My friend had both their cakes and their pastries, and they were excellent. They truly make beautiful, delicious cakes. I think I might order a cake from them myself.

Man, I was actually thinking about heading over to Grabar tomorrow to finally lock in that wedding cake order... I mean, I know their pastries are killer, but I haven't actually seen one of their wedding cakes in person yet (besides just scrolling through photos online). I really have to give a shout-out to my boss, though—she actually whipped up a few little cookies exactly how I wanted them just so I could get a taste... They were pretty good, honestly, but I think I’m still gonna go with the parfait...

Man, this cake is gorgeous 🙂...we already put our deposit down at Cheesecake Factory...though I haven't fully locked in the design yet.

Does anyone have a lead on where I could order a cake like this in New York City? (By "like this," I mean one with those super cute, goofy decorations and colors.)

Anyone??

Dear friends, I have a deep longing for a cake, yet I am at a loss as to where to find one... I need a bakery somewhere near Orlando, Tampa, or Jacksonville...I simply want a four or five-tier cake (enough to serve 120 people), but nothing more complex than that...
I inquired at Whole Foods and Publix, but unfortunately, they only offer up to three tiers (which serves about 50-60 people).......
thank you

In my opinion, if you take a photo like this to any decent, modern bakery, they should be able to whip something similar right up for you! It isn't rocket science! It’s really just fondant or colored marzipan used in different shades! 😉

Hey everyone, does anyone have a solid recipe for a cake that’s actually sturdy enough to stack? I'm looking to do a four-tier tower... I really want something delicious, too... please...

The ladies were saying... if we’re going all out, we definitely need a richer cake at the bottom... probably something walnut-based... and you could top it off with some parfait and fresh fruit! If I remember correctly!

Like a Sachertorte... I’m thinking of one that’s really firm but still tastes amazing
My baker actually told me that if I wanted a Canadian-style cake, she could definitely pull that off—as long as the structure stays solid enough to hold up. She said she can make pretty much any dessert, provided it isn't too soft...
I’m planning four tiers myself... first layer is chocolate hazelnut, then a walnut layer with vanilla and fruit, followed by chocolate and fruit for the third, and finishing with a chocolate parfait for the fourth image

Just finished sorting out my cake order with Grabar... It's gonna be a hazelnut and caramel parfait... The lady running the shop is seriously awesome...

Seeing young people like this on a cake is honestly such a 😍
I wonder if I can just pick these up somewhere, or if I should ask the baker to whip them up from marzipan or something similar alongside the actual cake? 😕🤷

You can pick some up from Vincek—I’ve seen them carrying it before—but honestly, I think you or even a local pastry chef could whip it up if they have the right touch. Then again, anyone specializing in wedding cakes probably ought to be pretty skilled anyway...

We ended up skipping Vincek and just grabbing the cake from Piece of cake instead. There'll be one "main" one and then a few smaller ones scattered around, plus some chocolate-covered ice cream 😍

How on earth is Slatkin going to hold up?

That's exactly what I asked... they told me it needs to stay in the fridge to actually be "frozen," but apparently, these kinds of cakes usually lose their appeal immediately. So far, I haven't heard of any instance where the ice cream melted before someone could even grab a spoon 🤣

I'll definitely look into it if my baker can't pull it off

I mean, I'm assuming they'll get eaten fast enough 🙂
So if that's the case, it'll be a pretty amazing cake. 😍

I actually found a woman who makes these for her own side projects... she's based out in California... and I managed to talk her into making some bride and groom toppers for me too! I'll send you a private message with photos of her cakes!

mistymoose57 said:Ticino paste is supposedly better than marzipan? You're joking, right?? 😲

Honestly, at every wedding I've been to, 90% of that stuff just sits there untouched because the taste is absolutely revolting...😲

Some people might actually like fondant (Lord help them), but saying it's better than Marzipan? Not happening.

Besides, Marzipan isn't even a second choice when you're doing specific cake decorations—so if that's your thing, go for it.

Regardless, I don't get why a cake can't be both delicious and beautiful—why do people insist on using that damn fondant when you can make a stunning cake out of either meringue or Marzipan? Everyone will actually eat it if it tastes good.

Plus, you can always use frosting as a final layer (my little secret)—it ends up firm, sweet, and gives you this gorgeous, shiny finish.

But hey, that’s probably only for pastry chefs with nerves of steel.
