Man, what a powerhouse of a movie! I totally agree—it’s been ages since I’ve seen a genuinely GOOD comedy.🙂

And then there's that part where he's stuffing his face with those crackers, mayo, and ketchup.........

Or when he's window shopping, meticulously planning which suit to buy... honestly, such a great touch.....

I also can't forget when he gets bored and ends up building and painting that entire wall himself, only for the contractors to show up the next morning and treat him like their star employee!

I just want to know one thing here:

if some of you actually thought it was great, doesn't that mean the director managed to pull off a decent (and actually watchable!!) movie about something that basically has zero plot? I mean, we're talking over two hours of stuff happening in one single location. 🤔

If that's the case, then it has to be good. That's just incredibly hard to pull off, I guess. 🙂

That’s not necessarily true! You can churn out a cheap, low-budget indie flick in no time and still end up with a total disaster.

I’ve seen it—the Movie was honestly fine. You can definitely have a good laugh, I'd give it a solid 4/10 myself.

But can someone please tell me if it's actually a true story? I heard it was inspired by real events, but my gut tells me the guy actually lived at JFK or something—okay, whatever, you know what I mean—😁 I think.

Does anyone actually know for sure?

Steven Spielberg is totally out of his element here.

Haven't seen it yet. But based on the trailers and everything I've read, I'm with you.🙂 It feels like Spielberg didn't just miss the mark—he missed the entire target.

This is exactly the kind of movie that seems to come naturally to Steven Spielberg:

A witty little fairy tale, just aimed at a slightly older crowd this time around.

I’d give it a solid 7/10.

I’ve never really had an issue with Tom Hanks. Honestly, he comes across as pretty asexual to me—like, I just can't picture him kissing anyone—but he doesn't try too hard to project those "I'm a total sex god" vibes either. That’s actually why he works so well in these kinds of movies. He has this sort of boyish, innocent quality about him... which fits perfectly with that idea of having a "vast, endless soul... like the Great Plains" (I know, that sounds incredibly cheesy, feel free to roast me. My mom is obsessed with literature and tends to quote stuff like that all the time), though in this case, it felt more like a wide-open Midwestern vibe.

Anyway,

The part that really got me was when he said "television"🙂.

I actually quite liked The Terminal. The casting was much better than giving the role to Tom Hanks, who already did his thing as Forrest Gump. I’d give it an 8.5 out of 10... a genuinely pleasant surprise. Though, I suppose taste is subjective, and people tend to say my taste in movies is decent enough. 😉 As for the classics, if you haven't seen Scent of a Woman (Al Pacino), Silence of the Lambs (Anthony Hopkins), The Abyss (Ed Harris), or even the 50s version of Lolita (James Mason), then you might as well just shoot yourself. 😁

It looks like we’ve crossed paths again—though this time, I'm dropping by the Movie subforum.
I’ve always had a soft spot for sci-fi; there’s just something about how they let the imagination run wild, and
they’re usually packed with those clever Sci-Fi Tricks used to pull off such visually stunning scenes.
Personally, I’m a huge fan of things like "Star Trek" (both the movies and the series), Terminator,
Mission to Mars, Sphere, and the Star Wars trilogy, among others.

As for which one is the absolute best? That's a tough call—it's almost impossible to say—but certain classics have definitely achieved

If they pulled that off, then the movie has to be good; that is incredibly difficult to achieve. 🙂

I wouldn't say it's that hard, though; you just have to give the actors enough room to run with it.

If anyone is actually planning on sitting through this—honestly, don't. I can't even remember the last time I sat through a movie that was quite this tedious. It’s just a slog.

I might have to agree with that recommendation... though, frankly, I have no idea how you managed to find it funny! :P

I think you guys are talking about that guy whose asylum request was denied by the French government, and now his home country (maybe Iran or Iraq...) won't take him back, or maybe he's just stateless, something like that. It really would've been cool if Steve had made a movie about him—honestly, that's what I was hoping for.
But hey, life happens...😢

Well, of course it isn't just that! But let's be realistic—don't go expecting any miracles. Personally, I'd definitely watch it again once I have some free time, because for me, it was totally worth the watch.
