Only payments from your own account are accepted; we can't process transfers from third parties.

So, at the end of the day, you'll just be making the payment in either Euros or Dollars and then letting the bank handle the conversion into US Dollars.

Hey everyone, quick question. I got a transfer hit my account around 11 PM last night and moved the funds over immediately. Usually, Wise has everything cleared by the morning, but I haven't received an email notification today. It just says "Your money's being processed"... any chance there's just a delay in the system?

Not trying to be a nuisance, but I'm confused about why this money is still stuck in processing. Normally, once I move it to my account, I get a confirmation within thirty minutes saying "We pay out your USD now." Could there be an issue? The option to cancel the transaction is still showing up on my end...

They might be running some extra background checks...

So, I went to withdraw some cash today. I was expecting $240, but there was a $19 Bank of America fee listed on the paperwork. Can someone make sense of this? This has never happened to me before. Looking back at my old statements from Chase, the bank fee was always listed as $0.00. What's going on now...

Thanks. Any advice on how to prevent this? It’s never happened before; I’ve been using Wise since March and never ran into fees. Has anyone else dealt with this, and is there a way to avoid it?

Does anyone know how I can avoid this next time? It seems like nobody else here has run into this issue. I should mention that this was my first time transferring funds around midnight; I usually handle everything in the morning, though I'm not sure if the timing actually matters...

I just stopped by Chase to get an analytical statement. They didn't charge me that $19 fee they mentioned before, so I'm still not entirely sure what happened there...

I didn't see this coming. Wise took about $4, my bank took $2.50, and then there was this extra $19 on top. It's quite a chunk... I reached out to Wise and they gave me this response:

Are you processing this transfer via SWIFT? If that's the case, most likely this fee is due to the bank or intermediaries fees. Unfortunately, we can't predict or control these fees and you can read more about this here: https://wi.se/swiftpayments.

I was wondering if anyone might be able to lend a hand here. I’d certainly appreciate it.

So, I run a small independent consultancy here in the States, and I've just landed a contract with a company based in the US. They need to send over my payments every two weeks, and they've given me the choice of using either PayPal or Wise.

Currently, my setup includes PayPal, Revolut, and my standard business checking and savings accounts over at Wells Fargo—plus, I recently opened a Wise account after reading that it tends to be the most cost-effective option for this kind of thing.

I've already activated my Wise business account and even sent over a 150 HRK verification deposit, which is currently sitting in my Wise balance.

The issue is, when I navigate to my HRK balance and try to click "Receive"—specifically the "View and share account details" or "Request a payment" options—everything is just greyed out. I can't click a single thing.

Furthermore, if I head over to the USD section under Account details, Wise is prompting me to pay a one-time fee of 185 HRK for the ability to "receive payments from clients and connect with payment platforms." It seems like I'm stuck in a loop where I can't actually collect any money unless I pay this extra fee upfront.

Does anyone know what the actual process is to get this sorted so I can finally start receiving funds through Wise? Thanks in advance!

If you actually want to see those dollars hit your pocket, you’re gonna need to set up a USD bank account first.

Thanks for the input—but I was wondering, is there any way I can just give my email address (the one linked to my Wise account) to whoever is paying me, let them send over the USD, and then have those dollars magically convert themselves into local currency before landing in my Wise account? 🎉

It works fine on personal accounts, though I'm not too sure about business ones—plus, you wouldn't even deal with conversions because it just stays in USD. You can hold a balance without needing a specific account number...

I appreciate what you're getting at, though I must admit I’m a bit stumped when I click on my USD balance and hit Receive.
"Account details let you receive payments from clients and connect with payment platforms"
The balance itself shows up fine, but somehow, I can't actually take any money.😕

So, what's the play here? Can I just ask them—say, if they're sending $1,000 from their own account—to mark the payment as being sent in HRK? If so, I assume they'd just lose a bit of that $1,000 to whatever conversion fee is baked in.

Or, I could just pay the extra $62 and be done with it, but honestly, I'd much rather actually grasp the mechanics of how this all works. 😁

Those $62 for setting up an account number where anyone can send you money, regardless of whether you have a Bank account or not.
Money can hit your balance through other routes too—like currency conversions from different denominations, topping up via card, or getting a transfer from another Bank account user (kind of like how those other fintech apps work, though I'm not entirely sure what's actually on the table for business users)

I see, thanks for clearing that up!

The bank told me they took $19 because the transaction went through a different intermediary this time. I'm wondering if I should reach out to the company sending the payment, or if they have nothing to do with these kinds of fees?
