20 kg for 150 people?! Wow, that's a massive difference from what I was planning. Did you give any away later, or was it all just for the hotel?
I'm assuming this little bakery is in Chicago 😢, so it doesn't really help me much right now!!

I forgot to mention that my estimate of 30 kg for 80 people includes the cocktail hour—you know, that gathering before the ceremony starts. 🤷
But I guess it's all basically the same thing anyway. 😕

That's way too much, honey. You're going to have a mountain of leftovers.🤷

I went with exactly 0.8kg of sweets for every 6 people. Tables had 12 guests, so basically two trays per table.
At home, my husband had 2kg and I had 4kg—and we didn't even finish it all...
We ordered extra from that 20kg batch specifically to pack up—about 8oz in each little box.

The small bakery is in Chicago

Hey there, all you fellow bakers out there... I actually finished my certification last year 🙂 but I found myself scrolling through these forums again just to show off my little cake project... honestly, it turned out exactly how I pictured it in my head, except for one thing—the lady at the bakery completely blanked on adding the little pansy topper on top. Like, seriously? So frustrating...

No shots from the dessert buffet at the venue, but here's how they were arranged at home

image

And this was my cake—my wedding bouquet had similar wildflowers, so I kept the whole vibe consistent.

I tried hitting you up in the DMs, but I think it said your inbox was totally slammed or something, so maybe you can't even get new messages right now.🤷

Can anyone help me out? We’re looking at a wedding with over 250 people... and we definitely want to give everyone little boxes of treats to take home. I'm trying to figure out how many pounds of cookies or pastries we actually need, especially since his mom is making some stuff for us and herself at home, even though his wife is basically a pro baker... If anyone's dealt with something like this before, please help!!!!!

I heard you should aim for about 7 ounces of treats per box.

I was at this wedding recently and had the most incredible cake. It had these thin layers of sponge on the top and bottom, but the middle was just packed with this rich almond cream. Honestly, it was so good I couldn't help myself and ended up having two slices. 😁
I really feel like flavor is what actually matters here. Who cares about how fancy the decoration looks when you're just going to slice right through it anyway? 😍

hmmmmmmmm... but then again, those photos stay forever... whereas most guys—well, the vast majority of them, really—will have moved on and forgotten what she even looked like within a month anyway... 🙂

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this group. 🙂

My wedding is set for April 25th in Savannah. For the most part, I have everything under control, but I am absolutely not thrilled with the quote I received for the cake. $800 Since I'm planning for about 180 guests, I'm looking for a more reasonably priced bakery. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thank youuuu

So we ordered the cake... it's gorgeous 😍
It’s this pale pastel green with white frosting vines swirled all over,
three tiers high, and there's these rows of little white pearls lining the base of every layer 😍
The whole thing is going to be paired with these ivory-greenish real roses and lisianthus tucked into the top and sides.
Flavor-wise, we went with chocolate-vanilla parfait on the bottom, chocolate in the middle, and fruit on the top tier.
Here's a bunch of photos from it, just a bit above

Ordered from Smile Cake in Yellowstone for about 150 people $467.

Gabriel, would you be so kind as to share the address and contact information
for that little bakery over in a place like Des Moines?

Ugh, you're lucky I just happened to hop online right now. So, here's the deal—there's this company over in River City called Delicia Inc., and the guy to talk to is Mr. Josip Kalabek (cell: 098/324 471). Let me know if you actually end up going, because I definitely want to hear if you were happy with how it went.🙂

Thanks so much; I'll be sure to give you an update on how everything turns out, though I’m still a bit uncertain about when exactly I should head out there, especially since my wedding is coming up fast on October 10th. I'm really just starting to find my footing here on the forum and am trying to gather as much information as possible.👍

I don't know, man—you’ve got nothing to lose by getting moving on this right now. I actually booked my vendors about a month ago for a wedding happening in six months, and they’re already booking four weddings per Saturday, so they already had one slot taken for my big day. It’s hard to say for sure, but honestly? I don't think it's ever too early. Time just flies, especially when you're counting down the days until the wedding.🙂

So, I’m looking at a guest list of about 130 people... and my mom is already on my case saying we need at least 130 pounds of dessert. Apparently, there's zero margin for error here. I have to make sure the godparents get their share, then more for the immediate family, a little less for the extended relatives... and everyone else just gets those little individual pastry boxes. Honestly, I don't even know if I can pull this off.
