Maria James94 said:None of the MCU movies really make you stop and think about the themes being presented.
You watch them, wait for the post-credit scene to wrap up, and then just move on with your life without a single second spent pondering what you actually saw.
The runtime is basically just long enough to let you zone out for a bit so your brain doesn't have to work for those two hours—maybe even catch a nap... if you like the movie, cool. If not, whatever, it doesn't matter.

I suppose we all already know that, which is fine, but I feel like this particular one is just some sort of failed parody.

I just finished watching this... honestly, it felt a bit much. It was way too sugary and colorful, almost like someone ran over a clown. There were parts where the pacing dragged, and I didn't find much humor—at least nothing particularly good. I’d say it's the worst Thor movie yet.
It's fine enough to watch if you have the time, but I wouldn't bother seeing it in theaters. Maybe stick to other media instead.

5.1/10, just enough to scrape by the halfway mark.

Honestly, once that heavy intro with Christian Bale hit, the movie already had me hooked. If they hadn't started off with such a brilliant, "serious" vibe, I don't think the constant stream of jokes would have even worked. And speaking of jokes, the whole thing gets hijacked by yet another "heavy hitter" 🙏 Russell Crowe, who basically carries the weight of the rest of the mess so it's actually digestible.

Also, that Gorr guy? He’s totally wasted on just brawling. They went way too overboard with the physical fights between him and everyone else. He’d be way more intimidating if he actually used some other tactics instead of just swinging stuff.

The director definitely shows a ton of potential here. I mean, when you can take a total disaster like this and somehow make it watchable, it makes me wonder what else he can pull off.

The plot feels a lot like the Ms. Marvel series—I don’t even know how to describe it, just a whole lot of cheesiness and some pretty bad jokes in the first half. Things pick up a little and get a tiny bit more serious toward the end, but honestly? Overall, Thor: Love and Thunder is just fun nonsense. The only part I actually enjoyed was that scene where they're traveling on a boat being pulled by goats. I used to think Eternals was a bad movie, but this one might actually take the title. Personally, it's the worst Marvel movie I've seen so far. The only reason to sit through it is to keep up with the MCU timeline, since all these movies and shows are tied together into one big narrative for every saga. I do like that aspect, though. They're slowly building out this new Multiverse Saga, and I'm just curious to see how much this specific movie actually impacts the direction of everything moving forward.

What even was that? 🤔

A few people were hanging out at the Hemsworths' BBQ and filmed some random home video. Then they just tacked Christian Bale onto it later? Because honestly, that’s exactly how it feels—like some stupid family prank to kill time on a boring weekend. And a pretty bad one at that.
If this is what Marvel is settling for...

Watched 🙂

It starts off strong enough with a legitimate villain... but after that, the whole thing just falls apart. Honestly, I would have preferred if the antagonist had just wiped the floor with everyone 😁
.
The occasional glimpses of the villain serve as a brief reminder that this might actually be a movie rather than a total parody, but then you hit those scenes with the kids... and suddenly it’s all "you’re Thor, I’m Thor, we’re all Thor" 🤣
.
And don't even get me started on those forced political correctness moments 🙄—having Valkyrie as a lesbian and Korg as gay. It screams incompetent writing. Could they not provide at least a shred of substance? For instance, regardless of her physical state, Valkyrie should have flown in at the end to assist Jane, or perhaps Korg's partner could have actually appeared and played some part in the plot. Instead, it feels like a lazy "fine, let's just throw in some queer characters" checkbox exercise 🤣
.
In short, without a properly developed antagonist, this entire film would be even worse than a mere parody.

Thor: The Saga of Gorr the God Butcher (written by Jason Aaron & illustrated by Esad Ribić) stands out as one of the finest Marvel stories we've seen in decades, which makes this movie feel like a complete letdown by comparison. It’s such a missed opportunity. Given how much the MCU is already obsessed with cosmic travel and time loops, they could have actually done something meaningful with Gorr. They had the chance to show a villain so overwhelming that a single Thor couldn't touch him—someone who required his younger and older selves, two Mjolnirs, and basically the entire timeline just to be stopped.

Look, I’ll just say this once so I don't have to repeat myself: if you're going to clog up the reviews with misogyny, homophobia, or racism after watching this movie, then just don't watch it. Seriously. If you've got a problem with any of those topics, stay home.

Is Hollywood trying to lecture us again? 🤦
I mean, god, if I actually wanted an education, I’d sit through some boring documentary instead of a supposedly "unserious" sci-fi action flick.

Like, when I'm watching The Shawshank Redemption, I'm not sitting there thinking, "Oh my god, Morgan Freeman is Black." 😲 🙏

I bet you didn't even realize that Morgan Freeman's character was actually white in the book. Seriously, listen to this, man. He was pale as a ghost.😁
