I mean, at this point, his name is really all he’s got left to lean on. He keeps bringing up 2005 and 2006 like it was yesterday, but honestly, I feel like I should be the one reminding everyone how Jordan just absolutely cleaned house back then

Look, Proslos is ancient history; you’ve gotta stop living in the rearview mirror. You don't see anyone talking about Renault these days, right? What they're attempting to pull off now would actually be a massive win if it worked—it would pack the top tier with more heavy hitters and make the season actually worth watching—but, let's be real, I’m not holding my breath 🤷

And honestly, looking at how those titles were won, he could spend the rest of his life thanking fortuna, though even then, it wouldn't be enough.👎

Honestly, anyone with half a brain who stays current with F1 would say yes.🤷

I mean, obviously, if you ask those hardcore superfans—you know, the teenagers who live and breathe every single lap—they’d probably tell you Kubica is outperforming Alonso right now just to be contrarian.😉

I mean, let’s be real here—that’s their entire legacy. Two championships and they think they’ve conquered the world? Please. That’s about it.
rustystag7 said:Look, if you’re actually grounded in reality and keeping a close eye on Formula 1, then you’re basically part of the sane majority at this point. It’s one of those things where if you aren't following the drama, the engineering, and the absolute madness of the grid, you're probably just living in some sort of delusional bubble. 🤷

Of course, if you’re talking to those die-hard fanatics who haven't looked up from a screen since they were fifteen, they’ll swear up and down that Kubica is actually outperforming Alonso right now. It’s always the same story with that crowd.😉

And where did everyone like Kimi and the rest of the crew disappear to? Honestly, listening to you talk makes me feel like I’m stuck in a room with a fifteen-year-old. Seriously, some of these takes are just pure adolescent rambling.

man, Jason Campbell70, you are seriously out of your mind...
look, I get that we don't see eye to eye on everything—it's like when I argue with someone over a Stark Industries stock tip or whatever—but man, you're just constantly picking fights. honestly, it feels like I'm talking to a teenager stuck in middle school.🤷

sorry, didn't mean to be rude, but it's just how it is.🤷

every single thing I say, you just jump in with emojis and nothing else... zero actual arguments...

I mean, what are we doing? Are we kids? Are we gonna act like toddlers in a playground fighting over whose dad is cooler? We should be actually debating things with logic, right? That's why we're even here, isn't it?🤷

And what was so funny about me saying Alonso is the best driver in F1 right now??? Who could possibly be better than him????🤷

I have no desire to start a debate over how Alonso secured his titles. It would just trigger an avalanche of off-topic threads, and that’s the last thing I want. 🙂

Answering your question:
It’s definitely Kimi Räikkönen.
Lewis Hamilton.
Even Robert Kubica.

It was simple, really. A perfect storm of circumstances favored Alonso. A bit of luck here, a few things falling into place there—and just like that, he walked away with two titles to add to his collection.

I’ve been sitting here reflecting on certain facts, and look, I’ll be the first to admit that we don't always see eye to eye—I have my disagreements with hollowhawk412 from time to time, just like anyone else—but honestly, you spend the entire time just stubbornly defending your own little bubble, and it leaves me with this nagging sensation that I’m essentially trying to hold a serious conversation with a fifteen-year-old. 🤷

Look, I truly didn't mean to cause any offense, but honestly, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. 🤷

You just jump into every single conversation with nothing but a handful of emojis, yet you fail to offer even one shred of actual substance or a coherent argument to back up what you're saying.

Good grief, honestly, are we really acting like a bunch of toddlers, constantly throwing these petty little posts at one another, claiming my old man is better than your father, or dragging out these endless, exhausting debates just to prove some point? It’s frankly exhausting to witness such immaturity when, at the end of the day, isn't the entire purpose of being here to actually engage in meaningful discourse? 🤷

What exactly is so hilarious about my claim that Fernando Alonso is the best driver currently on the grid? Honestly, I don’t see the joke. Who on earth could possibly be better than him right now?🤷

We’re all making progress, I suppose... I’ve even managed to evolve into a somewhat functioning, coherent member of this forum. 😁

I’m telling you, Pilla just isn't making any headway, and frankly, it’s becoming quite frustrating to watch. 🙂

P.S.

Well... perhaps what I really needed was a full-blown revolution. 😁

But where does that leave Kimi? Honestly, saying stuff like that makes me think you're just some fifteen-year-old kid.

Which Kimi are we even talking about here??? What has he actually accomplished in his career to be considered one of the greats??? 🤷

Sure, he’s shown he can be lightning fast in short bursts and really squeeze every bit of juice out of a car, but he's also shown he messes up way more than Alonso does. He just doesn't know how to manage the car or keep things steady when he needs to....
And look, thank God I'm not judging him based on his current form right now, I'm looking at the big picture...

Just because he's good right this second doesn't mean I've forgotten what the scene looked like two or three years ago. It's kind of like how I haven't forgotten when Alonso stepped up and took down Michael Schumacher, who was my absolute hero back in the day...

The reality is quite simple; a specific set of circumstances just happened to align perfectly for Alonso, providing him with enough luck to tuck two titles away in his trophy cabinet.

But exactly what method did he use to win them?

Are you actually suggesting that Alonso had the edge over Michael Schumacher back in 2005 and 2006?

I suppose I could see the logic there.😁

fair enough... maybe I actually needed a total overhaul myself😁
man, hollowhawk412, seriously, respect. you know we used to go at it constantly, just total chaos, but looking back, you're actually one of the good ones. I was grabbing a burger with Manuel Ruiz Costa the other day and we were chatting, and when I brought up the names people are throwing around for the moderator spot, he was absolutely losing it laughing...

so we actually hit on the idea that it wouldn't be such a bad move if you threw your hat in the ring. you're always hanging out here anyway, and you've basically become part of the furniture👍

The reality is that for Fernando Alonso, a few different things just happened to line up perfectly at the right time—a heavy dose of luck combined with the right circumstances—and he walked away with two titles sitting in his trophy case.

