflection, and wishing your face looked better? Take it from me—that's some solid friendly advice.😉

Oh man... I totally missed this question entirely. 🙂 Actually, Dr. Glušac *does* use a mold, it's just a bit different—it's like this mesh thing... I had to wear it for four days straight along with some heavy taping... and then after that, I just stuck with the tape for a few more days.

Does anyone have a rough idea of what the wait times look like at public hospitals? Honestly, I’m in no rush—I’ll wait as long as it takes to find someone who actually knows what they’re doing and will provide high-quality care. I called Mercy Hospital today just to try and schedule an appointment, even though I’ve already been in for a consultation to get a second opinion and decide which facility to go with. I asked my sister if she could give me a ballpark estimate on the wait, but she told me there was absolutely no way for her to know...

Well, it just depends on the person, right? Like, I know some people who have to deal with nasal tampons for 2 to 4 days and then the packing for a full 6 or 7... but over at Dr. Glušac's office, it's way faster—tampons for just one day and the packing for 4. 😁

Alex Scott14 said:Can anyone recommend an ENT specialist in Washington, D.C.? 🙂

I've got a ton of questions weighing on me—it's about sinus surgery...

Dr. South - Saint Jude
Dr. Grgić at Mayo Clinic
Dr. Janjanin and Dr. Mladin

So, I actually had my surgery at the hospital two months ago with Dr. Janjanin.
All I can say is that the doctor and the entire ENT department were absolutely fantastic.
I would definitely give Dr. J. my vote...👍
