Nathan Evans78 said:It’s a total circus over in the EU right now. ☕

Two Commission officials mentioned that, according to the latest estimates coming out of Brussels, gas savings could top 30 billion cubic meters—even if every single member state decides to lean on those political exemptions.

But over what timeframe?

"Way more, honestly, much more," one Commission official insisted. "But I can't go into specifics."

"It's tough to pin down because we haven't actually seen any hard math yet," an EU diplomat noted.

"The Commission is banking on a 30 billion cubic meter reduction, but frankly, nobody knows for sure and nobody has actually crunched the numbers," another EU diplomat added.

I’ll put both my eggs in one basket if these bureaucrats ever realize they should just tell Duke Energy to cap apartment heating at 70 degrees this winter and call it a day. ☕
My neighbor is already complaining about how freezing her place is and asking for advice. When the first elderly folks start dying of hypothermia in their own homes, we'll probably end up blaming some technician at HEPU.

Just look at that National Guard armory in Ohio. They lost 200 armored vehicles—about 100 of them were T55 tanks... tens of thousands of small arms, maybe 300 pieces of various artillery... you think we just conjured those up from nowhere? ☕

Ukrainians can't pull stuff out of thin air. They need serious help, not your attitude. ☕

That sounds like a total freeze-out to me. Personally, 70 feels pretty great.

It is common knowledge that once you hit 70 degrees, your blood starts to freeze in your veins.😬

It won't be some random tech, though; it'll be the big boss at Exelon Heating making a call to cut people off, essentially forcing everyone to insulate their places better and stop opening their windows.

Over the last 2 years, there was maybe one single month where it actually got cold enough for them to send 212°F water through the lines, and the whole system—including the buildings themselves—is designed around that being the bare minimum needed to get actual heat out of the radiators. Most of the year, they barely manage to keep it at 176°F, and then in the summer they drop it to 140°F just because they figure heating water doesn't require much effort.

At this rate, depending on the building, we'll probably see a max of 176°F this year, no matter how brutal the winter gets.
And if Murphy's Law holds up, we're definitely looking at the harshest winter we've seen in a decade right when we need the heat most.😁

We basically tripped ourselves up because nobody was supplying us. I've said it more than once: Ukrainians don't need a lecture on Winston Churchill. They need 1,000 tanks (even old T-55s work; like someone said, if they fire ten rounds before getting blown up, they did their job), 20,000 artillery pieces, and 1,000 planes.

Or do you think good vibes and a dozen roses are enough? ☕

A Russian oligarch living in exile in England mentioned it would have been smarter for the EU to keep trading with Russia. They could have pocketed $200 billion in monthly industrial profits, then easily sent a quarter of that to Ukraine for weapons. How much has America actually provided so far? Maybe $10 billion?

I'm sending a kiss to the Ukrainian girl on the front lines. Maybe that'll help since that's clearly what you think works. ☕

Do you honestly imagine that Western nations possess thousands of tanks, planes, and artillery units sitting in some warehouse just waiting to be shipped to Ukraine (or anyone else)? Maintaining such stockpiles is an expensive endeavor—buying massive amounts of hardware only to let it sit there gathering dust is a logistical nightmare. Most nations hold only the bare minimum required. The Americans might be the exception, given how often they engage in conflict and how much they invest in defense. At best, the West has an industrial base capable of responding if needed, but reserves remain minimal. This is precisely why they organize under NATO; it serves as a guarantee against aggression, and collective defense is significantly more cost-effective than everyone fighting their own isolated battles.
Trading with Russia simply means allowing them to expand their military capabilities. That is a direction of action that is entirely undesirable at this moment. Even the White House needs to learn that they aren't the only players on the global stage.

If you think you're actually getting warm this winter through central heating, just buy some thick blankets and long pants now. You're gonna need them.

At the end of the day, freezing is a smaller evil than funding an aggressor.

Honestly, they don't even need to be particularly thick blankets. We can all just stay warm with the comforting thought that that absolute Russian scum is rotting away in Ukraine, dying by the handful from Western-made weaponry.

Honestly, look at the bright side—this is a massive business opportunity! Just buy a million fleece blankets now, and once the temperature hits sub-zero like that "neutral" observer mentioned a few days ago, you'll be sitting pretty with a 500% profit margin... what a way to make a buck!

I’m sitting here reading this, and apparently, Zelenskyy promised us we'd have electricity delivered all winter long, so there’s just nothing to worry about in the West.
Putin, go rot in hell.😁

So, what happened back in 2008 when Russia invaded Georgia? Did we suddenly lose our ability to care then? I’m just curious to see if we’re actually being consistent with this moral grandstanding we do all over social media. ☕

Medical experts actually suggest that sleeping in a room kept around 65 or 66 degrees Fahrenheit is much better for you than cranking the AC up to 72 or higher...

Doctors also mention that showering every single day isn't exactly the healthiest habit for our skin.

Honestly, Americans are dealing with some serious obesity issues right now; I truly believe having a little one running around the house would do wonders for everyone's health and overall well-being...