Are you kidding me? Mentioning Lewis Hamilton in this context is ridiculous; the guy is practically a pioneer in Formula 1, so that's a pretty laughable take if you ask me.😂

Look, the guy has proven he can be lightning fast in short bursts and that he knows how to wring every last drop of performance out of a car, but let's be real—he also shows he makes way more mistakes than Fernando Alonso does, and he just doesn't have that knack for tempering his aggression or settling the car down when he needs to....
And for the record, I’m not even weighing in on his current form right now; I’m looking at the big picture, the whole damn trajectory...

Just because he's having a decent run lately doesn't mean I've developed amnesia regarding how things looked two or three years ago, just like I haven't forgotten how Fernando Alonso eventually overtook Schumacher, who was my absolute hero back in the day...

Well, if you had been paying attention to his entire career, you wouldn't have been acting like this back between 2000 and 2004.

Sure, but racing is a lifelong pursuit. His entry into Formula 1 was carefully planned, and he proved during his very first season that he has exactly what it takes to be a future world champion.

I honestly don't see why people insist on making such a massive deal out of this specific topic when the underlying reality is so much more obvious to anyone paying even a modicum of attention to the situation at hand. It feels like we are constantly circling the same drain, rehashing arguments that were settled years ago, yet here we are again, caught in this endless loop of manufactured outrage and superficial analysis that serves absolutely no one. I have spent a significant amount of time reflecting on how these discussions tend to spiral into complete nonsense, where the nuance is stripped away in favor of loud, empty gestures, and frankly, it is exhausting to witness such a lack of intellectual rigor being applied to something that should be treated with far more gravity. kaže:
Well, hollowhawk412, I have to hand it to you, because even though we’ve spent half our lives tearing each other apart in these threads, looking back, you really do stand out as one of the better ones in this group. It’s funny how things shift over time, isn't it? I was actually grabbing a slice at a local pizza joint with Manuel Ruiz Kostas the other day—just a casual catch-up, nothing major—and when I started bringing up all the different names being thrown around for the moderator position, he absolutely lost it, just dying of laughter at the whole ridiculous situation.

So, we actually reached the conclusion that it might not be such a bad idea for you to throw your hat in the ring and run for the position, mainly because you’re around here so much and, frankly, you’ve already managed to get yourself completely tangled up in all this mess anyway. 👍

I appreciate the kind words, really, I do... though I have to say, one of my buddies—a total hillbilly, honestly—actually went ahead and nominated me for this, but if I’m being completely honest, I just don't feel ready to step up yet. 😁

I have this persistent, nagging dread whenever the concept of commitment starts creeping into my life. It’s this heavy, sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that settles in the moment things start feeling too permanent or too structured. I find myself constantly second-guessing every major decision, paralyzed by the sheer weight of what an obligation actually entails once you've signed on the dotted line. It’s exhausting, really, to live in this state of perpetual hesitation, always looking over my shoulder at the potential consequences of being tied down to one thing, one person, or one path, and frankly, I’m not sure there is an easy way out of this mental loop. 😁

Well, I see we’ve gone ahead and appointed a new moderator, though if you ask me, their handle sounds rather questionable.
The regulatory body—those folks over at the FIA—really needs to get their act together. 😉

It’s absolutely perfect for keeping unruly behavior in check. 🙂

It’s pretty simple, really. A few things just aligned perfectly for Alonso—a whole lot of luck was involved—and he managed to tuck two titles away in his trophy cabinet.

Man, let some off-topic stuff happen! Thank God we have them, they're here for discussion. From what I can see, it might actually be one of the better ways to keep this place alive since people might finally start talking about something...

Looking at the way you laid out those points, it feels like you're judging based strictly on current form, right? Because that's how you ranked them, but if you look at how things played out over the last few years generally speaking...🤷

Sure, Alonso had plenty of luck fall his way, but don't forget the guy drove his heart out and even took down Michael Schumacher. And we're talking about a guy who people either call the greatest ever or fight about constantly—either way, he wasn't just some random dude on the grid.🤷

And don't overlook how disinterested Kimi seemed at the start of last season, or how he basically didn't know his own car during testing—which is something he straight up admitted himself.😉

The experts say Alonso was basically the only driver besides Schumacher a couple of seasons back who really obsessed over the technical mechanics of the car. Now, I'm not sure where things stand though...🤷 is any of the newer guys actually digging into the tech like that?.....

As for Kubica, the kid's a genius and a killer driver, but he's still nowhere near being in that top 3 tier. Generally speaking, he hasn't really done anything at the absolute peak level yet. He hasn't made that one big move—like what Hamilton did early on—to show he's truly standing in a league of his own.

He’s had some stellar drives,🙏 but in a direct fight this season, he hasn't shown he’s ready to go toe-to-toe with Ferrari or McLaren yet.

Maybe this sounds dumb now, but look at the last race: he finished great and was on pole, but then he just choked at the start, lost ground to the pack, and eventually got eaten up by Kimi too, leaving him stuck in third.🤷

Look, I'm not hating on the kid, but he's still miles away from being on Alonso's level.🤷

I'm just terrified of the commitment... 😁

but hey, looks like we got a new mod who sounds pretty much like a total
federal regulator (FIA) 😉

perfect for cracking down on anyone acting out 🙂

The FIA probably pulled their cleats out of the mud or whatever you call it ages ago, but maybe they just can't stand watching this forum go downhill anymore and finally decided to step up and do something...🤷
