yeah, obviously! mine is made with whipped cream. I honestly thought it wasn't—just looking at the photo—but when I asked the baker, she confirmed it was real cream. I actually dug up the original photo from an American website 😉

Heh, 👍 guess we just have different tastes, huh?😂

Phew, thank goodness! 😍
I was already starting to stress out about Issus's cake—honestly!

We hit up every local bakery in San Diego before finally finding someone to make us one... this was $833
And I gave this one to my godmother

Purple theme—yummm. Honestly, I could probably go for a slice right now ☕

Can someone please tell me where I can order mini cakes in Washington, D.C.? My issue is that the smallest diameter I’ve seen is about 6 inches, and if I go with a two-tier design, the base would need to be at least 8 inches, which is just far too large for what I need.

Mini cakes? Interesting...
Edit: The pastries and cake from the bakery just arrived.
The cake looks exactly how I described it to the woman over the phone—pretty incredible 😲
The cookies look perfect, too. We haven't dug in yet, so I'll let you know how they taste later.
We stopped by a shop in San Diego earlier to grab some samples, and they were great. We picked up three slices of cake—I loved the cheesecake pistachio one, but my partner hated it. One was chocolate and honestly pretty basic (Nora prefers something else), and the third was Marcella style; he liked it, but I couldn't stand it since I'm not a fan of marzipan.
Here’s the cake:
There wasn't any Esterházy available to compare against my mom's recipe, but these were pretty run-of-the-mill—nothing to write home about. The cookies, though? Seriously good.

My apologies, I may have misspoken earlier :-( I was actually suggesting a two-tier mini cake where we serve one slice per table—not an individual pastry for every single guest. So, we’re looking at a maximum of ten slices. Something like this... though even this one looks slightly too large for what I have in mind.

I guess that’s just common sense at this point.
We picked up a small one from $40 just to test the waters—they probably have fewer molds to work with if you're looking for something specific.
I remember seeing a slightly larger one back in a bakery in San Diego; it wasn't nearly as decorated as that cake you posted, though—it was mostly just covered in sliced almonds, if I recall correctly.

Basically, I’m asking on behalf of a friend. She visited a few local bakeries, and everywhere she went, they insisted the base couldn't be any smaller than, what, 8 inches? It turned out to be way too massive for a table meant for ten people. To top it off, one shop wanted to whip up a mini version just to show her the concept, and the price tag shot up past $200 :-O

nimblescout5, maybe I’m off base here, but it shouldn't be an issue for anyone to pull this off. When I ordered my cake, the lady actually pulled out different pans just so I could get a sense of the scale—and honestly, she can adjust them by the inch if she needs to. She just stretches one pan or shrinks it down to fit the job. But $200 for such a tiny little cake? That's way overkill for me! We pay our own way $267, and we're talking about feeding 75 people...

The wedding is for about 80 people in San Francisco, so we're looking at pretty much every Baskin-Robbins in the area. Any recommendations?
I’ve picked up some treats for birthdays and anniversaries back in the Mississippi Delta, and they were fine—but those were just store-bought. Can I order things that aren't literally "dry cookies"—like mini Canadian wafers or mini eclairs? How many pounds should I get per person, and what’s the price range? We might do a few different cake flavors—maybe one fruit-based, one chocolate, etc.—depending on how many guests show up.
Quality matters more to me than the price, though I'm not exactly loaded enough to pay for delivery from Target 😁
One more thing. Is krokant actually worth it? I personally love being able to slice it, but my fiancé isn't a fan. I’ve heard most people don't care for it, and since half my guest list probably won't even know what it is, I can't really gauge interest. Should I just stick to small cakes? Also, can cakes replace creamy pastries entirely? If I have both cake and krokant, am I expected to serve both or just pick one?
How much extra dessert should I order if I assume people will take some home? (And what's the standard box size—is it usually around a pound?)
Does anyone do those little mini-cakes that look almost like muffins? Instead of several large cakes, you could just stack various flavors on a tiered stand.
Sorry for the barrage of questions; it's all just coming out of my head at once, but I didn't know who else to ask. Hope you don't mind. 🙂 🙂
Look, just head over to that "Tradition" bakery near the border on st. I've been to a few weddings where they did the sweets and cakes, and everyone was absolutely floored. I checked online, and they don't really have a website—just a few pics on Facebook—but honestly, your best bet is to just walk in or give them a call. I bet they'd be happy to customize stuff for you.

I was also pretty shocked by the price; honestly, paying that much for a few mini cakes for ten or twelve tables is just overkill for a dessert. I'm not sure yet, maybe I'll tell her to shop around a bit more. I thought someone might have already done something like this at a wedding. Anyway, thanks 🙂

We aren't going to go with those pillows, obviously—but it’s actually pretty cool 😍
The third one was ours, just a single-story place and purple instead of black 👍

Does anyone happen to know if Vince offers delivery services, and if so, what's their coverage area?
At the trade show, they mentioned that a cake for 150 people typically runs about $500... I've been browsing through different cakes online, and this one caught my eye, priced at roughly 🙂

I think there’s a delivery fee—though I haven't checked lately, just last winter—so I'm not entirely sure if that's still the case.

I honestly have no clue—I just asked them about it, crossed them off my list, and moved on to the next one.

If I may, the reason they insisted on a 20 cm base is because she wants a tiered cake. To keep it proportional and actually looking decent, that's the absolute minimum size. For a two-tier cake of that diameter covered in fondant, the price isn't even that high $20, considering a single kilogram of fondant alone costs $29.
Why doesn't she just get a 20 cm cake? It should be plenty if she serves other desserts alongside it.
By the way, that single-tier cake you posted is gorgeous—really elegant...
